With the Blooming onion: try placining the cut onion in ice water for an hour or two; this will set the shape. You will need to use a batter mixture to achieve the 'pufiness' of the 'Outback' onion.

@@suzannes5888 for me I would recommend u to used flour, cream and a little bit of sour cream. Mix till it becomes thick and add some water again this is what I do but u can try it out and come back and tell me how did it go.oh yeah I almost forgot deep the onion in the ingredient and coat to ur satisfaction and just a pinch of salt

@AnimeOnline 791 That part might be obvious to you but not everyone. Since I wanted to see how the onion was battered (not obvious) the video was helpful. When I was younger I thought I was being funny when I was just being a punk smart-ass. I grew up and hopefully you will too.

I work at a pizzeria and we don’t have room for a fryer so we use the pizza oven to cook the wings and finish them off in an air fryer at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. They end up so crunchy on the outside.

I spent $80.00 on my air fryer from amazon (GO WISE USA) and it came with a recipe book. Had no problems so far...I've had it for about a year.
I got mine about the same price, as good as the ones for 600

You need to use rice flower and dredge it, then in the egg wash, then into the regular flower. The rice flower will make everything stick without the overly flowered onion. Spread it open while doing this to insure as even as possible this process.
Rice flower is the answer to keeping the breading in place without the doughish taste. Fish chicken all will look and taste better.

When frying the onion or anything w batter it helps to coat it a bit with oil so that it doesnt look white and becomes browned while cooking
Of course it will work and the food will taste good because you are making it
I did watch a video once from someone that used to work at Outback and they said that they soak the onions for several hours in cold water and that helps the onions "open up" to make the bloom. It probably won't fix it completely but it's good to know.
tbh those foster farms take out wings are hella good. you can get them crispy in the oven just flip halfway through or bake on a wire rack

the fool-proof way of cooking with an air fryer is to think of it as a convection oven because thats what it is.

I always wondered how that list is compiled, and if Oprah receives compensation for at least some stuff landing on that list. I mean, it's not as if Oprah has had a lot of experience running air fryers. She employs a chef to do her cooking for her.

Those wings are so good. They do get really crispy in the oven. I flip them half way and they get so crispy and delicious! Would have loved to see you prepare wings from scratch to see if it gets as crispy.

Maybe you should have tried french fries, cake, dinner rolls, popcorn chicken etc... I have been using cosori air fryer and its just managing. I even cook popcorn sometimes with a foil below. Its amaaaaazzziiiinnngggg

I’m a naughty air fryer(er) I NEVER look up conversions from oven to air fryer... what ever directions are on the food I just cook them that way in the air fryer! It has never failed me!
Try placing the wings back into the fryer after the wing sauce...now you'll really enjoy the baked dry sauce
i think the problem w/ the blooming onion is that in my experience air fryers just kinda fall flat when it comes to ""powdery"" breadings, like flour. so either you use breadcrumbs or cereal or you just fry the flour w/ oil

I love my air fryer. 2 qt POWER XL. Got it at Targets for $44. Does EVERYTHING that Opra's does....just smaller. (Being single, with 1 cat) mine works for me. I was hoping the blooming onion worked better. I would've LOVED to do that in mine. Air fried oreos...never would've thought to do that. Wings....MUST try that. Question...are the wings FROZEN???

Here in New Zealand we have something similar but instead of "Yedi" it has "Taste the difference" on it. Quite handy but basically it's just a small oven. Does anyone know what the E3 code means?? Google hasn't got the answer & it's not mentioned in the instruction manual.

This is essentially a bigger version of the instant pot air fryer and i love it. i mean this yedi comes at a whopping 12.8 quarts whereas the instant pot brand airfryer comes only at a 6 & 8 quart model so.... i'll be buying this yedi instead.

I don't think this was fair, only the way it was presented in the thumbnail. You said you were testing Oprah's favorite air fryer, NOT that your testing an air fryer vs oil frying.
Based on some of the comments I'm not alone. I thought you were going to test her favorite model against maybe a less expensive air fryer or just a popular air fryer brand. My favorite model was $60 so I was excited seeing what you thought of her model. Still a fun and enjoyable episode. Air fryers make great bacon without stinking up the house. Great salmon too!

$150. . I spent 40 bucks on mine and its awesome. I also think if you wouldve used a tempora like batter the onion wouldve turned out better.
The real test is to compare the Yedi machine to other brands of air fryer. I would love to see that.

It would have been nice to see you try all the accessories. Of all the foods you tested, they were all by use of the air fryer. I'd have liked to see how to use the rotisserie or the basket or the food dehydrator or the cage or the skewers. Also, bad camera lighting/angle on the control panel. We couldn't see the buttons you were pressing. Also, also, you should have used the oven light from the beginning so we could see the food being cooked and a better look at the interior of the oven.
And who is Oprah that I have to care about the Air Fryer she uses?

"It's a little dry"???? What do you expect? What they call an "air fryer" is a crude convection (hot air) oven and food dehydrator. In general, they are no good for baking breads and cakes from scratch. They just don't have the space to create real air circulation in a proper convection oven (or, even a regular oven). BUT, they are excellent for reheating already-baked breads and cakes. They do a good job of wicking out the moisture and heating the inside. (Try reheating a stale danish, cold fried chicken, or a slice of cold pizza.) In general, they also do well whenever you cook anything that is naturally fatty, or oily. Raw chicken, raw beef, or even hot dogs do fine because the oil helps with browning and keeps the meat from drying out. The most appropriate thing here was the frozen wings. BTW - ALL "air fryers" perform about the same as this one.
