- It is an annual tradition for Maltese bearers to run with the statue to signify the rising of Jesus Christ. However, things do not go as planned on the 5th of April, when one of the bearers had a 'slip'.
Always someone in the procession who forgot to go to the bathroom and then it's a mad dash.

It's ok to have the image because it resemble's the actual person. Just like in the bible God himself instructed Moses to make a covenant and a bronze snake but don't worship as if those were a true living thing. The term 'Graven images' read into the context of the ancient Hebrews meant statues of those that is not God (Like false gods, i.e. Baal/Egyptian gods and goddesss)
These kinds of statues are not precisely graven images as they are not of false gods, for Jesus is God

But ... you as well make an image, a "mental image" in your mind when you pray to Jesus and worship him as God! That is idolatry of the worse kind!

Using statues and icons of Jesus is not idolatry, again, idolatry is the worship of false gods.
And it's you that seems misled. God only forbade the worship of statues He did not forbid the use of them in religious use.
For example, when making the Ark of the Covenant, God commanded it to be made with two statues of Cherubim.

Not to mention that the prophet Ezekiel describes images in the idealized temple shown in a vision. Another similar case in the old testament was when a plague of serpents was sent by God to punish the Israelites, to heal the afflicted, by the orders of God, Moses made a bronze serpent, and put it on a pole so that anyone who look at it may be healed. Note that people had to 'look' at the serpent to be healed, which means that statues can be used ritually and that God can make miracles through statues.
Regarding Exodus 20, the only reasons God forbade the creation of statues is because he hasn't manifested Himself in a human form to the Israelites, He commanded that so that the Israelites would not create idols of Him in the form of animals like many other religions do (i.e. hinduism). And many people mistake bowing as worship. Catholics actually use bowing to show reverence for the person the statue or icon is depicting. In fact there are many instances in the bible where an individual bows or kneels before a figure, like how in Genesis 33, when Jacob bowed before Esau, 7 times for that matter, and God did not punish him for worshipping his brother.
