In this video we check out the sonicmodell cf wing epo 1030mm rc wing. It has been a while since we have flown a pusher prop wing, but how can we pass up a $55 kit? I’ve been going through and watching your videos everyday for the last two weeks. Your enthusiasm for the RC hobby is infectious! I can’t begin to tell you how much enjoyment you have brought me. I’m 70 yrs old and have a lung disease that has severely limited my mobility. I’ve had to give up many of my hobbies like kayaking and biking as a result. Ten years ago I flew RC planes but that gave way to drones and aerial photography. However with all regulations and restrictions it’s becoming a bit of a bummer.
Then I stumble across the two of you! The RC Saylors! Your videos are so positive, entertaining, informative, and focused on having fun that it’s been impossible for me not to get drawn in and thinking about other aspects of the RC hobby! I’ll still fly my Mavic Pro Platinum and Phantom 4, but due to your outstanding videos I’ll be expanding into RC trucks, rock crawlers, boats, and even scale WW2 vehicles.
I live in Massachusetts so you are also helping me get through these winter months. Thank you so very, very much!!!

In the last 1-1/2 months I’ve now purchased 4 drones. 2 of them lightly used, 2 of them new. (Bugs 2 & Bugs 4 the best two) but I’ve been marathon watching this channel and I’m starting to get the RC Airplane bug. You’re lucky your wife likes them and understands. My wife is mad I bought 2 drones (she doesn’t know I bought 4 !!)
FPV stuff is fun. Don't know a heck of a lot about it, but I like it.

Impressive how those magnets held. I thought for sure doing aggressive maneuvers would dislodge the wings. Seems the worst may have been a bit of flutter.
3-channel yank ‘n’ bank is perfectly fine for a flying wing. Adding useful rudder gets a bit tricky on these birds, given their characteristic short-coupled design.
Using high-visibility colored packing tape to create marks/patterns on the wings, for distinguishing top from bottom, really comes in handy for quickly assessing orientation, provided the tape adheres well to the foam. Paint is a bit more work and takes more skill to apply optimally, but also a good option to consider.
So... I guess it was a shelf queen long before being a shelf queen was cool, eh? 😜

Maybe Abby is somehow related to Kelsey (74 Gear). Not certain I’ve ever seen him blink. 😂
I say this for every wing hand launcher or pusher launcher, try the overhead backwards toss. Hold it closer to plane center, arm outstretched, wide arc over head and backward, you body turning to keep eyes on aircraft. Its an incredibly reliable method and avoids any rolling moment. I’ve used it for YEARS on my own pushers.

The odd attitude that it’s going into when your pulling fullback is a high speed stall. It has to much throw is all my spec wings do that and I have to dial down the throws
A side note about tossing a wing is hold it and toss it like a frisbee across the body you don’t have to toss to hard either
lol I posted the same on the stall... it freaked me out the first time I had it happen on my spec wing... I couldn't recover from the stall so got to do the walk of shame lol.

Good flying, if I ever get around to flying, I'd like to get a wing type flier. Though that could be some years before I'm skillful enough, or is there a safe controlled wing. Tail heavy because it’s made to have the FPV cam in the nose and a GoPro on top! Definitely made as an FPV flier.

The second take off was better, that first one, the immediate spins would have scared me and it would have crashed right away! As far as the wings that I've seen y'all do, this one looks the best.
I've seen this model for a good while and thought it's pretty nice looking... I've ended up going with some EPP wing builds instead including a FPVWRA spec wing...
for your weird handling issues on hard elevator... it's an elevator stall... I got a good first hand learning experience on this with my spec wing, had to dial back my throws... also wings with a good flight envelope like a bit of expo and multi rates are nice... the faster you go the less input you need so low rates give you a smoother feel and more resolution... decide to slow down then goto higher rates at the flick of the switch

Looks like heaps of fun. I would attempt to put wheels on it, the “throw it” type of take off seems hazardous. Although it would need long legs to keep the prop from striking the runway.

great flight wing toss best way to launch and no one rudders a wing it would be almost impossible to fly and not ailerons but elevons and always put a little up on control surface before you launch PNP version under $100.00
and Abby you could fly this PS put stripes on bottom one side easier to orientate
I have seen slow motion video of hand launches while holding the underneath, it showed that the hand accelerates away from the propeller when you release your grip.
Not my cup of tea, but it does look fun. And should be great with an FPV camera in it.

could you do a speed test?
I have always launched my wings by throwing them holding right at the prop but never with the throttle on. Just a good chuck and then throttle up. Also all of my wings have dark bottoms and light tops so orientation is easy.

When I use to race model boats some of my first wins were won without blinking, I never even realized wasnt blinking till every body was laughing one day. Soooo focused on what youre doing you forget to blink. Interesting. The more you know, right?

advice for learning to fly LOS?
Find the slowest park flyer you can to start out, preferably cheap too because you WILL crash. If you can get a sim and plug your controller in thats even better.
If you find something with built in stabilization you'll do better starting out.

No you cannot Fred. We like to use our Tactic radios and receivers on slightly cheaper models. Have a handful of tactic receivers and they work great, so might as well use them. Probably Spectrum is the better choice nowadays though. 👍⚓😎

I actually saw it available on amazon for about $55 but that was like 5 months ago and it was the kit version. This is actually a really fun flying wing, however, the spar they supply for the wing is super brittle.
The kit would be around 55 usd but those are sold out at banggood. The PNP are still available but to a slightly higher price.

Another “ Crash n’ Trash “ plane. Like the jjrc m02 and XK x450.
The XR 450 is in no way a crash and trash r/c whatcha call it, as there really no classification except for what you want to call it.and the FAA thinks it is. For the price of this ready to fly,thingy,it can't be beat. I watched as they had a bad landing on one of the slightly larger type of them,made by a different company, and Nate said he could fix it with not much trouble, but installing stripped servos and gluing parts back together 8not my idea of a easy fix.The XR 450 boasts it has metal gear servos,so that was a plus for not possibly being damaged, and my friend's other model which I won't refer to so Nate and Abby don't get any hassles from the company felt chintzy and cheaply made.It even arrived at their door with a servo hanging off,but until you have laid hands on and experience what it is capable of doing when flown correctly, (even then a sudden shift in wind can be a nightmare),I feel like this is having the best of both worlds for drone and aircraft flying. I am still trying to find the best possible camera that I can afford (and that's not too much),so I can experience fpv with it and take videos and pictures. That would make it a super star,as far as I am concerned. When I first saw it,in a R/C SAYLORS video I new It was what I have really been wanting.,but even though I cannot fly it with the ease that Nate does, it shows what it is capable of doing once I learn how. I'm sure they will progress with this type of machine and come out with a more expensive, but well built unit with high quality materials and electronics, and tweak the wings and airframe for better performance. Nate,you frequently mentioned that you trade off or sell crashed units to someone you know that happens to need some parts off of it so you can buy something else you need .If you happen to have a camera laying around and whatever else I would need to transform my XR 450 into what I've been talking about, I would be interested. You can message me, I've been subscribed to you all for a long time.
Barrie Presseien I appreciate what you have to say. To be honest the XK x450 is sitting in my cart ready to be purchased. But not yet, I am a quadcopter/drone person. Quadcopters are so much more durable in a crash. And once you learn to fly a drone they are difficult to crash. In the meantime I ordered the p51 predator, the volantex sport cub, and Eachine mini mustang. Once I get comfortable with them I’ll move on to the XK x450.
PS. Also wish they would sell these models BNF because most people love them. And be great to order a replacement without accumulating transmitters and screwdrivers.

I like the wing but not interested in FPV.
You can totally bypass FPV alltogether with this wing, and that's what I did for this! FPV on this would require a complete additional set up to make it happen. As is, in kit form or PNP form, it comes with nothing FPV :-)

Often preach about being kind and sharing info in a nice way yet calls other youtubers/hobbyist "stupid" for their launch choice. I get that it might be more risky rear launching but no reason to bash other people on how they choose to have fun.
