- A short animated film produced by the Global Health Media Project globalhealthmedia.org in collaboration with Yoni Goodman yonigoodman.com.
This film makes visible the invisible cholera germs as a young boy shows how to help the sick and guides his village in preventing the spread of cholera.
The film shows how to make the basic homemade oral rehydration solution using sugar, salt , and safe water as these items were felt to be most widely available. However, a solution prepared with a readymade ORS packet is the first choice if supplies are available.

what i love about this is that it isn't overly graphic, it's just telling the truth in a calm and accurate way
For the people that don't know, the cholera was back in 2022 in Syria, tartous and ladkia. We were very sacred at first and many restaurants and grocery shops closed being terrified of it. But we managed to cure everyone and work against it. Thanks for spreading awareness ❤
im very glad you're okay! that would be very scary, you are very brave
In 2022 i was also infected by cholera but good thing i am safe
THANK YOU HOD
Cholera is going to pop up now and again no matter what happens. Most people who come into contact with it don't get sick, but it takes just one person to begin spreading contamination everywhere. Stepping up your sterilization game is a must when Cholera is around. The salt/sugar water in this video is basically Pedialyte without the flavor, and it is critical in such a situation. Nobody in a first-world country is going to carry around chlorine drops casually, but it's important in less-developed areas of the world. A contaminated cistern was responsible for the Cholera outbreak that John Snow figured out was leaking into pumped well water and causing serious deaths in the area, back in the 1800's. He got them to remove the pump handle for a time, and proved that it was indeed the source of the outbreak. He had to go to great lengths in an era where germ theory wasn't yet understood.
Wow I live in tartous and didn’t realize that we went through that ..I don’t remember any shops closing either
Are you talking about Covid?
Wait what ? U sure it wasnt Corona? I thought cholera was rottet Out?
I never knew washing your hands was so important
Really? Washing your hands is always important.
Many deadly diseases are spread through unwashed hands....everything from the flu, to typhoid, to ebola.
Washing your hands helps you keeping away germs or bacteria
I know!
and now today, this is more important than a emo kid in 1st grade thinks it is
I love how before the animation was depressing in black and white then at the end it had colour that kid is a hero

Media like this should always get first pick of funding and distribution, especially in areas and countries where this is a big problem.
👍🏻
The fact how they actually listened to the kid just proves they are very nice people
We need to salute the kid, especially he saved his dad and their village of Cholerae Virus, becoming a hero is good for all, we can spread the good word deeds of our mind, especially for people who is in or like that un-urbanized areas.
Cholera is a bacterial disease. It s caused by a bacteria called Vibrio cholerae

Cholera is Caused By a Bacteria not and Virus
*Bacteria, Cholera is caused by a bacteria, not a virus.

Very graphic, but I think that in this case, like the Ebola video, that graphic animation is important. Never underestimate the power of a deadly disease.

The global media project is capable of saving millions in Africa and billions I our world the global media project is awesomr
🐾🖤Back then never thought washing hands was important because yes we can get sick but we can easily just get better just by drinking medicine but now that the world is on lockdown and that we are in a pandemic I now know that washing my hands, face and food is important🐾🖤
This is good, education is important.
The media is a powerful way to educate people,
it was a smart move to make this video to educate people about things.
these videos are awesome. the animation, the tips to keep you healthy, just everything.
literal chills. this animation gives a amazing representation.
watching this video after 9 years since it was made. I'm a doctor and it's amazing to see that how change in small habits saved so many lives. Now these habits has integrated to our lives so much that we can't imagine living without these habits. For instance, I can never imagine myself touching anything without washing my hands after using toilet.
Me after 11 years 🤝
Nice
I know some people whom for some reasons I cannot get rid of that don't do wash their hands. It's so disgusting and unsafe to be with them, but they cannot bother to wash properly, or at all.
I don't know why people lack conscience to wash their darn hands for 30 seconds, even if it's annoying. What's so hard about doing it? You said, the WHO said, and I also say, small habits (like washing hands) save lives, but many people just won't cooperate.
just one little boy and and a nurse saved the day
i came from the story of ebola
i really enjoyed both videos they are very educational and also they arent too dark i mean i dont see in the video death everywhere so kids could watch it too
yes this is a good video and spreads a useful message
The kid is a real superhero im crying😭
The child is REALLY hero of the village.

The boy saved his village from cholera.
Yep
Yes
2.8k likes with 2 replies? Let me fix that.
RESPECT THAT BOY
Wow
The nurse is sure a hero!
This kid is a hero, save his father, his village, and everyone in his village, a round of applause please!
Yes
The kid should be remembered like the legends and stories too...
This is as good as the other one, very touching and makes you see the from the eyes of a the amazing kid!
I love this video and as a Public Health student I have to admit that i was totally ignorant to how bad the problem of Cholera was until I was assigned to investigate the role it plays in under 5 mortality. It is so important to do the work that this kid did. Imagine what an effect it would have if we all joined forces. If only governments played their part and sorted out their infrastructural challenges specially during the rainy season in parts of Africa
This is more educative than school
This boy is a hero and he saved his dad, saved his village and the pollution is over
So well scripted and the animation is done so amazingly. I am going to show it to my students tomorrow. Good job!!
i love your vidoes
I agree
Great video and animation! Who would have ever guessed that the nurse had the recipe for Gatorade. The lightning bolt in the jar at 2:00 was a nice touch.
Did anyone notice this masterpiece is made 9 years ago?
THE KID IS A HERO !!

الحمد لله على نعمة الاسلام والنظافة
Respect to this kid saving his dad and make his village healthy ☺️
Great video. Thanks so much. I use this video when I babysit to show how important it is to wash hands, etc. I'm babysitting my 5 yr old nephew, right now, and he loves to watch this video over and over :)
He saved a entire village what a hero
This is a must-watch video. I also love the man’s accent.
It shows how can a small move can make a huge change!💖
You‘re right
This is the best examples of Animation for Development that I've seen recently. It is clear and timely and has the potential to work in similar Cholera emergencies in years to come. Well done.
Clearly, a very good reminder to people that diseases can be brutal and do anything to spread and kill...
Too bad some parts of the world, especially you America, did not listen and remember the situations.
Beautifully animated and drawn by Yoni Goodman!
this kid deserves a medal he save his entire village life
Ya 👌
That little boy is so brave and selfless! A true hero 😊
How amazing was that ☺️😊
Y'all should watch the Story of Ebola
Give that kid a medal
someone give this kid an Oscar for saving a village
That kid is a hero! Even though he is all grown up now and told the story. He still saved hundreds of lives!
This really showcases how fast germs can spread... I mean, I knew it spread quickly and easily, but WOW.
As a 2013, I watched this for so many years feeling entertained. That kid's a true hero.
I like when village turns from colourless to colourful.....so amazing
unlocked achievement : hero of the village
I like the kid, he is a real hero and saviour of the village
That kid just saved his entire village and his father.
i remember watching this at the age of 8-9 with my neighbour in our mom's phone
also love that all the alerting videos are now the same problem we are facing in 2020-2023
This is really good for every age
It has very good animations!
I want to be like the kid in the video, for that I also want the people in my city to cooperate and stop being stubborn, I want more and more people to watch these videos and understand the grimness of these outbreaks
The boy got the achievement "Hero of the village".
Omg dự án của mười năm trước và bây giờ nó phản ánh tất cả thực tại, cảm ơn những người đã làm ra chiếc video này💚
Can we appreciate the kid he's a hero
They put this video in our class...As I already recognized it, It was fun to watch it again with my classmates
This boy is such a hero, only if everybody was like this. 👍🏿
Give that kid lots of credit😊
The kid is a Hero
He saved his village
Lots of kids r heros
Everyone gonna ignore the fact that kid survived himself and rescued the whole village.
Respect: 📈📈
I love how it starts black and white and when it starts becoming happy it gets colored to represent that it was really happy and that now the village and villagers are safe
Youngest speedruner vs Cholera
This made me laugh…kudos!
I ain't eating anymore after watching this
i like how the village gets more color the safer it gets
I've watched it before ... I suddenly remembered. Now we are also experiencing this situation. Keepsafe everyone.
Wow this child is so smart all the respect
Sad, but I love the graphics and how the story is in the prospective of a villager
This is impressing
This kid is really great, he can finish anything! Do you think he can become a hero?
The nurse is a hero
