I love Moose. I've never worked with any (unless dissecting one in college counts) but I actually have some stories I could tell. The only personal story of mine was the one time I was 7 I was watching TV at my grandparents and a big female Moose ran through their yard. Keep in mind it was in the middle of a city in North Dakota so it made quite a buzz in the local news. But the craziest story I have happened to the wife of my boss from the first zoo I interned for. She was hiking in Montana and got charged by a Moose. Luckily she got away by climbing a tree... however it kept her up there for a couple hours. Stories aside Moose are my favorite animal I have never worked with. They're not very common in zoos due to being really hard to keep, which makes me appreciate the fact Frontier went with the Moose instead of going for something like an Elk or Whitetail Deer. As for your question about beavers, yeah I totally think a couple should go in there with them. I honestly was kind of expecting them to get a interspecies bonus with each other when the pack was announced. They tend to like living in the same area and Moose generally benefit from Beavers building dams as it creates more wetlands for the Moose since aquatic plants are their favorite food (honestly it annoys me they can't use the aquatic plant feeder for that very reason)
Thanks so much for sharing! Do you know why they are so hard to keep in zoos? Just curious what the reason for it is :) ? I am also surprised indeed about the lack of interspecies bonusses with these animals, lol!
