Coming back from season 4 to rewatch the very first one and I can’t help but to appreciate how far did the guys develop the story and their acting. Here they are still warming up and kinda kidding around and it’s all not too serious yet 😄
LA By Night is by far one of the greatest things G&S has ever broadcasted. Amazing moody atmosphere (thanks to the incredible talent of Storyteller Jason Carl), edge-of-your-seat action, emotional and gripping roleplay, a fantastic cast, and an incredible rotation of guests through the first season. I really hope the rest of Season 1 gets uploaded to YT to share it with the world (and for my rewatches!), and I can't wait for the Epilogues and Season 2!
The level of ability of the cast is just astounding. A nice counterpoint to the "Look at me! I'm doing an accent and treating the campaign like a joke!" that passes for roleplaying in so many RPG streams.
And Jason Carl's GM skills _are_ sharp. One of the hardest things as a GM is to maintain a serious tone. You have to find a way to rein in the natural tendency for a bunch of friends sitting around a table to spend most of their time joking, while at the same time not being a prick. Carl pulls it off expertly, gently and deftly maintaining the tone of the chronicle.
Shots Fired
But the question is
To who ?
CR ? Dice,Camera,Action ? TAZ ?
The possibilities are unimaginable
@@nicolasoliveira5187
I'm unashamedly a Critter. D&D has an inherently lighter tone than VtM, but you'll note - I hope - that no matter how many jokes get made _within_ the campaign, Matt Mercer steadfastly prevents the campaign _itself_ becoming a joke. The players, likewise, wholeheartedly attempt to play characters who - at their core - are characters who _can_ be taken seriously
Dice, Camera, Action is definitely a stream I would consider of vastly lower quality than this one or CR, due to their failure to observe the above.
The more recent Heroes of the Vale suffers from the same defects.
Im hoping season 2 also gets uploaded on youtube

Love this show. The characters actually feel like people and the GM knows when to just let the characters be themselves rather than constantly interrupt the flow. Half of the reason I couldn’t get in Shield of Tomorrow or Callisto6 is the lengthy bits of exposition or the players over playing their characters
Agreed! There's a great flow in this campaign. the GM handles it wonderfully.

What strikes me as very interesting is the nuance of Alex's performance here. I know this isn't a traditional scripted type of show (obviously, it's a damn roleplaying game) but the amount of care that Alex puts in his body language really shows how skilled he is at roleplaying the character. Even the kindness in his eyes when he doesn't find someone staring at his blackened veins belies a sort of pained clenching of his jaw... Every time he's in focus he takes a tremendous amount of care in roleplaying his character. It's aspirational. I've also never had a player really understand how communicative body language is. So that's... very cool to see here.
I came for B. Dave Walters and Erika Ishii (Erika is an icon of mine...) and I am not at all disappointed by anyone. Jason Carl I thought was a smidge bit cringe but I also thought the same think of Matt Mercer when I first started watching CR, so... it's just a testament to how much Jason Carl cares about how he reflects the atmosphere of the environments he's conjuring.
You've got a bunch of great actors here. Kudos to Jasper who's actually frightened me and seemed to be always in character. But the four of them really were great. Good game !

Is it weird that the second I saw Annabelle, I knew the character was gonna be a Brujah?
I mean if its not for the looks, the fact, that she studies sociology could be a big buzzer too! :D
I think it’s also her overall attitude. She definitely doesn’t like the whole political system of the kindred, and *definitely* doesn’t like being told what to do. She questions why everyone follows the Baron. Whether she admits it or not, she’s got an anarchist streak in her.
Zen767 Gamer4Lyfe yep, as soon as she started hardcore questioning why everyone followed the structure of Kindred society, I immediately thought to myself, “If she isn’t Brujah, someone screwed up somewhere.” What sold it for me regardless was how everyone reacted when they found out: it was as though so many questions got answered in that one instant (which they absolutely should have; she was exhibiting textbook Brujah behavior). I knew exactly where the story was going, but how the story and characters got there kept me invested regardless.
TheComicBookJoker Very true, though to be fair, from what I’ve read amidst the different clans/bloodlines, Gangrel would have been another possibility. But yes, Brujah would have been #1 on the list, so when she announced that (Eva) I was like, “Yep. No surprise there.” And in all seriousness, why DON’T they have vampire educators lol.
As others have noted, (and in the campaign too) it's like Erica went down a list of Brujah stereotypes...
"You have the conch!" Best moment. It really picked up when Annabelle showed up.
I related to Nelli G's "First off...NO!" on a spiritual level
Alexander is so good as portraying this character. He's so expressive with his facial expressions, even when he's in the background. I find Jasper creepy but the same time cute (?) in his own way. Absolutely love him
Also the make up and the vampire tooth are just CHEF'S KISS
All the subtle details he adds in his role playing… oh man…
The growls, the frequent and instant switch between laughing and deadpan, the exaggerated body language… so on point, so on point
'Your Vampire Daddy'
*dies of lmao*
And the Award for best supporting Vampire actress in an evening drama goes to..........Annabelle!
Goodness, what an amazingly talented actor!
All the emotion was so real with unsettling undertones.
Right?! She’s really good. Later on they all improve quite well, especially Cynthia Marie.
I'm 10 minutes in and I'm already in love with the cast.
Jasper’s ”Bye Chris” fucking broke me
Annabelle is a precious peanut and must be protected at all costs.
I also adore Jasper very much.
Asha Hall no spoilers, but wait till they upload the later episodes. Things turn dark for her very quickly. Her whole world has been turned upside down and inside out.
@@ZenZudokai well crap...
The Symbiote Nation. Oh yeah. To summarize, and I won’t specify who says this for spoiler reasons, but someone said, “I forget that about a month ago, you were a grad student living a very different life. And I forget how new, and horrifying this all is for you.”
@@ZenZudokai ok also, we thought that us Symbiotes where ugly, but the Nosferatu are Ugly AF.
The Symbiote Nation. Their reflection shows a glimpse of the monster that they try so desperately to lock within themselves. That all Kindred try to lock within themselves. I personally don’t buy Victor’s crap about Kindred being the ‘essence’ of humanity. The essence of all that is the darkness of humans? Maybe. But after all, in all fairness, a person’s actions determine who is a monster and who is not.
I couldnt keep my eyes off of Alex Ward... his mannerisms are so entrancing! Lol
the work that was placed in the characters is insane! jasper really feels like a nosferatu!
also shout out to jason carl for mastering this amazing session!
This was recommended to me by a friend who knows I love vampire stories, and The Masquerade did not disappoint! I can’t wait to tune in for the next chapter!
One of the best groups I've watched online. Don't pass on this one!
