- I received an email from Vevor asking me if I would be interested in reviewing their Vevor Cut 50 Plasma Cutter. I agreed and they sent me a machine to review. A viewer sent a comment with this link: assets.publishing.service.gov...
It is a government report on a safety issue with a Vevor Cut 50 where the fuse had been bypasses with potential for serious consequenses. I also found a similar report for a Vevor welding machine. If you own any Vevor equipment it may be worth checking the fuse.

Hard to believe Chinese Companies would cut corners on a simple thing like a fuse in a plug 😞Nice one Russell for pointing it out 🙂
I cannot understand how these machines are making it into the UK when the authorities are aware of the issue. The issue was discovered here in the UK by the relevant government department. :-(
My father went to do some installation of some cheap Chinese steel processing machinery at a site in the UK once. Arrived with no guards or any safety at all. So he had to fabricate it all.
I do think that the majority of imports from China are fine. It is just the occasional one where corners are cut. It shows a lack of care here in the UK when no action appears to be taken to address the situation after these problems are discovered by the relevant authorities. :-)
That is simply terrifying. The importer should be prosecuted.
It is very risky and should be controlled. I have seen reports by trading standards where this has been discovered when products have been inspected on arrival and they are still being delivered like this!

Have you tried it with a correct 13A plug? Presumably it will blow?

Well, I replaced the 13A fuse with a genuine one and the plasma cutter seemed to work normally. I only made three fairly small cuts, but had the Amps at 50, which is the maximum. I reckon it was running for around a minute. Time will tell! :-)
