Also I think the nightmare of there being monsters in the basement was his manifestation of his father when he tied him down there and made him shoot their dog, including the reason why he was worried about losing his mother in his dreams.

Steven To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily from Narodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick and Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existencial catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools... how I pity them. 😂 And yes by the way, I DO have a Rick and Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

I love they also show the dad genuinely trying to be a dad.
He was terrible at it, but you can see the values he instilled in BJ. Never let anyone push you around, face your battles head on, stand up for yourself.
The problem was, he taught BJ to do that primarily through violence. Meaning the only way he knows how to actually stand up to problems is through violence.
He’s incredibly lucky that he also had a mother who taught him things like the value of kindness and love. Otherwise, he could have easily ended up like his father. A bitter, and terrible human being.

I agree, He had a good point in most of them, Telling Billy to go fight his own battle and TAKE BACK what belongs to him, that certainly wasn't a negative lesson, But the part where he slapped him across the face and kicked him out of the house was not needed.
And onto the next one, While cruel and cold, he had a good point about the whole "It's kill or be killed, The old and the weak are doomed.", and he was right that you have to make very hard decisions in life and the weak will be weeded out, It's cruel, but in a world like Wolfenstein, it is correct, Especially considering how his son eventually seems to agree with him, As a matter of fact, When he thinks he is going to die, His chosen last (Internal) words are "The old...and the weak... are doomed.".
In short, His father was right, in a way, he just fucked up by trying to prove his point with beatings, hatred and violence.

His dad says that when you do no wrong then the monsters go away. That's why it went away from his father

I feel like they way too overshot that meet-up scene with his father. In most flashbacks he seems cruel but you can see his reasons. He was born and raised in diferent times with different believes and while its bad there's not mutch he can do about that, its how he was taught to live. In most scenes he looks cruel but he does what he does trying to do the right thing. I used to have a similar childhood and while it wasnt pleasant it taught me life, and when after years i confronted my dad we came to understanding and are on great terms now. Meanwhile in the last scene they blow him out of proportion makeing him look like pure evil, and im not a fan of that. I'd mutch rather see him give us perspective on positive normal citizen's life under nazi rule without trechery and backstabbing.
