I'm so glad Richard did his homework and genuinely admires Tolkien as an author and person. He deserves the role of Thorin and continues to do it justice.
He seems to always take his roles really seriously no matter how small (which is what a great actor should do). And fans getting to be in something they love always turns out amazing in my opinion (the Star Trek reboot, Tennant & Capaldi as the Doctor, etc) because they know the story and the fanbase (what with being a member of it) :)
I love this man. He is a complete character. Talented, smart, cultured, handsome, has charisma and a voice that thrills me. A man who does not like to expose and there is so much which deserves attention. I enjoy to see him, hear and follow all of it.
I am so glad that finally everyone in the media will realize the precious gem of an actor Richard Armitage is. There is no arguing that lately the average actor/actress barely can act. On the other hand to see such a great actor like Richard being pushed aside for them is actually very frustrating. But finally... finally he is getting the fame he deserves for his acting.

His sense of humor is so gentle, it just makes me want to smile till my face splits in half. And the way he is obviously so bashful about his sex appeal is simply irresistible!

I always thought the perfect man doesn’t exist. But here he is Richard Armitage.
He's the only person I know of who has mentioned the fact that Tolkien was a devout Christian & actually had something positive to say about it...that takes a lot of courage. My respect level has just gone way up.
He took it really well, the fan vid. There is an artist on deviantbart that got to meet him & he signed one of her drawings of Thorin. The artist said he was great about. Loved it. He seems pretty cool about his fans.
His parents should be proud they raised such a lovely, decent, humble man. So thank you, John and Margaret Armitage!
This has to be the best interview about The Hobbit I've seen. Richard gets to show off his knowledge and the host is great too. Well done.

I love this conversation! Less "How did it feel to wear the hair/costume/makeup" and more about what the story means, and the respect shown to the folks of New Zealand.

There's no other words that cause such tension as Jesus, Christ or Christianity, especially in Hollywood, that for him to even bring it up, much less in a positive light as "nobility expressed in kindness and mercy", it shows to me he's not afraid to express what he feels even if it means going against Hollywood expectations.
Loved when they showed him the video and he covered his eyes, I fell inlove again!

I understood what you meant. :) I think it's part of the fact that he's an actor and wants to be seen as such but also the fact that his humbleness makes him uncomfortable at the sex symbol status. I think he is adorable and very well informed.

I keep coming back to watch this. One of my fave interviews. Great questions and as usual, Richard gives well thought-out answers. *Sigh* I'm just gonna keep on watching old RA/Hobbit interviews till the DoS media blitz hits this year.

Yeah, it's going to be pretty grueling for him. I agree about the fan vid. That Speedo part still makes *me* blush every time. LOL. Nothing against fan vids, though. A lot of them, especially RA character fanvids (which I prefer), are well-crafted and fun to watch.
I mean there is a reason why it is said that his Mr. Thornton rivals against Colin Firth's Mr. Darcy.
