One of the biggest reasons I think everyone love him is that he genuinely does care about each and every role he does and puts so much thought into it. Fire any question about Thorin at him and he can respond with a paragraph. Not saying that other actors don't do that either, but he just puts in so much work and research.
Hrnggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg! fywurfguoer
I was a fan of Richard Armitage for years before The Hobbit. I first saw him in the BBC's Robin Hood in 2006 and then in Spooks from 2008. When they wrote out his character from Spooks (2010 now) I was quite pissed off. Then I found out that it was so he could go and get his big film break playing one of the main characters in one of the biggest film series of the decade and felt a lot happier about it all. Well done to Richard Armitage for a fantastic career, and for finally achieving the success and recognition that he has long deserved
+Poppy M Actually they did kill off Lucus North on Spooks. Season 9 was all about Norths past, and how he became Lucus. At the end of season 9 his past kinda catches up with him. He is pursued by Harry to the top of a tall building then rather than facing prison North steps over the edge- backwards- still facing Harry, he said at the last... "Bye Harry." and allows himself to fall backwards. I wasched the interview for the ninth season and Richard talked a lot about his conversations with the directer and writers- "I just didn't want a violent death...I'm not really that sort of guy, violent. I was happy with what they did with it." Snd, in another interview Richard talked about how Strike back had effected him. He sayd he found himself not calling home, not skypeing people like he usually did, and how the story actually gotten into his head. ?Then when the 3rd one came a long I knew I wasn't going to have time to do both roles full time- not with half a planet between to two locations. So I let them know from the start I could do almost like cameos is all."
It was that interview he admitted to being relieved some what that he was not going back into 'all that' ... All cleared up?
What Poppy is saying is they did not kill RA's Spooks character because he was leaving the show for The Hobbit. What killed Lucas North was writers' idiocy. She was correcting OP's misapprehension that RA still had a contract with Spooks when The Hobbit came along. No, it was actually Strike Back. I hope this clears things up.
Yeah. Feeling nostalgic for pre-Twitter/AUJ RA. :-)
Aidan Turner's departure from Being Human coincided with him heading off the do the Hobbit. And that was with BBC, though Turner's storyline in that did feel like a natural end.
I recognize him first in The Hobbit and then I was searching for more. Now I think heiß one of the best actors today. 😁
This is probably my favorite interview he has done. He seems so relaxed :) And he actually got to talk! I just love how all his answers are always so thoughtful.
How come you smile the same way as when you were a child Richard? So uncorrupted and heartfelt. ❤️
Why did it take me so long to discover this great man? Richard, you rock my Dwarvish socks!
I totally agree
Richard is very descriptive of the character of Thorin. I can't imagine Thorin being played by anyone else other than him!!!!
I actually didn't recognize Thorin as Guy of Gisborne until I did some Googling. Man, he is good at portraying anything!!!
I know
You always get rich quality interview with Richard A. and you want to hear more. God Bless You Richard with your kind heart and how you share your thoughts.
Whatever he has to say, I would listen to him. Don't know if it makes sense but he is so captivating!
Try to catch North and South (not the US one, but the English tv series, a love story that will make any woman's heart turn over).
Richard nailing it as Mr. Thornton
He’s so dreamy.
No man could ever play Thornton but Richard.
I love this interview! he gives us so much insight into how he put Thorin together and stuff... All in that gorgeous voice of his :)
The Hobbit definitely made me aware of him. He was phenomenal as Thorin and all I can see while I am reading the book.
Richard I just love you. You are truly amazing!!!!
Apart from the fact that he is an excellent actor in numerous roles, he is damned intelligent
Richard Armitage is amazing - North and South - Spooks - Robin Hood - I hope The Hobbit is the vehicle that allows EVERYBODY to know what an unbelievable talent he really is
Best interview I have seen with Richard...I just love all the surprises that were thrown in for Richard. Love his reaction to his fan's creativity. I think he is really flattered by it all.
Yesss! Richard Armitage!!!!! About to be as big of a star in North America as he is in the UK. An inspired choice - PJ in casting for Thorin. NORTH & SOUTH!!!!
Richard Armitage: "There's a lot of magic in this room." ROFL! xD
He looks like a cross between Hugh Jackman and Edward Norton.
Haha. Totally!!! 😍🤣
Now I know, WHY I love him so much. 😁
Damn man!
Thanks for posting this. I just love watching and listening to mr A in interviews.
lucky you LOL. I rofl-ed when I saw his reaction. I feel awkward for him, but that was worth it :)) such a shy guy.
Thorin Oakenshield, perhaps the greatest name in cinematic and literary history.
I am so struck 😍
that lucky red chair!
One day I hope to tell Richard he watched my fan video lol 😂
I love how he strays away from talking about "naughty grass" at "8 o'clock at night... " lol. It's so clean-cut of him, lol. Sort of like the "60 mins" for Cinemax bit he does with Martin Freeman, in which he corrects Martin about the "milky white POWDER substance," bit, so as not to confuse it with OTHER milky white substances, lol. Makes him seem very conscientious and reserved somehow, which is very endearing. WHICH is what i'd call his reaction to the fan video at the end, endearing. :)
I'm a Catholic as well, and hearing him talking about the Catholic Faith is very inspiring for me!!!!
Great interview!
Omg I can't believe they used your video that's so awesome!!!
Oh my! Congrats! You like his reaction to it? Its precious!
that was hilarious how he couldnt even get through a second of that video without covering his eyes in embarrassment.. these poor guys! lol!
Lol woah was not expecting him to tackle the interviewer that just came out of nowhere
Let's hear it for Speedos! Google Richard and you can find all kinds of beautiful and funny stuff all done with respect and love.
fantastic interview
Finally, a good interview about "The Hobbit", thank you.
I was actually rooting for Richard to play the role of 'Kahn/John Harrison' in 'Star Trek: Into Darkness', but I'm glad he's actually the hero for once.
So that's where the strangling gif came from! Lol
great interview
That put a smile on my face hahaha.. Poor Richard, no escape from fans lol :) The facepalm was great!
That's because he was not so famous then , as he is now . Just my opinion.
lol, i could feel his embarassment, but it's still so adorable!!
amen
I LIVE ON THE SAME ROAD THAT HE LIVED ON AND I WENT TO HE SAME SCHOOL
It was kinda funny at the beginning when he ran in
Would be very happy if he gets the role of Batman!
piemakesmelol or James Bond ;)
He does play Logan/Wolverine in a podcast on Spotify. Listening to it will be the best decision of your life!!!!
Hahaha Naughty grass. Oh, Richard!
hey, could you tell me, out of which video from you this segment was?
Thank you
8:50 - The most priceless facepalm on Earth
I prefer to see him like this, without beard.
I like him more with beard, but I think he's sexy. Any time 😁
"Naughty grass" hahahah Love it!!
Make sure you leave a spoiler alert warning when leaving messages like that.
Yeah.. sorry, haven't thought of that...
7:55 Elisa
You R right Thora! Whitin limits, it´s ok. But belive or not, there are also guys who go to the limits.
Tolkien himself once said that he didn't think any historical context into the books, when he wrote both the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings.
damn i want a gandalf hat lol
Wow he looks a cross between Daniel Radcliffe and Hugh Jackman.
Hugh Jackman and Edward Norton
The facepalm🤣
OMG I was just thinking "the person who made this must be dying atm!!!" That's so awesome!! :D
Sorry to say, he seems like related to Hugh Jackman, the resemblance
is it hopeless? is it really? i'm still hoping here T_T
He tackled him at 9:01!!!
That´s the nice part of being well-known, handsome, nice and talented = popularity. But if you girls make him hard times following him or screaming in audience in tv show, where he is guest, definitely it will not help you to catch him. He is human, who separate job from film roles!!! Uderstood?! Better do not torture yourself dreaming about actors, but go out and let some other nice guy be part of your life. The life is not a movie! Good luck to everyone!
7:43 and 7:55 you can see Elisa Lam in the audience :( months before her "mysterious" death. So sad😔
Tolkien did specifically say that the Dwarves were influenced by the Jews.
In one interview it said he was pure evil I'm like no that just messed up he is more of a romantic person
He looks like 25 at the age of 39.
I keep hoping Peter Jackson will stray from Tolkien's version and keep Thorin alive at the end!!! It's hopeless..
Laurie James: People already know that. Especially all his girl fans, dreaming to marry him:) Unfortunately, if he "marries" someone, with high probability it ll be some collegue from the film. Unfortunately, i like this guy too, of course. But there are other lovely guys in this World! Cheer up girls!
lmfao that must've been awkward
Naughty grass. Haaa.
Omg that was embarrassing lmao
