    MCDM’s Beastheart is a perfect fit for this setting! I ran a one shot with an infernal beastheart and it was an amazing session! The party having a borderline feral monster traveling with them makes an unforgettable experience.

    This setting would be perfect for exploring/crafting the backstories of characters, especially Demon Lords, that we know were once mortal. Take Baphomet for example, whose lore states that in life he was a man who made chattel of the Gods.
    Imagine being the party that has to unite the major clans to face down a great orc warband that has been desecrating God Hollows for the Divine Ivory. Whose chieftain (the BBEG/Baphomet) is the first know Archdruid after having leeched the Divine power from them, and now seeks the greatest power of all, that of the Worldheart Dargon within Blood Mountain.
    And although the Abyss is yet to exist in this setting, I think, when it is created his soul could be one of the first condemned and reassigned for the great evils and transgressions committed in life.

  • @krinkrin5982
    @krinkrin5982 Před měsícem +2

    You don't really have to use the hounds of Tindaloss to stop players from creating bronze. You can just have it where their characters have no idea what the ore looks like or that it can be smelted down. The area they are in might also not even have the right minerals for it. After all, America lacks a reliable source of tin.
    I love the idea of wizards tattooing spells onto their bodies.
    I would also incorporate the fame optional rule as your standing within the clan and your clan's standing within the larger area.
    Having tieflings be ones touched by a god kinda flips their interactions with the world on its head. That sounds incredibly interesting.
    Another thing I feel is important is keeping track of spell components. Your 1st level spellcaster should not have enough components to continue casting their spells infinitely, especially since a lot of the components listed for spells are not available. Instead a big part of the early adventures for them should be going on quests to find the special materials used in their magic.
    I've toyed with the idea of a stone age campaign multiple times in the past, but never really managed it. This might be a good way of finally playing it.

    I’m actually wondering if you do absolutely want to add metal into the setting I would have it be a very rare gift from a God you worship or a very rare find from a high-level enemy. I would believe that technically this isn’t giving them new technology, as it would be giving slivers of divinity to whoever uses such tools in very rare amounts perhaps only the person who is gifted the tool could use it properly.

    • @IWestrada
      @IWestrada Před 2 měsíci +2

      It might make sense to make it a 1 foot square per level. Then, at least the wizard could feasibly have multiple walls. Exhaustion is also extremely punishing. The party would have to wait days for the spellskin to add spells to their wall and recover off exhaustion. I would want to either use different rules or make the exhaustion easier to remove.

    Kinda disappointing that paladins are just paladins instead of getting a unique primal spin like most of the others.

      Guardians (paladins) are flavored to be protectors of their clan's shaman, wielding the magic clan weapon gifted by their primary god

      For the purpose of the setting they are in-book one of the 'saurian people'.
      Look pop culture is still at odds with the idea of feathers, maybe in 2100 we would have shifted to 'avian dinosaurs' rather than 'pterodactyls'

    Some of the classes just do not fit this setting. Especially monk. If the theme of the setting is "struggling to survive" , then a character that needs NOTHING as they level up is just antithetical to that setting.
    I'd also argue that paladin and bard also don't fit, but they're much less odd than monk.
    And obviously artificer should just not exist based on the lore about not having any tech. If the wheel isn't allowed then neither is anything they can make.
