Very useful video Jimmy, thank you. I'm having a problem in which I'm confident as in I can speak publicly very well and I have went on stage before and delivered phenomenal presentations, but there's a thing in which seems to be haunting me and it happens generally in closed meetings where something of importance need to be said or in a group of 10-20 people in which I'm an active spectator and I need to say something. So what happens is that I'm holding something in the back of my mind and it's interesting and adds a lot to the conversation at hand, but I don't say it immediately because I be waiting for a perfect moment (allegedly), While at the same time I'm pushing myself to say it and I repeat it in my head (say it say it). So when it's time for me to say it, I think the immense pressure and adrenaline of me wanting to say that thing affects me immediately, that "kick", and what happens is that I actually run out of breath in a way... in the first two-three words, which is rather interesting, because shortage of breath is not a thing for me. So, I'm assuming it is the anxiety or adrenaline kick that comes with me finally saying what's in my mind. So I'd like to know how will I fix this problem? Thank you.
Well, I'm slightly biased, but my approach would be to work on firstly why you're not making that "interesting contribution to the meeting, and secondly (let's say that you feel judged, or you suffer perhaps from imposter syndrome at that moment), where that derives from. We can also control the short breaths and improve your delivery at the same time.
is it really possible to increase voice volume? dont we all have a specific ceiling for the loudest we can speak? I am so tired of hearing people say to me to speak louder. It has destroyed my social life, literally destroyed
Loudness isn’t about volume, it’s about creating more resonance. There are a few elements that need to be present before you can create this, which are correct breathing, a relaxed body allignment and access to the various areas of resonance ‘ such as the chest and oral cavity. If you’d like to know more please consider booking a call.
Sir, thank you for this video. Also, id like to hear your thoughts on this situation I’m in… when im in a conversation, I tend to start tensing up towards the middle/end of it. I usually have to cut it short cuz I don’t want to make it even more awkward. Can they tell if this change is happening in me? I feel like my neck and shoulders start tensing. I feel my mouth and nose kind of shutting as well. It’s kind of weird. It’s like I lose a little control and everything Ive learned goes out the window. Idk if it’s in my head or if they can see it too… idk what to do. My voice has been really affecting my life. I don’t even want to pursue a career rn cause of it, and also some back pain. But it’s mostly the voice, I’m still not confident, even after 2-3 years of watching voice coaches online. Thanks
Perhaps it time you took this to next level? What you're experiencing is a physiological response to anxiety. It's probably not as obvious to others as you might think, but it's evidently affecting your life. Happy to have a chat: calendly.com/jimmycannonvoicecoach/discovery-call-with-jimmy-cannon
You need to create more chest resonance to come out of your creak. Have a look at this video and tell me how you get on: czcams.com/video/1ZQXRzj4FxA/video.htmlsi=Dye4sO_wS3uptfEY
