LOL, True story: I once, as a teacher walked down from the third floor to the first floor with Joel Klein. He was walking with my principal. It was total chance that I was walking with them. He did not ask me my name, my position, or my opinion on anything. He didn't even acknowledge me. Now, that's a leader! Guy wouldn't last two weeks in a public school with at-risk kids, yet he ran the NYC school system. If I was 30 years in at the time and not 10, I would have handed him some chalk and told him, "You do it."

Rhee is basically telling the students, and you seem to agree, that they shouldn't be critical and take action against a system that oppresses them as it is. Instead, they should abide by the laws that subjugate them, and maybe a couple out of the thousands will 'make it out' as rappers or athletes.
It's like telling someone in a race to start 20 meters behind. Then, when they don't win, you blame them becuase they 'didn't work hard enough.' Schools should be exposing these inequities!

"Im focused on the end result that has to happen ... if there are rules standing in the way ... I will bend those rules"
That sounds like the justification for Guantanamo Bay and extraordinary rendition.

What makes you think she will fix DC?

Without doing anything, their lives are ruined anyways. In fact lives of children from the past couple of decades have been ruined already.

I bet all of those Urban Americans are mad, they had to bring in a Korean to fix the mess they have made. Maybe, just maybe the schools will see some improvement......NAH, not any real improvement.

i do not like that head of union guy, seems very skeptical about everything. change cannot happen if you do not believe in it. just seems like someone who wants things to stay the same and for them to get theirs first... not the children

the fact says students are doing alot better and bad teachers are getting fired ASAP instead of getting paid staying in the rubberroom while doing NOTHING. How ignorant you have to be when there's fact right in front of you and you still say she's bad, horrible, or w/e the term you want to use.
get over it bad teachers. If you have time to come here watch the video, and make nasty comments because you're probably going to get fired soon, well you better study more and get better at teaching.
