01:14 How to fix a trunk light on your car?
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
One of the most annoying car problems is when the trunk light doesn't work.
Although it may seem not that important, this becomes a serious problem once you can't see where the spare tire is or where to put your things.
As you'll see, fixing the trunk light is pretty easy. Most of the time the light bulb is the problem although the electric connector on the trunk light housing or switch on the locking mechanism can also cause problems.
This repair isn't needy regarding tools and time which is one more reason why you shouldn't try to do this repair.

Hi and thanks for watching. Yes, there is a fuse for sure. On my Skoda which the video was done on, it's fuse number 36.
There should be a diagram on your car's fuse box lid or in the user manual.

Thank u sir. I noticed my light still didn't work, but I noticed if it would touch metal in a certain spot it would turn on. I put the light back in its place and it's not making contact. No light

I didn't quite understand the question but I'll give it a try. Some lights use the metal holding clip for a ground connection. If it doesn't have good contact with the car body, the light won't work.
      Hope this helps.

      @@DespairRepair Yes indeed!
I managed to find that out today because I replaced the bulb after shorting it yesterday and it worked...only to blow again when putting the assembly back into the body
Rule 1. Don't have the lights on when replacing bulbs.
Rule 2. If you stupidly forget Rule 1 and cause a short circuit. Turn ignition on off which seems to reset it.

Hi Juraj and thanks for watching!
Did you pinpoint the problem, was it actually the lightbulb or something else (like the switch, connector, etc).
Some more information would be good.
Btw, nice channel and good videos.

There is a diode in the circuit, if it is open, current will not reach the bulb.

    • @JamesStern-wr3pf
      @JamesStern-wr3pf Před rokem

@@franciscocarvalho2970 Lights of this type use a 71N400 type diode, typically seems to be fitted with the grey band at the end of the diode fitted so that the grey band is furthest from the electrical connection end of the fitment. It seems that sometimes the diode fails - these diodes are available at very low cost online such as from the most commonly used online auction site. However, for reasons unknown, not all light fitments of this type incorporate the diode - some just don't have it, and therefore have less to go wrong.
