Prisma Verithins set of 36 (useful hair colors are dark brown, dark umber, white, and black. I also use dahlia purple to shade lightly next to fingernail moons)

You can also buy them individually at dickblick .com. If you can't get verithins, regular prismas will work fine too, they just won't shade lightly as well.

Thank you so much Michelle. I absolutely love all your videos and your Work is breathtaking. 💕
Found it very helpful! I subbed.
@@aliceinwonderland4682 thanks so much! 🥰
I am so happy that I found your video on this subject...my shoulder was doing the same thing and I had to find another way to keep my love of Reborns going
I use to do reborning. But a couple years ago I started getting numbness and pain in my right hand. Makes any crafting, or artwork very difficult. I became very depressed as I'm a very creative person and need an outlet for that. I boxed the kits I had left and stopped reborning. But I got them out 3 days ago. All my supplies, and decided I should finish them. I'm a wobbly mess and they aren't near as good as I use to be able to do. But I'm just giving them to my daughter, she doesn't mind. I take frequent breaks and I'm dreading rooting hair. So I'm gonna try painting it, for the first time.
I’m the same way - I get depressed if I don’t have a creative outlet. I started rooting again in September which was a big mistake, causing pain in my shoulders and hands. Now I’m determined to learn hair painting and have been practicing every day. Prismas are an excellent way to start, and learn hair movement without the additional challenges of brushes and paint consistency. I’m happy to hear that you’re giving it a go! Let me know if you need any help at michellebelle100@yahoo.com.
Great Tutorial! You are a very good teacher. Thank you for making this video. Please make more. As a brand new artist in much need of these types of videos
Thanks so much for saying so! I really like teaching but am unsure if I’m explaining things well enough so I really appreciate your comment ❤️

Gracias, se necesita ser artista para atreverse a pintar el pelo de un reborn y venderlo porque he visto videos de quienes compran reborn y se llevan una desagradable sorpresa. Te felicito.

You do beautiful work. The arthritis I have is most prevalent in my hands. They currently about 80 - 90% disabled. Has any doctor ever told you that the way you hold your crafting tools may be contributing to your discomfort? Also using modified, cushioned pencil adapters that are available for extra hand comfort can help. Hope you're feeling better.
Thank you. I actually brought a doll head and an (needle-less) rooting tool into physical therapy for advice. I don’t seem to have any pain these days now that I’m painting hair
Oh how I wish you'd do a 3d hair painting tutorial. I bought the blonde hair paints and when I did, no one had the book.
I don’t have the book either, but I just use the paints in order, dark to light. Also, Christine Woolley has a CZcams channel with some demonstration videos 🙂
on goodness it looks like real hair.beatiful. I want to try to paint a reborn but I'm afraid to ruin it. so can a person get a cheaper kit to begin with.ty.
Yes, dolls by Sandie
sells practice heads for $10, and bountiful baby often has discounted kits
Bought verithins to follow along, but they won’t mark on the vinyl, even after varnishing twice. I guess I’ll just try with my regular prisma!
I haven’t gotten them to mark on top of varnish, only the rebornfx sealer
Fab video. ! Which sealer would you recommend for heat set paints please xx
Thanks! Unfortunately I have no experience with heat set paints to know what to recommend
Thank you for your lovely videos ! Can you tell me how long you need to wait before sealing over the painted hair ? thank you ♥
If it’s prisma, you can seal it right after drawing it. If it’s paint, it would depend on the kind of paint you’re using, but for Ultimate Fusion paint it’s 72 hours to cure
Thankyou so much for this. Just what I was looking for. I just finished my baby and I’m so impressed with myself after following your tutorial. What colour pencils would you suggest the best. I’ve got most of the prismacolour browns.
What colour would you use for fair/blonde.
So glad it was helpful! I like a mix of beige and white for blonde hair. I seal over the prisma color beige (because it’s not a verithin it gets goopy if it’s built up too much) and use white to go over mostly just the Y shapes.
@@PalmviewReborns thankyou. I’m so excited to start my next one
Wonderful tutorial! What magnifying glass set up are you using?
Thanks! It’s a NEWACALOX Adjustable 5X Magnifier Desk Lamp.
Please tell me how to remove baked Prisma from vinyl. I drew a rooting map and you can see the lines under the hair. 😢😢😢😢
Maravilhoso mas ensina como misturar a tinta
Can I use any brand sealer for my doll’s head before I draw on hair?
I love your video and your dolls. Your a great teacher. Do you have painting tutorials for air dry paints? I would like to learn more. Links to supplies? I can't find the air dry medium sealer you used.
Thanks! I don’t have a hair painting tutorial yet, but I’d like to make one with Ultimate Fusion paint. The medium is rebornfx sealer, sold by macpherson craft here: macphersoncrafts.com/online-store/rebornfx/rebornfx-air-dry-mediums/reborn-fx-air-sealer.htm
Thank you so much for replying to my comment that means a lot to me. I love watching your video over and over. I am new at this and are still learning on my own , oh well now I have your help. The thing I still can’t get is the rooting hair. I tried mohair and I really don’t like it. Synthetic hair I can’t cut or place right. I drew my rooting map and well it doesn’t look pretty. That’s why I saw your video on pencil hair and loved it. Can you tell me what is the best way to root hair and the hair that is close to human hair that would work? Oh and do you use multiple colors for pencil hair to make it look so gorgeous?
I usually use just one color, and use less or more pressure to make it darker or lighter. Mohair is softer for babies (I like hp baby locks best), but human hair is often used for toddlers. Just be sure to take frequent breaks! I’m still dealing with tendonosis from “powering through” some rooting sessions in September
Also, I wonder if you didn’t like mohair because it was “ruby red” brand or “sophias heritage.” Those are awful to root with
Thankyou for this tutorial. I sed genisis heat set paint. I think it will be textured enough for the pencil to show up, but should I seal over it to keep it in place. So it doesn't wear off with cloth changing etc?
I wish I knew more about genesis to be able to help, but you will want to seal over it with something to keep it from rubbing off
Perfeito..
My prisma‘s won’t stick to the vinyl in some places what do you do to get them in harder places and how do u set them?Thank you
I would go over any areas that don’t stick with rebornfx sealer pounced on without any water on the sponge. And then pounce on the sealer again after drawing with the pencils to seal your work. Let dry 2 days and then matte varnish after that.
Is there an alternative to prisma colors? I can't get them in my country 😭😭😭
So this is what to use to seal my prism pencil hair on my reborn doll? I heard a heat set varnish works but I am new so I feel lost. I don’t bake my reborn dolls .. I love prism pencil hair and I want to seal it right. I reborn dolls on vinyl with acrylic air born paints… help please
Rebornfx sealer is great for sealing prismas with air dry paints. It helps reduce shine as well. You can get it at macpherson craft
Amei seu vídeo, moro no Brasil, gostaria de saber qual lápis ✏️ vc usa? desde já agradeço.
Really great video what packet of pencils do u get
Thanks! I like the prisma verethins
is the pencil ur using oily and do I seal with something in using air dried paint.ty.
The prisma verethins aren’t as oily as some other brands. I do seal them with rebornfx sealer
Hi dear , I’m a very beginner and I use air dry paint . I have few questions. Before I start mapping should I seal and varnish the head ?? .
And how long i need to keep the varnish to get cured before I start mapping???
Also
After I did the hair should I seal and vanish again ???
Hair I want to do with prisma color pencils
I seal before mapping, but I don’t varnish yet, as the pencils don’t show up as well with varnish. If you’re using rebornfx sealer, wait 48 hours for it to cure first. Then do mapping and hair, and seal again, then varnish. You could skip the sealer the second time and go straight to varnishing at the end, but If your buyer ever gets a mark on their doll that they need to remove with rubbing alcohol, the sealer gives some protection to the layers underneath, so I do it as extra protection. Hope that helps!
Can you use these with air dry acrylics
I paint with air dry acrylics first, and then seal and then use pencils, or you can seal over the pencils and paint with acrylics on top of that.
,,No I dont wanna go this way ...I wanna go straight,, hahahahahahahahahahahaha I love it :)
Can you share the color prisma pencils you use? Have you ever done a dark blonde?
I just used your video to do a practice head! I wish you could see my first time. I think I am getting it!
@@Lindasromperroom awesome!
I used dark umber prisma verithin. I haven’t found a good color for dark blonde, which is part of the reason I switched to paint for hair.
Oops, I posted that before you addressed that issue.
Do you have to seal a new doll before painting?
I don’t, but I use ultimate fusion paint which doesn’t require sealing or priming first
hello do you use prisma color watercolor?
Prisma verithins
Hi, I have the same pencils but for some reason the pencil won't work on the doll? Sometimes it will but most of the time it doesnt matter how much I try the pencil just won't draw, if I push too hard it scratches the vinyl 😭 it looks life your drawing effortlessly and I just don't understand because its just a pencil 😭
The sealer gives it “tooth” so the pencils show up. It always works if I use the rebornfx sealer first but without it they won’t show up
same! even after using sealer
I was making a reborn with air dty paints from Lilian Trigg shop but there was no thinner in a starter pack and all went wrong. :(

What is the best mohair to buy that isn’t frizzy and awful
HP baby locks is my favorite. Southern Charm and silk effex are good too.
@@PalmviewReborns We are people who don't know things we don't know about, and when asked about mohair your reply use HP who the **** is HP? Then the next group. WHERE did you get yours?? A website? Which one? on Amazon???
@@terribeck4473 Sorry, HP is short for Heidi Politz, but it’s just called “HP baby locks.” If you google it, you’ll see it on Macphersoncrafts.com or Irresistables.com, both reputable reborn sellers. Silk effects has their own website at silkeffexmohair.com, and southern charm sells through their southern charm mohair Facebook group (you message them to order). Hope that helps!
