I sold on Amazon retail side for years and at one point was selling 55K a year. Every thing she describes is accurate. When selling on Amazon you have to adopt a large retailer mentality. The biggest thing you need to learn is that frivlous returns and being occasionally scammed is part of doing business. Refund and move on. If you go to the seller forums they will tell you to fight this kind of stuff and hold out restocking fees. These are large sellers that have enough sales to absorb a bad feedback or customer dispute. As a smaller seller you cant. The first time I got scammed I fought it. Amazon always sides with the buyer so I lost. I only lost $60 to the scammer but lost $1000's of dollars in sales in the next 6 months till that loss dropped off my metrics.
Thank you for taking the time to do such a thorough review. You just saved me a ton of time. 💗
I really needed to hear an honest and objective opinion from a seller's point of view. Everyone just tries to sell you something and do not tell you these things. Thank you for this video, super helpful!
This was a awesome review on what its actually like...Thank you for being so transparent..its helpful 🥰
Thank you for sharing all this great information!! So much great information! Love all your videos!!
f austin aww thank you 💕
I’ve found great suppliers that I’ve been working with. I really like the fact that suppliers are already pre-screened and I don’t have to go through the run around of figuring out if these people are legitimate. And there’s the forum so if I ever get stuck, I can always talk to someone.visit *MyOnlineSelling. Com* for more info
Fantastic review! It was so honest and helpful! Best wishes for your business!
Thank you, seriously, it´s been a nightmare selling on amazon handmade, I´m new to online selling and I cannot find a way to advertise my product, I´m about to give up selling on amazon.
This video was very informative! I just stated on Amazon handmade and wanted to know more about it! Thank you! Subscribed 😉
Thank you for sharing. I had such trouble with amazon seller account and my product. Glad to see this review and ways to cope with these issues.
Very straight to the point, thank you, very helpful video
This is so true and is exactly my experience. Thank you for this review. It is so bad for sellers in so many ways that I hesitate to believe how this company has gotten so far. Maybe it won't be on top forever.
Great video 😊 I just got approval for the standard amazon selling, but thinking of going to the handmade side. This was really informative, thank you 😊 💜
How has the journey been
This had been the most honest review on amazon selling
Thank you very much! I changed my mind. It was too good to be true. I paint on oil on canvas as a hobby. I was thinking about it but to be honest I don't like headache in my life. I won't make any money but I still be happy painting when I feel like it without any pressure. 🤣👍
Awesome review. Thank you!
Wonderful information. Was about to start with AMAZON handmade but was apprehensive. Listening to your video gave me much insight. Thank for you your HONESTY...
Great video . A lot of useful information. Thank you.
This was so informative, thanks so much!
This was very helpful, thanks for sharing ❤
Thank you for this frank review. The difficulty of communication, the cumbersome interface and the rating system of Amazon Handmade have confirmed my fears so now I can steer clear and use my time for other better things.
Yea indeed! Also its not easy for consumers to find you on AH and when they do they get lulled back over to the nonhandmade side
@@addictiveillusions5667 They get Chinese knockoffs thrown at them from every direction and a lower cost which is sad 😥
Thank you for this video! It was very informative:)
Hi, thank you for your video. Can you clarify about UPC code? How did you get UPC code for your vinyl products before you get in the handmade program?
Thank you for your work/info
Wow, thanks for this detailed info. It helped me a lot to conclude is it or is not for me. All the best from Germany!
But from the other hand she speaks for USA, I think in Germany things are better with Amazon, because is number one selling platform and Etsy not so familiar. I live also in Germany and I'm an artist and Etsy goes very bad, I had zero sales since January. Now I will try with Amazon to see what's going to happen. I just believe that here is different.
@@user-fj3pr2mb3x I never said did I decide for it or against it =) But I suppose the conclusion is clear. I just don't like Amazon's system. Even if the sales are better. Because I need to have a lot of items in inventory and there's 0 communication with the buyer. Which makes me wonder is it for creative people who do many samples of the same thing, or artists who do one of a kind pieces or personalized art. For me personally, Amazon's system is a big no-no...
I sculpt a lot of personalized items that take a long time to make, sometimes even a month. I need to know what's the client's idea and so on...
Etsy takes a lot of work and you only start seeing results after a certain period of time when you fall into the algorithm. Try checking a CZcams channel **Kara Buntin**, she has a lot of experience and great tips. She's not a "guru", just a very experienced seller.
Had my shop since 2015 but only started working on it in October/November last year. And got around 40 sales which is a lot for me, considering that my pieces take a long time to make. Personally, I have my own website where I sell (now it's paused) and this is my job 24/7, I live only from art. Quit my corporate job years ago.
I tried many different platforms, and I can say Amazon is not for me, even if the sales are better. Because of the nature of my work and the whole process. It just depends on the person and what they're making.
If you need help with Etsy, feel free to send me a private message or find me on facebook ( facebook.com/BCJdesign/ ), I will gladly share what I know.
@@Martina_BCJdesign yeah you right, I'm completely lost about all these platforms and sales. I start my business now and I'm trying to figure out everything but is hard. I will try also Amazon because every artwork is only one piece and maybe it's easier for me. Have no idea.. But if you have time enytime I would love to help me a bit with Etsy! Thanks a lot
Thank you for your comments. Hi from Mexico.
Brilliant review. Thankyou
Thank you so much for your help . Im liking and subscribing
Great video. We were in the process of adding items for the first time on amazon handmade. We are now considering etsy first lol.
Victor Poulin Thanks! Yes Etsy is DEFINITELY worth considering!
Etsy is shit don't waste your time
Etsy is the best platform.
appreciate your honest review
Thank you so much for this video it really helps give a good overview on selling on Amazon as a hand made seller. I sell hand made miniatures and was curious if this is a platform other then Etsy I should try out. I probably will only stick to Etsy for now it seems to preform pretty well for me.
I thinks its can be worth trying to see if it works for you - but Amazon is just a different beast than Etsy is!
I applied for the Homemade and in a day or two I was approved immediately. May depend on where your presence is listed on other social media sites. I also already had a seller account which I found restrictive due to products having to fit already existing accounts in the Amazon algorithm which I did not like.
I think your video was super perfect, because I was just about to start on handmaid, but I think you are right, starting on Etsy would be wise just to see how things go! Thank you so much.
I came here to say thing. Thank you so much for a great review! And I rarely comment on youtube. May your business be blessed.
Hi thanks for the great video. I'd like to know, can I sell on Amazon handmade from a different country IE: Malaysia?
Hi, thanks for the very honest review, this has now made me have doubts about whether to use this service, I sell personalised birthday t-shirts on eBay and Etsy and have done for over a year now, I was thinking to ramp my business up I would use Amazon handmade, as I take personalised options like child's name and age etc for printing on the t-shirts, do you think it's really not worth the headache?
Great video. Very informative. 😉
What if I want to turn off the return option on Amazon handmade? Is that possible?
By watching CZcams rs I believe a lot off people just order staff from amazon for review or party etc. needs and then return it as "deffective or not as decribed" items. I think thats a big issue.
I mean what is the system in amazon. You have to refund before You get item back and check that it is unused and undameaged or You just need to refund for first request without any proof ?
I m planning to sell my handmade products on amazon.but listing my product has become a nightmare. I think I m on the verge of giving up on it.the advertisement says its super easy. But its a real task in real. I m already fed up evn before my product is listed. Will look for other platforms. Ur review is so honest n informative.
How is it doing for you? I’m thinking about it as well
I really got some excellent information from your video, thank you.
Do you get enough sales in Amazon handmade wen compared to etsy or other platforms
Perfect intro to selling on amazon, thank you for that
On the other hand, if you do FBA, it is closer to a laptop lifestyle as well as many sellers become 6, 7, and even 8 figure sellers, which does not happen for most Etsy sellers.
Etsy sellers can do that too… you can hire a fulfillment center to ship orders that is basically all Amazon FBA is
Is there any made to order option in Amazon as it is in ETSY. Should we have a stock in hand? Thanks.
Great review.
Thanks for the honest review. I'm on Etsy and have been thinking about AH. One question, though. When packing your shipment, are you allowed to include a business card or any shop marketing materials? Thanks.
Diane Kitzerow yes I believe so. I personally do that on every shipment. I’ve gotten other orders from amazon myself that include that as well.
I am still learning to sell on Amazon. I make my own products - an all-natural, herb-based, organic Eczema Relief lotion. Can I list it under Handmade category, then do FBA?
Knowing how many platforms your business is on, how do you manage your inventory? I have a hand-made candle business currently on Shopify and Etsy, I have significant fewer candles on Etsy but I am also selling those candles on Shopify, but I am worried about inventory management.
My shop is a made-to-order shop so I don’t have to manage inventory. I’m sure there is something out there to help inventory across multiple platforms but I personally haven’t looked into it
Hey , my shop on Etsy is on holiday since I start. I keep asking why and no one talk to me from the support team. What should I do?
Good review particular conclusion of differences among Amazon vs others.
Spot on - well done you!
thank you for doing this
On Handmade, are you able to not only sell your products but also link to the vendors who's products you used to create that products and sell that too
Great info!!….. TY
Hi. I'm an ETSY seller. I wanted to expand my sales so I decided to apply to Amazon. They've just taken the 1st months subscription from my card in the last hour. I decided to check ot you tube before I used it and found this video. Now I'm thinking I've made a mistake. We make our own clothing and have a niche market but from what you're saying I've applied for the wrong thing. I didn't know about Hand made Amazon until I saw this video. Any advice please. Thank you.
Great video I had never heard about Amazon Handmade. What about packaging? Usually on Etsy you get nice packaging to get the small shop feeling. Is it the same for handmade Amazon?
Just depends on how each seller wants to package it
Good video! It sounds like you were using Amazon FBA. I am wondering if you shipped out the product yourself (FBM) if Amazon gets involved at all in the customer service or if they would then leave it mostly up to you - so that maybe there would be more communication then between you and the customer?
I do both. For FBA, Amazon takes care of the majority of the customer service in my behalf. For the FBM side, most messages come directly to me. Although there are ways for customers to take issues directly to Amazon and sometime they will mediate a solution that way, but it doesn't happen often.
Thank you for the video.
Thank you so much 💓
Hi, very honest and intuitive content. We sell handcrafted footwear on amazon. These are not made directly by me, but my team of artisans. Can you advise if this qualifies to be sold on Amazon handmade? Thank you
Hey, have You been lucky with Your business on amazon handmade? I sell handcrafted footwear aswell and was asking myself the same question. Tgank You :)
Awesome super informative video. I have a question for you. You said Amazon does not require a Professional Seller account to be eligible for Handmade. My application was approved but they informed me that I have to upgrade my account to Profesional and after the first month the monthly fees will be waived, which was a bit vague and contradicts what you said here. I'm a bit reluctant to upgrade to Professional, it's pretty expensive and I don't fully understand what this will mean for my business going forward. Can you or someone else please clarify this for me? Thanks so much in advance and great video. 🙏🏼
you probably already have found this out but for others - you have to sign up for a professional account - you will get charged but you can get it back if you are accepted onto hand made.
Question. At this point do you have an opinion about selling on Amazon handmade or Amazon their regular site? Art work is the niche. Thanks
It depends on the product and amount of sales you'll be making. If you have a simple product with little to no variations, then I would prefer the regular site. For products with many variations, it makes more sense to list on Handmade (easier to list and you don't need a bunch of UPCs to purchase and deal with). And if you're making a lot of sales, it may be worth going the regular route because your fees won't be as high as handmade.
Thanks so much for this video. Also, huge congrats on getting 20% review rate on Etsy. I'm also a seller on Etsy...I get great reviews on Etsy, but I'm sitting at 8%. Here's my question for you; can you share with me what percentage of business you do on Amazon vs Etsy? I've been on Etsy now for 7 months and sales are terrific and I love Etsy, However, I can't help but be tempted by Amazon. I'm just curious what to expect. Comparative to Etsy, Do you think your volume of sales on Amazon is 20% of what you do on Etsy or 80%? We strive for same-day or next-day shipping of items, so I've been focusing lately on ramping up our stock in preparation for Amazon. Thanks in advance!!
I am looking for a platform to sell my homemade items, but I am totally new. Can we chat and ask you for advice ?
I get more than 50% on Etsy. My shop name is "koenigbaer" if you want to check.
Ty for this
Some seller said Etsy will drain your bank account they charge a lot for listing products plus the competition there is huge
How long did it took you for the first sales start on amazon handmade?
I think I will start my handmade business first at Etsy, continue to sell on my eBay account, and then when I'm ready I'll upgrade my Individual Amazon account to Amazon handmade and use Shopify too. I have high hopes about making profit by not just putting all my eggs in one basket, but rather use different platforms. I wonder since i already have an individual Amazon account, if i can start out by selling my homemade stuff there and once i want to upgrade to the Amazon homemade, will that experience help me get approved easier by them since they will see that I'm already selling on their platform and I'm legit. Thank you for your feedback on Amazon handmade. Do you use FBA or FBM for your Amazon Business? I wonder if we can drop off our finished products to their warehouse so they can handle the orders and shipping since many people love the Prime option? That will probably be more costly for us right?
how many units to have wow
hiii do you still feel like this for someone just starting out?
Can you tell if it is good or bad please
which platform is the best to sell in from Africa.
do you need to include your own address on the shipping label when selling with amazon handmade?
I applied attached a link to my Etsy and my website and took photos of my office and packaging and was approved in 20 minutes
Thank you
You mentioned several other platforms but I didn't hear you mention FB marketplace. Do you sell on there and is it a positive platform?
I have not sold on Facebook marketplace
Good stuff.
do u pay monthly cost
hello i watched your video
realy great
i sell handmade on etsy
now i will start on amazon handmade
what you rwcommend me
Can I sell handmade as an individual seller, without a company????From Montenegro. Should I deliver the order to the customer's address???Please answer..Thanks
I uploaded a picture of myself with a table full of my product, they accepted me within an hour 🙏🏻 good luck! 🍀
Yes their process is sooo much easier and quicker than when I first applied!
Surprising about the reviews on Amazon. I've sold books and get better than 1%. Better engagement with Etsy?
Yes, I see way better engagement on Etsy
It clearly depends on the type of product. Are you making the books by hand?
but what did you sale? a course?
You are so amazing! Very informative video.
What are the fees?????
To update, Amazon Handmade now DOES require the professional seller account, thus requires $39.99/month + Seller Fees
Can you elaborate more ?
What if you get rejected more than once?😢
I don't think it's that hard to get approved, I applied and got accepted the next morning! I don't even have my complete product (the labels were incomplete, the products were not finalized...)
It’s way easier than when I did it when handmade first came out and I applied!!
@@athomepixels It probably is! They are improving. Did you do prelaunch marketing? I heard launching with high Volume and sales is important.
@@athomepixels they sent me a link last year and I was not ready now I entered in the link and it does not work
Best comment ever :
Good user experience as buyer
but not as a seller
Many thanks
So true….
My experience as a consumer on Amazon is that the "not as described" radio button is the default when none of the other reasons -- which are much harsher -- don't apply. For that reason, when a seller has reached out seeking further clarification, it feels defensive on their part and creepy.
Thanks for this video just cut through the chase I'm producing my own products handmade and I will stay away from Amazon CZcams only
i think now you have to pay 39.99 to get on AH
Janis L. Amazon Handmade is free to use and list products. You only pay a 15% referral fee when you sell a product. The non-handmade professional account on amazon is $39.99 monthly.
I need to hurrying
some ppl.make millions damn
Hi. Just saw your video today an noticed your neck looks swollen on the right side. Do you have thyroid issues? Maybe have that looked at.
Thanks. I do and I’m in the process of getting it taken care of
Oh good, I was a little worried. This is the first of your videos I’ve seen. I apologize if this was mentioned to you before. I’m glad you are in treatment. Take care and stay safe,
I appreciate that! 😊❤️
hi
Ha, funny... i was easily accepted without having to disclaim so much... 🤔
Same. And I never used it. Just recently decided to try it out and I had to resubmit everything... I was accepted again within 24 hours. No issues whatsoever.
Without trying to pry too much what percent of your overall sales do you see coming from Amazon Handmade... ...and do you see any growth with Amazon Handmade?
Thanks!
J. D. Parden maybe 15% of my overall sales online. It is growing, yes.
Well, Made by Hand means really - you make something with your hands... not that you click a button and pull something off the printer
People who buy on amazon they have no clue how handmade items business work and how much time it required to personalize the item. I never sell on amazon.
I was approved to sell on Amazon Handmade but then got kicked off because a keychain wasn’t up to there standard. I disagreed with the decision and was banned.
