  • This video is about making your own IOT Energy monitoring device that can sense both voltage and current values in realtime and eventually you can calculate the power consumed by your appliances using that.
    Here I have shown the demo by sending the data to Arduino IOT Cloud. Watch this video to learn something new.

    DigiKey is good but not made for India Guys. I bought a ESP32 & a 5V linear voltage regulator from them, the landing price including shipping, customs & other expenses was more than 5K. And the same thing is available in our local Market which costs less than 0.5K 😢😢

    I feel using Peacefair PZEM-004T 100A module for ac power measurement is good solution because it is more accurate, pre calibrated and this single module can measure powerfactor, Frequency, true rms currents,voltages and easy to interface with esp or any other by using UART communication

    measurement of power factor and multiplying all three together i.e. current, voltage and power factor will only give the correct result. Power factor varies depending on load. For resistive it will be near unity while for reactive it will be less than unity

    I have used the voltage sensor module before. It was difficult to calibrate and the voltage rating was not so accurate.
    I think before connecting the voltage sensor directly to the supply, its need a calibration.

    • @techiesms
      @techiesms  Před 5 měsíci

      Yes, we need to calibrate both Voltage and Current Sensor initially to get the exact values

    U know in case of ac there is a power factor. Which is to be multiplied with v and i . So how can u say that is true power. I basically measure the apparent power which in nothing but multiplication of v and i🙏 hope u understand

      You can uses pzem-004t Energy meter modlule with esp8266 like I did with esphome. you can connect multiple pzem-004t module with one microcontroller this will be useful if you waana create 3 phase energy meter. pzem-004t will give these parameters(Voltage, Current, Power, Energy, Frequency, PowerFactor).

    You are not measuring the energy its power measurement. So the title is wrong.
    Energy = Power × time.
    Power = V×I (in case of D.C.)
    Power = V×I×pf.(in case of AC).
    And in case of AC you canot just get the power rating by multiplying V×I. You also have to take the power factor in acoount.
    Though this sensors are pretty much not good. No accurate readings.
    Besides this you did not show the calibration process of the sensos which is very vital aspect in this project. Otherwise taking any data and sending to cloud is already shown to your previous videos.
    From my end I would like to see such project where IoT is included but you also focus on other stuffs of that project video.
    There is more topics like IIoT, various communication like lora, zigbee. Make more detailed videos about that test the range of those devices and show us.
    Thank you. These all are my sugestions.

    Are u selling this product ?? Smd soldering is out of my league

    • @arvind50
      @arvind50 Před 5 měsíci

      Its not very difficult. You can hack a standard oven (6k) and order stencils (1k) per stencil and solder any smd part. I have been doing this for over a decade now. Worth trying. A lot of DIYs are there showing how to convert a standard convection oven to do smd. If the board is small, you can use a simple iron box too. Turn the iron box and use it as a hot plate.

    You’ll always get inaccurate results unless you also measure power factor, so actually your results are nonsense for the vast majority of loads.

    Since both current and voltage instantaneous signals were immediately converted to average DC, there's no way you can measure the power factor and true RMS, and harmonics. This is only good for linear and resistive loads.
