I agree. I'm happy to watch him play this game regardless, and he clearly enjoys it, but it has been a bit frustrating to see his strategy remain pretty stagnant over the last few videos.

Pill+deer is objectively wrong for 3 reasons.
1) The deer body is useful. Why have a bus when you can have a bus and a free deer. The deer body works with whale, absorbs dolphin hits, removes melon armor, etc.
2) Bus cannot be leveled up reasonably
3) If the plan is to invest and create a big unit with splash attack in the late game: just buy a chili pepper late game. If you plan to heavily invest in the bus's stats, invest in literally any other unit and buy the pepper later.
If someone does well with pilling a deer, they are doing well in spite of that decision, not because of it.
The only pro-bus argument is that you can feed it directly, but for 6 gold you get +5/+5 (by leveling up the deer): two pears gets you less stats for the same price (+1 gold if we consider the pill as well). I guess you can give the bus melon or garlic? But that's a worse investment than what you described, the late game chili.
another pro-bus is units like rhino or hippo that counter any summon squad, but again at that point you're better off investing in something besides the bus strat
@@gabrielfrear7412 against rhino having the deer or pilling the deer is effectively identical, either the whining price it’s ability kills the 1/1 and hits the bus or it just hits the bus, actually if the first unit is a deer and it dies to rhino the bus survives and gets the splash, that’s not the case if you pill the deer
You might as well add steak to the deer so it has a good chance at wiping out the first thing it hits then hitting even further back into the other side.
The reason people say to pill the deer is because he's running a dog and isn't going to keep the deer long term. If you pill an animal with a summon your dog gets buffed and you get the gold back for the pill.
Why am I so addicted to this series?
Because it's a simple autobattler that's easy to follow and understand, as well as absurd enough that NL can say shit like "I forgot the deer summons a 5/5 bus".

Getting the win now lowers the odds of you not making it to 10 later, at the same time it doesn't prevent you from still being able to win later on. You'd still be up against people with the same amount of rounds as you so it wouldn't give you any advantage, sure you can scale, but your opponent will too.

NL, you should really try out the t rex sometime. You had the opportunity to sell your cow and buy the T rex with 3 gold remaining. usually late game you spend your last 3 gold rerolling and freezing, t rex allows you to instead buff your entire team.

One unit that I've been picking up quite a bit recently and seen relative success with despite never seeing it on other peoples teams is the Swan. Is anyone else getting something like this? I feel like if you can get 2 or 3 extra gold every turn you can steamroll so much easier than normal, and I find it bizarre that I almost never see swans

Draw is actually better than a win for me. To me, a draw is an extra turn to build my team. The most disappointed I've been in this game is getting a really good team rocking and then getting told I have to quit because it got too good.
