    Good to see you back.
    Doing one of my all time favorite bands!

  • @universeconsciouscitizensc592

    The Moody Blues were so unique! Spiritual, intellectual, simple, complex, and part of the soundtrack of the mystical journey of my life. I heard TOAD on the radio on it's release when I was 14, but had heard Nights in White Satin before. Every culture seems to excel in some aspect of music, and the genius of the Brits/Celts is melody, of which TMB, especially Justin Hayward, is an example.

    Finally!!!! A reaction the way it should be done. Moodys, Pink Floyd, Genesis and many other groups of the 60's, 70's and 80's produced the best of rock. I'm sure I missed other names, like It's A Beautiful Day, and Emerson, Lake and Palmer and many others. I'm 73 and have been there since day 1, Totally loved the simple not overstated reaction. Less is more sometimes and you proved that to be true. Great Job!!!

    I remember that every new Moody Blues album release was a highly anticipated event back then. From the album art to the music. It was almost a religion. My friends and I would trip on the best LSD we could find (which back then was very good), light a candle, and lay back. The heavens would pour out of the speakers. We were always amazed that they "knew" what we were going through at the time. They were singing to us.

    This is my favorite Moody Blues album and has been from the time it came out. When I first got it and listened with the headphones in the dark I got such chills. The whole album kept going up and up. This It's also in my top 5 just behind Dark Side of the Moon. It is so easy to listen to. I don't even take the CD out of the cartridge anymore. Great listening with you and hearing your thoughts!

    Five writers and four singers. Always unique, creative, melodic and entertaining. The poetry at the beginning (and the end in some cases) was written by percussionist Graeme Edge who passed in 2021. The flute was played by multi-instrumentalist Ray Thomas (RIP 2018). Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull was a fan.

    • @dougreed2257

    This album is sublime! The Moodies are my favorite band. This album is my second all-time favorite album by ANYONE, ever so slightly behind my #1 album, which is also a Moody Blues album, that being DAYS OF FUTURE PASSED. Their music is magical, and takes me to a special place no one else can.

      Sounds great without "help" having a clear mind is even better to appreciate the music, despite contrary belief😊

    • @glenndespres5317
      @glenndespres5317 Před rokem

      @@dougreed2257 Perhaps. Or perhaps you would have a different understanding of what a ‘clear mind’ really is if viewed from expanded consciousness. Aldous Huxley quote: “Huxley was keen to repeat the LSD experience and did so two months later with Gerald Heard and Al Hubbard. They listened to music, something millions of recreational LSD users have since found to be a source of amazement. Huxley found Bach's B-minor suite to be "a revelation". He was so impressed he later wrote to [Humphry] Osmond: "Meanwhile, let me advise you, if you ever use mescaline or LSD in therapy, to try the effect of the B-minor suite. More than anything, I believe, it will serve to lead the patient's mind (wordlessly, without any suggestion or covert bullying by doctor or parson) to the central, primordial Fact, the understanding of which is perfect health during the time of the experience, and the memory of the understanding of which may serve as an antidote to mental sickness in the future". Sure the music may sound ‘great’ without ‘help’. But it can be an amazing experience beyond just ‘sound’.

    The poetry is in a lot of their works. Professional music critics may have been somewhat split on it, some liking it and others deciding it was bad.

    John Lodge, Justin Hayward, and Ray Thomas will trade lead vocals on albums. This is such a great Moodies album. It is a loose concept album. They released two albums that year, TOAD and To Our Children's Children's Children. You should review that one next.
