Speaking from past experience on reality TV, can guarantee he didn't have to spend a dime of his own money. It's all part of the show's budget, but he still has to act upset or it's boring.
On Judge Judy each litigant gets a 5 grand appearance fee. They either make more or less.

It's easier for cards or coins because most people you're suckering will see the dollar signs on that rather than the rattle; especially with all that pearl on it. The only customer in this whole video that I feel was being truthful and honestly was not part of any scam was the gentleman at the end of the video. He spent a couple hundred dollars out of his own pocket to have it tested through the pawn shop tells me he was serious on thinking it was real. I feel bad for him , I do and being his age, someone scamming the elderly is not cool.
