  • Fleetwood Mack is "done." According to Mick Fleetwood, the British-American rock band is over since Christine McVie passed away. The 75-year-old drummer spoke with Access Hollywood on the red carpet at the 2023 Grammy Awards and he revealed that his band has been "put to bed" after the band’s keyboardist and songwriter died suddenly in November at 79. Mick says it's "unthinkable" to keep the band together without Christine, but he has not spoken to his bandmates about this.

??? they went on without her before. and without Lindsey more recently.
I think you just need Mick and one other former member (stevie, john or lindsey) and you can fill a tour. Get some studio musicians and you can make an album. She was a great singer , but you have a world of great singers. Lindsey was a one of a kind guitarist, and yet they soldiered on after they fired him.
this was not the first lineup of the band, so it may well not be the last.

Well, without Christine and Lindsey, FM would be the Stevie Nicks Band. And while the quality of her shows would benefit enormously from that, it wouldn't be Fleetwood Mac at all. So it's onyl logical for FM to end. And fitting, because Christine is the bandmember the others owe the most, she stabilized the band and reliably wrote the hits, the good songs on each album since she'd joined. Fom 1990 on, I saw FM every time they came to europe and I'll sherish the memories forever. The 2015 concert, when the whole venue welcomed Christine back with a roaring applause and, to her visible wonder and joy, continued to celebrate her throughout the night, will always be my favorite memory of any concert I've been to. So have I. Christine was our Musical Mother and Earth Angel. She was family. I have loved her for over 40 years and now almost 53 years old.
I'm absolutely heartbroken that she's gone.
      😢💔

She was an amazing talent with an amazing voice but few remember, she left the band at one point and essentially retired. She didn’t want to travel anymore. She only returned for the last 2 or 3 tours. The problem going forward is, Stevie doesn’t want to tour with Lindsay Buckingham. There is no F.M. without Lindsay and Christine. You can tour without one, and they have, but you can’t continue without either.

Heartbreaking to hear the band is put to bed. Understandably, but heart wrenchingly understandable. For Bless Nick for recognizing her importance to the band. 💔

Before joining forces with Buckingham/Nicks, Christine pretty much was the "Mama Lion" who kept Fleetwood Mac going. They soldiered on, playing with other musicians(that's Mick And John McVie playing muscular rhythm behind Warren Zevon on "Werewolves of London," which required more than 30 takes to get right) and even surviving another manager using their name to have another group of musicians play shows - charging money - as "Fleetwood Mac!" She was able to welcome Stevie Nicks eagerly("Oh, good, another girl singer!"), so that the whole group was like a family by the end of their first day together.
When they did the tour for their first album together, they traveled in a couple of station-wagons, and Christine made sure that their contract "riders" included good wine and lots of food - bread, fruit, olives and grapes, which would end up in coolers, in the cars, to eat and drink on the way to the next show! The whole band is a bunch of veteran musical road-warriors, and Christine was able to keep working right up to the end of her life. She knew how fortunate she was, and was truly grateful and always gracious; a class act for all to admire. God Bless 'em all.

It was hardly a case of "survival" because of some fake band doing some gigs for a few weeks to cover for them following their upset with the Bob Weston affair. Strange that you don't consider Bob Welch as the "Lion King" as he wrote by far the best songs on all five albums he made with them.

Time to call it a day. They had a great run but they struggled somewhat on their last tour. John has been in poor health for years. Let Stevie and Lindsey enjoy their solo careers, but the band's days are over. All good things end.

Too bad they didn't cherish Lindsey Buckingham
equally. Really, they ended the band when they "got rid of"
him. Kinda ironic. They thought they could do without him now without her it's REALLY over 🤔. All due respect to Christine, she was very talented & beautiful & seemed like a nice person. They just had alot of drama among them over the time they were "Fleetwood Mac"

Truly the passing of the greatest era in rock. For a band that persevered through many ups and downs, it’s fitting that they go out at the pinnacle. As a fan since the 1970s, I express my condolences to the band, their families, friends and fans, who mourn Christine’s passing.

I'm surprised no one has brought up the song that Christine McVie wrote specifically for Mick Fleetwood. The song being Oh Daddy. She really loved Mick and she wrote that song just for him.

Not in today's world that's smothered to death in political correctness. That song title has all the wrong connotations that the angry extreme-left woke brigade hate. First off, it's probably "racist" to have a "daddy", etc, etc. Get my drift?
