    @Jonathan Pageau God bless you! I want to tell you something what I did in my life and how it has brought one of the most positive influences in my life. I deleted all of my social media except CZcams about 4 years ago. Social media has become an idol in my generation. I do like some things but overall, my generation is negative. I’ve actually been told that I’m an old soul ‘cause I do a lot of things from the past. We need more old souls in our generation so that we can influence everyone and help understand who Christ is to us.

    The part about strict but caring teachers is so true. There was one teacher in our highschool who everyone loved. She would give more homework than most, but check and explain it all carefully. She'd make jokes, and bake brownies every year, for each of her classes.

    I've definitely had the strict but involved teacher. He didn't have to be all that authoritative with most of us, because he commanded respect by default. Another teacher really subverted that expectation though. She also commanded respect, but by virtue of just being a sweetheart. She had a rough first year because she was a softie, but people loved her so much that if you were rude or didn't listen to her, you'd be sure to get it from the class. Probably only worked cause it was such a small school.

    I think in the case of women/men it's a little different. By no means do I remotely buy into the "women were completely oppressed and all men are oppressors" narrative, but I do believe that men have significant physical strength over and above women, and therefore could possibly have sustainably used brute force to keep women feeling threatened and therefore unable to leave when necessary for the power checks and balances. I'm not saying they did, but it's different in comparison to the army example, where (barring other technology/brute force) men could leave without feeling physically vulnerable or frightened.

      Cruel part of the joke is the people who actually get to the top, get the resources to be "free," and then realize it doesn't help. Because that's the "American dream," work hard! You can play the game right and get rewarded with all the money/fame/whatever that you want! Be your own boss! Then just end up slaves anyway. To the systems that keep them in power, to their passions they fund with it. No escaping

    Not sure on the validity of the claim but I've heard it said that the way the allied militaries allowed more flexibility and lower level leadership to make decisions on the fly was a strategic advantage over the German and Italian armies who were so authority focused that everyone was afraid to think for themselves and react to the changing environment due to their extreme fear of harsh punishment from an overcontrolling authority. While it definitely is and has to be stricter than most cases of authority, it seems like you can still have cases of overcontrolling authority in the military. Subsidiarity is still needed.

    Authority and power are synonyms of responsibility.
    If you don’t use your power the right way (keep others safe, guiding the young, aiming your community at the good), then, all of it breaks down and no one will follow your lead.
    This guy is still stuck in the idea that authority has to be, by definition, oppressive.
    But a leader is always elected, even royalty.
    People step aside to watch where you go.
    And if you go somewhere good, they will emulate.
    Like Gabor Mate says “if you want your children to have discipline, make them your disciples.”
    And that’s what it is for every authority that isn’t an asshole.

    The two play into one another. When the organic structure of society breas down, it opens up a space for the king. How should i put this. every society and tribe alwys had traditional law. Kings normally were quite bound by this. The modern age has been one of the using technology to give power to kings and break down traditional law. Magic and technology both have the same function, to give power to the few. and while the power of traditional law relies on ritual, the power of the state relies on technology and technology doesnt care who you are or what you believe. It does cost a lot of money though

    Men do not have authority over other men; it is only illusory authority. The only reason people obey man’s “authority” is because of threats of violence. Do you really pull over because you respect the police or do you pull over because they can shoot and kill you? Do you pay your taxes because you love funding central banks and the military industrial complex or do you pay your taxes because if you don’t, you will be jailed? The only authority we have is over ourselves.
    In this realm, the only authority over us is The Creator and his laws. If we were to submit to God’s Natural and Divine Laws, we would understand that man’s laws are superfluous. Freedom must come with responsibility and man’s problem has always been that we refuse these responsibilities and to submit to God’s laws. Thus, we create our world and laws in OUR image and not in God’s image. We have seen the results of this throughout history.

    • @LKRaider
      @LKRaider Před 2 lety +1

      The authority can be rooted in love. A functional family obeys the father because they love them and understand they act in the best interests of the family.

    • @CVsnaredevil
      @CVsnaredevil Před 2 lety +3

      @@LKRaider No, not really. My parents tried to boss me around plenty when I was a young man and I didn’t listen to them. I respect and honor them because they were good parents in many ways. I always heed their council. But they have no authority over me. For example, my Mother tried to get me to dump my long time girlfriend because she thought I could do better. I laughed in her face and have now been VERY happily married for 8 years now; we dated for 12 years before that.
      God does not give us children to be tyrants and authorities over them. Parents are guides and stewards. No wonder there is so much dysfunction in families; even parents cannot ultimately impose their will on children. Try it and see what happens. I’ve seen it backfire plenty.
