    In this San Diego golf lesson Porzak Golf helps college golfer Kelvin on how to hit full wedge shots. How to hit solid wedge shots has to do with pre setting impact and then swinging around fixed points. Wedge shot set up needs to be in the proper position so all you have to do is rotate. Having the proper wedge shot setup also helps you to hit wedges lower if you need to as well. Golf wedges explained here will help you understand the proper wedge swing and why it is different. Learn how to hit full wedge shots and and wedge shots 50-75 yards, it's the same concept just a bigger swing.

    I played 18 today and my short game was absolutely awful. I felt completely lost and I couldn't put my finger on it but you've just highlighted exactly what my problem was. Entirely too much arm swing. So glad I came across your Channel specifically this content. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! 🔥 🔥 🔥

    This is pure gold…….so good. I was consistently chunking my wedges and this (and your comments about not letting the body move “backward” on wedge shots )has changed my wedge play so much. Loved the analysis of 7 iron swing vs wedge. Team ( video followers ): subscribe and get Porzak Golf over 100,000…….you won’t regret it!

    Watch your wedge videos over & over. Relates to all of my clubs. Game has improved greatly. My weekly coaching blends into your videos. Coach reinforces your technique. He really likes my hip bump to start. It’s funny because he says to play my driver like my wedge. Hard to figure at first but it works. I line up the driver head middle of my stance and hit the ball 4” left or near my left heel. Amazing results! I still make errors but I make pure hits way more now!

    At 4:49 he says that “on shorter shots people outswing themselves.” This is so true for me, I tend to get too lengthy in my backswing on shorter shots and it’s ruined my 30-40 yard shots. Great video!

    Last week I played with one of the best senior amateurs in the country. The guy is 69 and just stripes it. What you were showing on this video is EXACTLY how he hit his wedges. He got somewhat stacked on this left side, took it back WAY shorter than me and then hit these beautiful almost little draw wedges. It was sooooo impressive.

    Even when I hit these type of wedge shots bad they still work out good just lower. I love the sawn off type finish feel & using it on a 9 iron gives me a lot of confidence

    Awesome video, very helpfull i love the wedge series on this channel. Gabe am i understanding this right, Adam is saying although the swing and club are only going lets say 3/4 thats what he feels is the full swing needed with the wedge swing, and in reality to swing a wedge full like a 7 iron is not needed?

    Another great video and topic! I notice alot of good players hit all of their irons with shortish backswing and abbreviated finish. It does seem like a solid way to play.

    • @PorzakGolf
      @PorzakGolf  Před 2 lety +5

      It gets more important the shorter the club gets too, don't need as much hands, arms, power and speed with the wedges. It's about consistent loft at impact and consistent speed for consistent distance control!

    Finally someone shows the way to hit low control wedges thanks

  • @pkt976
    @pkt976 Před 7 měsíci

    Great explanation. Hit a high ball. Carry my 46 degree PW 130. My 50 gap wedge i max at 110 and the gapping gets worse with the higher lofted wedges. Struggled for years to "fire" my wedges on that piercing trajectory. Always thought i was flipping. (which i might be a bit) I'd get my weight on my front foot, shaft lean, middle/back of stance, and still hit a high ball that wouldn't go the expected distance. Weight forward, 1/2-3/4 swing, dead hands, torso swing. See how it goes. Thanks

  • @babaffos
    @babaffos Před 2 lety +3

    The feeling for me is a high back swing to a low follow through. Makes it really easy to dial in the exact flight I want. The more exaggerated the feeling, the lower it goes.

    Adam would you say every club in a bag you have your body turn with the club I'm sure with the driver woods and maybe five iron your arm swing would be a little longer but anything less than a five or six iron be more of a body rotation swing?

    I try to keep my left shoulder higher than my right in my downswing to keep me from coming over the top. But when I do this I struggle to keep my posture hence causing toe and heel shots. Do you have a video on this?

    • @PorzakGolf

    is the general difference in pitching and chipping how far you take the club back?

    • @PorzakGolf
      @PorzakGolf  Před rokem

      Kind of, probably best differentiated by the length and characteristic of shot, chip generally shorter, on the green longer.
