  • A short CoH2 video explaining why it isn't always a good idea to just blindly build the most expensive and impressive tank. Enjoy!

    Hey all, this video is for the average CoH2 player. It is intended to demonstrate why just getting the biggest and most expensive tank isn’t always the best idea.
    The fog of war is off to show the power of allied TDs when they have their vision. Yes spearhead mode grants more range but most players never use it in my experience and even if they did proper flanking attacks would still cripple a Tiger. Even with the blitzkrieg ability, most axis 4v4 players don’t use it correctly.

    I prefer to hold out and wait for a Tiger/Tiger II/Elefant/Jagdtiger when I have enough AT units, either cannons or AT teams like the Panzergrenadiers. They can offer a great stop at roaming tanks, and are also really useful to deal with tank destroyers.
    All those heavies are bad without support but having some infantry moving forward and using recon can make it so much more intimidating. It's basically psychological warfare, with the mere presence of a Tiger causing the entire allied strategy to focus on dealing with that tank, instead of dealing with more dangerous opponents such as elite infantry and hidden MG/cannons

    I think building Tiger, King Tiger is more situational than necessity. Depending on the map and the enemies tactics these heavy tanks would perform differently. Against mobile anti tanks such as SU 85, Firefly, Jacksons the Tigers would get outmatched because those things were designed to counter German heavy armor, so if the enemy is going heavy on anti tank doctrines getting a Tiger/KT is a bad idea. However, the Tiger has much more HE filler in its shots compared to Stug's or Panthers which are although excellent against enemy armors performs badly against infantries. If the enemy is spamming things like T 34's or Sherman's(not firefly) the Tiger can outperform them. Against things like M26 or IS 2 the Tiger would be somewhat evenly matched. Thanks to its hit radius it can also counter infantries reliably well. So it all depends on how the match is going and being able to analyze the situation is going to be the deciding factor on which side wins the battle.

Besides, it's very important that you have a panther or p4 or puma to hunt artillery. If you already have a panther getting a jadgpanzer or a second panther is much better as there will still be popcap left for infantry unlike the tiger and panther option.

Signal flares from Special operations and Jagdtiger a good mix in team games, me and my friend did it in 2v2 vs allies who were making fireflies before we had fuel for panzer 4's. When you build heavy tank destroyers suddenly the allies chase you, and if you can dodge the Close air support, You should be good.

    Unlike all of those 4 tanks, they don’t do shit to infantry while tigers do. And the ISU takes too much to repair and reload. Thing is the tiger has a very powerful move called MOVING. And some the Russian TDs don’t have a turret, Firefly has no armor and so is Jackson. Both Tiger and KT will defeat any of those tanks in a 1v1 engagement. And usually tigers don’t just go in solo without support.

    1.) turn off fog of war (no vision for allies) and a allied TD cannot achieve this
    2.) king tiger or tiger with spear head sees farther than any tank destroyer from allies except for su85
    3.) no one pushes with a heavy tank in top 300 without support from infantry, raketens or support from your first tank which should be a jagdpanzer in 4vs4.
    4.) who makes a KT without heat shells commander? the whole point is 2 shots + 1 faust or extra damage (enemy tanks dont always have 100% hp anyway) = Dead + spearhead on KT lets you close the distance to a tank destroyer before the ally player has time to notice and react. Add hold fire for accurate 1rst heat shell and 1 more shot + point #3 and you have a dead TD.
    5.) You did this test but didn't even turn on blitzkrieg mode on the tiger to close the gap meanwhile at the same time you disabled the fog of war so the tank destroyer had a huge advantage.
    6.) also the entire point of the KT or Tiger when the enemies are spamming TD's is to give you vision with spearhead so your teamates jagdtiger, stug and jagdpanzer can get shots off and not risk getting 1 shot to multiple tank destroyers
    The general advice is decent for a below average super-noob CoH player but the over-arching message of "don't build a Tiger" simply does not apply to people above a certain level of play, every tank in the game is situational and they all have their time to shine and utility to provide.

Also the firefly commander i think has vision range 45 which is less than tiger spear head vision. A KT with spearhead active should be able to walk right upto a firefly with commander and at least trade 1 shot for 1 shot. Firefly is my favourite ally tank btw, tulip rockets stun, penetration damage, and penetration level makes it an outstanding TD for the allies that demands caution from the axis player. An effective stun with support from 1 more TD can mean the death of a heavy and almost certainly the death of an axis medium tank like the panther.

      @yannisdaboss Před 3 lety

      @@gringokillah9543 axis heavys are there to do 1 thing. Buy you time especially in 4vs4. They soak up a few shots and trade a few while your other tanks can close gaps and make kills. Axis generally have less tanks but better tanks. Allies generally have worse tanks (overall with all things included: mobility armor, pen, damage on pen) but more of them. Ally tanks are more prone to traffic jams and require more micro. This is the fine space where axis players in these engagements if you envision them have time to pick off ally tanks. If your KT lands a heat shell on an ally TD its at like 55% remaining and your heavy tank has soaked damage giving you a window of opportunity to finish off that ally tank destroyer with your panthers and jadgpanzer

The tiger has effectively done its job even still regardless of not hitting anything, its provided your infantry cover to advance into positions where you were incapable of before. You can just as easily pull your tiger back at 50% health and repair, then rinse and repeat. You either gain kills or you gain ground, either way you gain advantage. Amazing, your tactical understanding of the advantage of pushing back enemy tds is subpar, a tiger pushing a firefly back across open terrain will almost always draw infantry with it as the allied player attempts to destroy the tiger, giving the axis time to capture land and set up mgs and infantry based at guns. Once set up the tiger can retreat, even if it dosent make it the mission is a success and the resource cost negligible if the command points are taken. The tigers and especially King tigers durability allows them to function in this role as sponges.

    • @Evangeline.F
      @Evangeline.F Před 3 lety +1

      @@AjenLarod Depends on the situation. JT, JP4 and Panther are all ok for use offensively against TDs, last needs to be able to flank though and not be kited to death. Something like Pfus with Schrecks can work, though if you blob you invite Katyusha or Calliope. Similar thing with some Raketenwerfer. TDs have no anti-infantry. Against AT guns, Stuka zu Fuß or artillery call-in are good. Generally, if possible, any non-frontal assault helps and one thing that I at times used when facing AT gun wall is multiple Panther + Flame Hetzer, as the Panther draws some fire, withdraws when it gets low and Hetzer meanwhile runs up burning the AT gun. If the enemy doesn't focus the Hetzer manually but leaves the guns aggroed on the Panther, the Hetzer can decrew an AT gun within mere seconds, especially if it gets vet. Worth noting thus that Breakthrough is a great commander and JT is typically worth it over KT. Also brings Assault Artillery that is just incredibly good for attacks, as it not just makes AT guns move or die, but also takes away vision, negating some range advantages. Feuersturm is just allround a very good commander, also early on to kick the opponent off the important points before they dig in there. One unit that I also can recommend for OKW is the IR halftrack, as it is cheap as hell and if put next to your own TDs, they can see up to their max range. Helps see what you push into (next patch it'll get a recon plane too) and it especially helps get the first shots in a TD battle.
