I’d definitely say that 700 bottoms out hard. I felt it through the screen lol. As a fellow mx racer try to keep smooth throttle all the way up the face of the jumps. When you keep blipping the throttle on the take of you’re making front end land high. I’m with you on the 400ex over them all be safe man.

I tried to mx my banshee back in 2004. It was terribly unpredictable on the track. I ended up selling it and getting a yfz450… I can’t pretend that the YFZ handling wasnt superior and the power plant was equally impressive. It was the right move for the track. With that said, I LOVED the banshee just about anywhere other than the track… idk it’s a tough call on which I would own for recreational riding if I could do it again. The reliability argument goes out the window when you consider the rebuild requirements of those nearly skirt-less piston modern 4 strokes…. The argument may now lean toward the two stroke being the easier unit to maintain
Also looks like you need your shocks redone. Jogaca, Rocket Ron, etc. - those guys can get you dialed in, especially with those really nice shocks Yamaha provides
Good ol badlands.. I remember those hills were wayyyyyy taller (Not on the track, track wasn't there back then) Badlands is fun with a banshee.. the craptor is perfect for the track tho
I'm more of a Warrior,Banshee/ 250R,400EX, kinda guy, I remember when the Raptor came out, that and Bombardie DS 650. I was excited to ride one but when I did, it was a lil underwhelming unless maybe on dunes, it had gobs of power but it was a really unbalanced ride for me. It felt really.....clumsy, it was wide, heavy, and just a bigger quad all around. To me, the Warrior and 400EX was just more rideable, with the 2 strokes you had to keep em pretty tight in RPM, the Banshees wouldn't hesitate to overheat in woods or low RPM on summer day's. Im a lil older now, I like my Eiger, but I'd like to have another 400EX or Warrior (Retreat is nice to have)
This really shows how much better the 450 is in track or track like conditions, especially with a stock Raptor. I'm still happier w my 700 though cause I lug around a bit.
@@Davido50 you can save you're 1k buy having your stocks revalved and resprung. I did this with my 2020 yfz450r. Six12 Racetech in Florida does a kickass job. I was sending it over 70ft triples without a sweat once I had my shocks reworked. The factory KYB shocks have a ton of adjustability. They're excellent shocks, but just need to be reworked.
Gooooo way up on that compression clicker! Then invest in better front shocks. Would make that 700R just about perfect. Love my '21 Raptor 700R-SE. - Ohio
Hey Brewer Offraod I have a slight question, I have a 2015 yfz 450r with a gytr exhaust, on a vortex ecu, with a k&n filter (not running air box rid and spark arrestor) but i this has the AIS system and wonder if I should delete it and through a block-off plate or not. But thank you for your time
There is nothing like messing around on the quads with the homies but I definitely prefer my dirt bike for when it comes to the track🤷🏻♂️ I’ve always landed funny on quads an end up tweaking my self
I have an 02 660 with a 450 footprint (+2 a arms, +2 rear axle, Jogaca suspension) and its made a world of difference, I'll say more MX capable it's more nimble and less top heavy but Im still not 100% confident MX-ing it. Raptors are heavy....50lbs heavier than the 450.
Looks fun! If you have an opportunity, you’d definitely benefit a lot from a class with a pro rider. You’ve got the mentality to ride an MX track, just need a little adjustment in body prostitution and you’ll be rippin! The classes are usually not too expensive especially with the amount of knowledge you take home after.
Couldn’t agree more. Quads allow you to ride lazy. But if he went to a dirt bike it would force the technique. Once you figure it out the mx experience will be more fun no matter what quad your on.
Ill choose a 450 over a 700 any day of the week the bike fits my riding style so much better personally but i can wheelie that 700 so much better 😂😂 your channel got me and my pops battling out the quads to see which is truly better
Yeah, i went from a 400ex, traded it and some cash to a friend for a 700 raptor, HATED that bike. I could just never get the comfort level i wanted riding it, sort of felt like riding a harley in comparison to a ninja or something, just didnt feel "fun", and it felt tall as shit. So, i traded that raptor for a 450r and ended up buying another 400ex and ride the 450 and 400ex about the same, but the 400ex is my go to if i really want to go rip hard.

i have a yfz450 of my own and let me tell u out of all the quads i’ve rode its fs the best all around no matter what u wanna do race track, hairscramble, just ride trails, make it a street quad it’s got the power and mobility for it all

Honestly between the Raptor and YFZ the Raptor is better for general usage. It has alot of torque and that makes it easy to ride at casual paces. But it can get after it with the 450s too.
I think most cost effective full size atv is a 400ex you can find a fair condition 400ex between $2000-3000 and it will last a long time with minor maintenance. However financing a new machine is relatively cheap as well. $1500 down can land you paying $250/month for a brand new machine that can last a really long time!

Dude I rode the badlands track with my 660 raptor earlier this year, and those jump faces are absolutely dangerous for quads. They will kick you sideways without question. I didn't feel comfortable hitting any of them except the tiny shallow tabletop at the front. Maybe the new track will have better faces
Idk maybe I'm out of line here but it didn't seem like it handled that bad on the track even for stock? And unless you're actually in a race, not sure how relevant it is. I'm about to buy a raptor or 450 and stuck. I know the 450 is the top dog. But it seems like the raptor is more fun to ride

Although I had a raptor first at 12 or 13ys old lol dad told me to never go into 4th or 5th obviously didn't listen. I developed better skills on the 450 but I missed the speed of the raptor 700
A raptor is a dune cruiser. It's too top heavy and heavier than a 450. I would take a 400ex over a raptor for mx. Or woods racing. But have fun with what you have just take it easy and upgrade suspension before you add power.
I haven't ridden the DS 650. I'd imagine it's a very smooth ride however I think it's ride height would hurt it tremendously in an aggressive race situation. I don't doubt it could out perform the raptor but definitely not the yfz450r or honda 450r for that matter. The canam 450 I'm sure is impressive!

badlands is mx track is bad regardless. been there 15 times last time was in 2016 they dont really take take of it. doesnt help that you get utility guys on there when its muddy making huge ruts.
Badlands never maintains that track. Back in 2010ish it was almost unrideable . Then they redid it and never really fixed the issues of water pooling, crappy take offs, rutted landings, and that flat landing jump. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll go around is once or twice, but it’s in such poor condition and NEVER maintained
You'd benefit greatly in cornering and suspension if you cleaned your air filter and replaced your grips. It's obvious they're bad.

I definitely would delete the AIS it cleans up the idle of the quad. However to see the best benefits of the vortex you would want to get it tuned.

I put +2” long travel A-Arms and extended axel and my Raptor handles much better now for this type of riding

You’re correct though. They handle and ride like a double deckered bus. I gave one and hardly ride it . May even sell it and just ride my ktm 505sx.
