Why did he wander off to go roll in more seaweed when she was obviously already ready to mate?
If there's already a male ready and willing to mate right next to her, she's not gonna wait for the other male.
124Nightwing she was ready to mate of course, but not with everyone. She framed Van as "provider" while this other bear appealed to her more as a lover some one who has stronger genes for successful and survivable offspring. Female imperative - works among all species.
that makes no sense dude. a provider is a successful candidate because he must be able to acquire resources in the first place. a provider would be the one with better genes because he can provide. not just for himself.
Tryhard you're absolutely right that a provider can provide. That's why Alice wanted to keep good relationship with Van, so that she can raise offspring with him while he provides. However she preferred this young grizzly's genes, because she considered him more alpha. Am I more clear now? The younger bear was more assertive and decisive when approaching her. Females associate that with dominance and alphaness. Even though van might be physically stronger, this young bear has more "survivability" if he can sneak his way like that. If it still doesn't make sense I can recommend an excellent book by Rollo Tomassi "rationale male" - this will clear up any confusions.
