This is by far the best information source on Internet regarding this VISA. Great work. Subscribed.
It's visa
That was a great webinar! Looking forward to join upcoming ones.
Thank you, I appreciate all the work that went into this video!
Glad it was helpful!
Fantastic q&a
Thanks
Portugal is the new tech capital of Europe
Lmao
How about apartment contract requirement, like in D7?
For clarification are you saying that for the D7 Visa I do not have to show proof of address or where I will be residing?
g' evening dears, which websites or companies in portugal hire non EU people outside portugal. thanks
Is the minimum income requirement for a Digital Nomad visa net or gross income?
Hi, on D7 visa how long it will take school going kids to become citizen of Portugal? Thanks in advance!
If your kids are coming to Portugal under your visa, they will become citizens when you do
I am from India and meet all the requirements of this VISA including income.
My aim is to eventually get citizenship. Would it be possible for you to make a video explaining what it needs to go from Digital Nomad Residence VISA to eventual citizenship.
I think it was covered but in different questions. 42:39 If a person qualifies for D7, is there any benefit to choosing the Digital Nomad Visa instead, or should they stick to the D7? That covered most of it. You need to have a residence permit for 5 years in order to apply for Citizenship. That process Beatriz says is taking 2 years. During that time you will need to be on another residence permit.
@@JonesTravelers Should be okay. Initial long term residence visa via Digital Nomad Route is for 2 years, then ran be renewed for 3 more. Totaling to 5 years.
@@youtindia Once you hit the 5 year mark and apply for citizenship you will also need another temporary or permanent resident permit while the citizen application is being processed. Current processing time is 2 years.
Guys, I see conflicting information that needs clarification. It looks like the new Digital Nomad visa does NOT require a year-long rental contract, NIF and an open Portuguese bank account. Can you confirm that??
There is a post on the Expats Portugal forums by someone who just submitted her application, and she details what was required.
@@JonesTravelers which forum?
@@julieo5993 There is an issue posting links on CZcams comments. Can a person apply on savings alone?
I have heard stories that you can but I believe they want to see a revenue stream. That is easy to do with saving being in a CD.
How is this visa named in sef site or e vis aportal? To see specific info
I think there are 2 options based on your intentions. A "D" for long term and a "E" for short term.
What Visa would I need to retire to Portugal
The D7.
Hi, is there any further info on what kind of visa this is , is it a D8? I am not able to find any info anywhere, this should have been out and available by now
I am not clear if there is an actual number but just classified as a Digital Nomad visa.
Where is the majority of the information in this video coming from? Can you provide a link to the primary source coming from the government?
Particularly, where are you sourcing your info that the new visa _replaces_ the D7 for remote workers (employed or independent) who want to get residency?
@@PrinceAndTheHarper It is in the Journal of the Republic No. 127/2007, Series I 2007-07-04
@@JonesTravelers I don't know what the Journal of the Republic is (links would be useful!), but anything dated from 2007 is about fifteen years too old to be useful wrt this new visa.
@@PrinceAndTheHarper Each time I put in the link my comment is removed. It is the DRE website with a PT domain. I have been studying PT immigration law for over a year now. The law is amended based on subsequent legislation approvals. That is how it works in PT. The law was recently updated on Aug 26. You can see all the changes that have been applied to the law on the site.
@@JonesTravelers Tough to see what you're seeing without a link. Regardless, does this link explicitly state that the new visa _replaces_ the D7 for remote workers (employed or independent) who want to get residency? That's the one and only fact I am trying to confirm.
On 6 month digital nomad visa I can freely travel between all EU countries right?
That is a good question. I did not travel while on my D7. The EU is not as open as you would think. The visa is inserted into your passport hence your passport is what makes or breaks you in some EU countries.
If not all EU countries, which all countries I can visit if I'm living in Portugal with 6 months digital nomad visa? I can only travel within Portugal? That's what you are saying?
Btw I have Indian passport.
@@shivamp1886 I am reading that you are only allowed in Portugal with the visa. I could be wrong, but it does not appear to be a Schengen valid visa. You of course can go anywhere your passport allows for travel.
Thanks for your reply. Do you know the official website where I can read about these things. I was confused when I Googled.
So does this mean a family of 4 need at least $6000 Monthly euro?
I believe Gilda mentioned just qualifying the initial applicant for the visa and then doing a family reunification for the other family members. That process requires less income.
@@JonesTravelers OH thank you for clarifying
Hi Kate, it works as such: the income base is 4x minimum wage for the main applicant , then 50% of minimum wage for partner; then 30% of minimum for each child.....
What is the minimum stay requirement for the resident version of the visa?
Are you referring to the time you need to stay in Portugal while under the first 2-year residence permit and the following 3-year residence permit? During those periods you cannot be absent more than 6 consecutive months or 8 months interpolated.
Thanks Trevor!
