  • In this video I show you how to install an OPV on a Nuova Simonelli Oscar II. This is not just a kit install, but I have sourced various in-expensive parts and bring them together to make an OPV system that the Oscar II's often lack.
The OPV is a $20AUD part from and Isomac, there is few dollar 1/8 BSP Female to Female connector, some silicone tube with 5mm ID and a plastic 5mm T-connector. All together less than $30 in parts when kits cost $120+ in Australia.

Mate thanks for this, I just picked up a used Oscar II because I killed my faithful OG Oscar. I picked up that same valve from Jetblack, got the silicon tube from Clark Rubber and the rest of the bits from Funnings incl a $20 gauge from the toolshop. The one part I didn't get was the 1/8 F-F, but did the mod tonight and found that the nipple on the Oscar is actually a F thread so I just wound that onto the bottom of the valve without needing the coupler.
All tested, set to about 10 Bar and happy days!

Thanks for the vid dude. Would it be possible for you to make a video on how to descale the Oscar 2 and how to drain the boiler properly? Would be amazing since this machine is difficult to descale.

You are right descaling them is quite involved. I dont have the machine so a video is out. If I recall the process: there is a hex plug located low on the boiler. Drain boiler. Then refill the boiler manually with a descaling solution ( the same qty you drained out). The replace the plug. heat up machine and then let it sit for a few hours. Then turn off machine. once cooled it will be safe the remove plug and drain out descaler. The rinse out the boiler (pour water in, swill around, empty). Finally, refill boiler with fresh "soft" water. Good luck.

Thank you for the detailed demo. What device did you attach to the portafilter to test the bars? Any specs on that?

Is the isomac expansion valve adjustable? Just cant find the scene on the video that you adjusted it while checking the pressure gauge

There is adjustment yes, you can wind it in or out. Additionally you could remove a coil from the spring to get a great range of pressures

Would this work on a plumbed in version of Oscar II?

Actually no, I think it might have been fitted locally by importer and then sold as a pro model or something

Sorry, I don't know Indonesian. If your machine is overheating it is probably that the pressure stat has failed and you need a new one.
