    I can pick up a diesel Rubicon - only 270hp, but 440 lb-ft of torque at 1400rpms - for 25k less. Seems like that would be more valuable to someone who actually off-roads.
    The 392 feels like something people will buy and try not to get scratched. But... to each his own.

    • @KTMcaptain
      @KTMcaptain Před 3 lety

      Diesel torque requires a fully spooled turbo, so it typically has less torque and taller gearing than the pentastar. You can supercharge the Penta to 440hp easily though for $7k.

    • @jackcasse
      @jackcasse Před 3 lety

      @@KTMcaptain I don't understand. I'm not an expert by any means, but if the torque curve reads 440@1400, that's what it reads. What difference would the spool time of the turbo make?

    • @KTMcaptain
      @KTMcaptain Před 3 lety

      @@jackcasse It’s harder to modulate torque when it lags and you have to stay on throttle to keep torque up. Also, diesels have taller gearing so they transfer less torque to the wheels. You can literally lose momentum waiting on the turbo boost trying to get over an obstacle.

  • @mvp1431
    @mvp1431 Před 3 lety

    Carlos obviously the 392 is silly fun in this thing. But I can’t help but think that the 5.7 might have been a more practical idea. You would get better fuel economy and could slot it in between price wise while still having a very quick jeep with v8 sound. Did they explain to you at all why they choose to go straight to the 6.4. At a 30k premium that might be a hard stretch?

    • @jizzyjake6783
      @jizzyjake6783 Před 2 lety

      I agree about the price should probably be more like 50-60k price range to me but all Jeep's are a little overpriced. The 6.4 and 5.7 are actually pretty close efficiency wise during normal driving though. If you look at a charger for example the 5.7 is only rated 1 mpg better than a Scatpack.

    • @mvp1431
      @mvp1431 Před 2 lety

      @@jizzyjake6783 the larger point is that the 5.7 as a hypothetical 7500 to 10000 dollar option on a rubicon could be the Jeep’s version of the scat pack engine upgrade. You could get 90% of the experience at a much cheaper price with the added bonus of minor fuel efficiency.

    • @jizzyjake6783
      @jizzyjake6783 Před 2 lety

      @@mvp1431 yeah it would be a nice option but I think they just had a certain price target as a high end model and the 6.4l could justify it more than the 5.7. I've never really been into Jeep's but if they offered this in a trim for 50-60k I would be intrigued.

    Love the enthusiasm. But $75K+ for a Rubicon? I think not.

    That is a great engine but I rather have it in a Grand Cherokee than Wrangler. No one takes over 70k vehicle off-road. And on road, driving dynamics of Wrangler don’t lend themselves to a grey energine. I take my Wrangler with slow and reliable Pentastar V6.

      The point isn't to be able to take it offroad. The point is to say you have a wrangler that can gap V6 mustangs. Since when was the pentastar reliable? This engine is better than the pentastar in literally every single way.

    Does it stop well? Yes it does. 133 feet, which is excellent considering the weight of the vehicle. Small SUV average is 132 feet.

    $75,000+. I'm glad you enjoyed it. By the way. Are you buying one? If not. Why since you seem to think having a Hemi makes it the best off-roader ever. High horsepower is for Baja trucks. Not rock climbing or a small family vehicle. If I'm going to spend that amount. I want luxury. Maybe an Aviator. You mentioned refined while saying it not comfortable. And you get both for $75,000+.
