Every time I listen to this song, it reminds me how overwhelmingly hard life can be, how helpless it can all seem, how things can seem "too much, too bright, too powerful". It's so beautiful and sad and....
I think it depends on who's listening. For me, How to disappear completely, Street Spirit and Last Flowers are the most devastating. After that, probably Daydreaming and others.
guys it seems you listen more radiohead songs than i do, and I'm amazed you can't feel the real hopelessness and sadness of street spirit.. I am more amazed that creep has so many views and street spirit so few.. no offence
Videotape and exit music are also extremely depressing songs. It's amazing how these songs produce such profound feelings in so many people, and yet they are cathartic, almost therapeutic to some people like myself.
i don't think listeners could ever truly understand how the artist feels or considers his or her own compositions to be...its doesn't matter if they do or don't 'get it', each listener will love or relate to the music in their own unique way...and thats the whole beauty of it...btw another breathtaking performance from Thom....i hope he lives over a hundred years n continues making spell-bounding music like this..
What I've noticed is that mainstream bands' fans have urges to get mad or want to party. Radiohead fans just want hugs and for humanity to stop being so stupid.
I didn't mean it in that way. There is just more emotional draw towards Radiohead songs like "True Love Waits" or "Motion Picture Soundtrack" or this song. A lot of other bands get popular from drawing other interests.
Alex Marchante / The Bullpen News ahahahahahaha coming from your comment dissing twenty one pilots fans. Get over yourself mate. Everyone relates to music in their own way your not special.
*LYRICS* Appliances have gone berserk I cannot keep up Treading on people's toes Snot-nosed little punk And I can't face the evening straight You can offer me escape Houses move and houses speak If you take me there you'll get relief, relief, relief, relief And if I'm gonna talk I just want to talk Please don't interrupt Just sit back and listen 'Cause I can't face the evening straight You can offer me escape Houses move and houses speak If you take me there…
+ゲムキッド i have reviewed it today)) I can say the soundtracks are awesome!!! it's a hard movie to watch, japanese know how to make good psychological thrillers.
@sunkenbumnuts agree...i wish more people would understand radiohead, this band is truely the best band of all times, the songs are so deep/beatiful and i cry everytime i hear this song remembering about my past
Radiohead me lleva a todas partes, me pone introspectivo e ilumina cada rincon de mi alma. Es una experiencia unica, que llevo incorporada y que solo su musica despierta.
in a way I love the fact that most people I know havn't even heard of thom and think radioheads songs all sound the same. I guess u can lead a horse to water ect, but u either have musical taste or u watch X factor. A truly beautiful song.
Reminds me of breaking up with my ex and splitting up the home that we shared for several years. Then the resulting aftermath of just wanting to actually speak to someone. Succinct is the only word that I can come up with.
@caro gonzalez that's because maybe you don't understand what it means, it has a strong message about living with drugs and depression and also this song is a memorial for Kurt. Cobain
@RevolutionGuitars I can see picking something like this at wedding. If you and your partner are touched enough by a song like this it makes that moment so much more memorable. In fact I would prefer something almost like an inside joke/relation versus some cliche love song. To each their own.
@rif0802 The user that had the video with 800 000 views removed it. Unfortunate because I had it bookmarked and when i saw it was removed i was like... O.o Who would remove such awesome music?
I used an CZcams to mp3 converter when there was still a studio version on CZcams. I would have happily bought a CD, vinyl, downloaded it, whatever, but that wasn't an option. It's really frustrating when artists don't make their music available to purchase...
Unfortunately Discbox was a limited edition kinda thing but the wonders of internet piracy can give you CD 2 in a snap on your favourite p2p application. I am hoping they release it seperately someday, though.
I know it's just a b-side but for me this song is one of their best. Goes to show what a stunning band they are.
ilovemypiano this song came out in 09 a powerful year. For me with the loss of my mom and step father the year before it brings me solace
It's a great song. Fully agree
Every time I listen to this song, it reminds me how overwhelmingly hard life can be, how helpless it can all seem, how things can seem "too much, too bright, too powerful". It's so beautiful and sad and....
= *
and indescribable, as life is
Radiohead are extraterrestrials sent to earth to help us live :-)
Thank you Radiohead !!
Subterranean Homesick aliens haha
assomigli a Tom York.....
MORAMAX subterranean homesick aliens.
Lol this song has the opposite effect
the saddest and most heartbreaking song ever by radiohead in my opinion
너무 슬프...
I think it depends on who's listening. For me, How to disappear completely, Street Spirit and Last Flowers are the most devastating. After that, probably Daydreaming and others.

This song made me cry. Absolute perfection of a song.
What a song! What a musician!
So much respect for Thom Yorke
What I've noticed is that mainstream bands' fans have urges to get mad or want to party. Radiohead fans just want hugs and for humanity to stop being so stupid.
Alex Marchante You sound pretentious as hell. I suggest taking a step back
I didn't mean it in that way. There is just more emotional draw towards Radiohead songs like "True Love Waits" or "Motion Picture Soundtrack" or this song. A lot of other bands get popular from drawing other interests.

@Michael Valensi this comment is 3 years old.
@Michael Valensi again 😂 I didn't mean for it to sound pretentious but yes that is kinda cringe to read that back.
Am I the only one who feels like Radiohead fills an empty part of my soul?
*LYRICS*
Appliances have gone berserk
I cannot keep up
Treading on people's toes
Snot-nosed little punk
And I can't face the evening straight
You can offer me escape
Houses move and houses speak
If you take me there you'll get relief, relief, relief, relief
And if I'm gonna talk
I just want to talk
Please don't interrupt
Just sit back and listen
'Cause I can't face the evening straight
You can offer me escape
Houses move and houses speak
If you take me there…
WHO could possibly have given this a thumbs-down? I don't get it. This is a masterpiece!
People who like Fallout Boy.
Ty Binegar Hee hee, good one!
Kristin Pawlewicz They must have been so moved by the music they slipped and accidentally hit the thumbs down button instead of the up.
AnissaLea That MUST be it, yes, of course!
AnissaLea Down Is the New Up
i love thom's handwriting.. i think i love everything about him.
Just discovered this song yesterday, and it's already haunting my life...damn you Radiohead you have done it to me again. Damn you
One of the most beautiful songs I ever heard!
Just the most amazing song I have ever heard. Too much. Too bright. Too powerful. Xx

There are not many people in this world with this type of intense control on emotion.
like i'm dying..
Radiohead is just that. Too much, too bright, too powerful.
who else seen the japanese movie "Confessions"?
that movie is fantastic. this song make that movie more gloomy :D
+ゲムキッド i have reviewed it today))
I can say the soundtracks are awesome!!!
it's a hard movie to watch, japanese know how to make good psychological thrillers.
I bet those 14 people that disliked are Twenty One Pilots fans
Alex Marchante / The Bullpen News wat

A very powerful song, from the best artist on this earth!!
God....his voice is beyond even a compliment. it might sound cheesy, but im breathless with awe....
truly a genius..i never get tired of thom and radiohead..
Beautifully done..
Agreed. I had ignored this song until now.... sheesh. There are no words. Or, I can't take the evening without radiohead. If we listen we get relief.
Beautiful.
hermosa, canciòn. de esas que despiertan un gran sentimiento de nostalgia.
una de las canciones más bellas que existen.. thom es un genio
just beautiful, nothing else to tell about it.
How an amazing human being!
thom yorke es un genio con el piano y con todo
Try to sing «If you take me there you'll get... relief» with the falsetto switch. Thom is something else.
this is perfection.
WOW!

Just another masterpiece of them, I'm not surprise If he will give 10 more tomorrow :)), Love you Radiohead, as always.

Great song to fall asleep to.
I hate how much i love this song3
all I can say is: wow and: I wish it never stopped
Why won't life work the way it does in my head?
Because otherwise it would get too predictable.
Matthew Boyer I know man, sometimes it sucks.
Matthew Boyer Don't we wish. The most human desire we have.
Matthew Boyer aw bby
you just want to hug and be hugged by this guy
@sunkenbumnuts agree...i wish more people would understand radiohead, this band is truely the best band of all times, the songs are so deep/beatiful and i cry everytime i hear this song remembering about my past
When Thom plays, it's like time stops, everything else in the world becomes irrelevant, and for a brief moment everything makes sense.
love it
Who knew the word 'toes' could be so emotive. Brilliant song.
like this song
the Japanese movie CONFESSIONS got me here
me too! best japanese movie ever!
thom voice makes me cry :,)
Radiohead is probably the most influential band out there right now. They are just so good on so many different levels.
Radiohead me lleva a todas partes, me pone introspectivo e ilumina cada rincon de mi alma. Es una experiencia unica, que llevo incorporada y que solo su musica despierta.
Requiem for a dream
maybe you're in love with his amazing talent, i am too
I miss this Thom...
I want this played at my funeral.
they should realy play this one on tour soon
there is just so much pain in his voice god
in a way I love the fact that most people I know havn't even heard of thom and think radioheads songs all sound the same. I guess u can lead a horse to water ect, but u either have musical taste or u watch X factor. A truly beautiful song.
down is the new up, last flowers, go slowly, 4 minute warning, up on the ladder, and bangers and mash
OMG perfect................. Radiohead are living legends.
This is one of the things i've heard in my hole life... Thom is genius.
♥

Reminds me of breaking up with my ex and splitting up the home that we shared for several years. Then the resulting aftermath of just wanting to actually speak to someone. Succinct is the only word that I can come up with.
Pretty song, worth checking out the whole episode of "From the Basement".
The chord progression: F-, G-, A-, C, E- (repeat); D-, A-, G, F, C, E- (repeat); A, C+6, Eaug4 (repeat).
When you don't understand the world but you remember this exists
woah.
wow.
AGREED
@caro gonzalez that's because maybe you don't understand what it means, it has a strong message about living with drugs and depression and also this song is a memorial for Kurt. Cobain
i play this to my class and all start crying O_o
i like how it's "last flowers (from the basement)" instead of "last flowers to the hospital".
Who cares about sexual matters when a song this pure and genuine is offered to you?
I want a hug :(
effortless as per usual thom
Gem
@RevolutionGuitars I can see picking something like this at wedding. If you and your partner are touched enough by a song like this it makes that moment so much more memorable. In fact I would prefer something almost like an inside joke/relation versus some cliche love song.
To each their own.
Where can I get the lyrics??
If You anyone of You knows where they can be found, please write me!!

drool
OMG. His beard is flawless.
E così, esiste il sublime.
To my grandpa.
there is literally no way for me to get my hands on a good copy of this song without having to pay at least 100$
I used an CZcams to mp3 converter when there was still a studio version on CZcams. I would have happily bought a CD, vinyl, downloaded it, whatever, but that wasn't an option. It's really frustrating when artists don't make their music available to purchase...
