Nu Metal has been dead for over 20 years and you're still having small penis rage over it. Like get a life. Dudes like Limp Bizkit, POD and Crazy Town took all the girls home. It was cool music. Slipknot, Korn, SOAD, Linkin Park, Deftones, Limp Bizkit all sound near enough nothing alike. Of course, there are smaller bands in the genre that sound generic af but you know...

Yeah, that's the cool thing with genres that are basically built around "take something simple but then pile random weird shit on top of it" since everyone ends up doing different weird shit in order to stand out. There are a lot of bad nu metal bands but at least it's a very diverse array of bad bands. Another example was the wave of hipster indie pop that came in halfway through the nu metal era and was similarly short-lived, lots of bands doing basically the same thing but in their own quirky way.

@@SOBEKCrocodileGod I'd say after their self titled Deftones have had very little to do with nu metal, like their riffs still groove but it's not your classic nu metal bounce riffs, and they're mostly working in the shoegazey and atmospheric sound they started to show in be quiet and drive, really the only thing still nu metalish is the drumming style

I have a guilty pleasure with this video. I have watched it now a total of 4 times.
Each time the video was muted, whilst my spotify playlist played in the backround on shuffle, which consisted of all kinds of Grunge, Desert Rock and Metal Bands and I was stoned out of my mind.
This is so trippy. This video is so crazily edited, that only looking at it makes my jaw drop in awe.
I don't hear what he is saying, but I still feel like I can follow his string of thoughts.
The music in the backround leads to lots of funny moments when the music matches the video *exactly*.
Duo to my playlist being on shuffle, each time I watched this video again, the experience was totally different.
I never watched this video when it wasn't muted. I never watched a video of you. I don't know what you sound like.
The visual part of your video alone is worth admiring. Lots of things happening, crazy colors. And you still get what he is saying.
    Good video

I feel attacked lol. [I know the video is a joke, much of this was sarcasm and just shooting the shit about metal. Some of you take things way too seriously]
Nu-Metal was the stepping stone for me. I was out at the local midnight release sale for Slipknot's Iowa, which I will argue to my death bed had some death metal influence upon looking back at it years later and falling in love with dm in general. If it weren't for bands like Linkin Park, Primer 55, Papa Roach, Relative Ash (yeah, epic long forgotten callback to the genre right there), Ultraspank (one of the best of the field and it sucks they split up), SOAD, Mudvayne, Slipknot, yeah I'd probably never have discovered King Diamond's Graveyard or Annihilator's Criteria for a Black Widow (the one that changed me, and saved me from something really stupid).
That said, I won't lie when I say i dive back into the catalogue of yesterday. I'm 35 this August and still throw on the occassional KoRn and Limp Bizkit, not to mention many others listed above. You want a good laugh, check out the album Jump Start by Simon Says. It's like a boy band thought "We can be Linkin Park", and I still listen to it unironically from time to time. This coming from someone who loves all facets of metal and has over 3000 recordings in his music library.
So, yeah. I feel attacked a bit, but you guys are spot on. Loved the vid, and thanks for the laughs. \m/
