You've completely described the exact process I went through in the start ( even showing the compact cameras I was looking at!! ) Anyway, I've been looking at the 24mm F2.8 for a while and this further convinces me to get it! Thanks for the video
Love this comparison
You are so spot on on the succession obsession flow! It exactly followed my interests. Are you a mind reader?
EyE agrees. I shoot with Fujifilm for all the obvious reasons, but use an older Sony full frame , a Sony A7 II for my full frame vintage lenses. Since I had the body, I decided to pick up a couple of modern autofocus lenses as well. Nowadays computers have enabled quite good entry level, relatively cheap lenses to be had. That being the case, a bit of research amongst lens reviews lead me to the Samyang/Rokinon series. I consequently picked up a small set, which includes the same 24mm f2.8 featured here. Love it for what it is, a tiny, less than nothing weighted nifty walkaround I barely notice..... the right tool for the job at the right price, less than $200.
Started with this (the 35), then collected Zuiko vintage ones, now returning to these…
I bought one a few years ago for my Sony. Rarely do I need something wider. Even wide open I am satisfied with the results. But the size and price more than make up for it. Stopped down slightly, it only gets better!
Hey Andrew, this lens look great. I see you have a very similar lens collection to mine. I do also look for little fast lenses, and 1.8 is a good balance. Cheers!
Your lens obsession story is exactly like my own story..just that now im in the vintage lens phase 😅
I absolutely LOVE this little lens. Stick it on my little A6400 and I've got a pretty pocketable 35mm point and shoot camera. Great for street photography, and pictures of my kids playing in the park.
My only gripe is with Samyang themselves. There are firmware updates available for this lens (and other Samyang ones) that will improve the autofocus, but they make you pay for a special dock to be able to update the firmware. On my Sigma lenses I can update those by having them attached to my camera then plugging the camera into my PC.
I've had a small touch of photo-obsession but I'm in recovery and down to only a few cameras.
Reminds me of the Sony 35f2.8
Yes, I have that one also, same size & price as the 24mm, but a bit better optical quality.
great vid.
I love the smallest lense that does almost everything.
❤❤❤Big fan of Samyangs! I have the Sony 20mm 2.8 on my a5100, and wonder how much there is more to gain vs this Samyang.
I love the 14mm f2.5 on my GH6 for the exact same reason. It looks silly on that monster of a camera body but it is nice to have a sub 1000g camera at times. now I just need a tiny body MFT camera to keep in my pocket. I don't like using the phone as a camera. I'm a Gen X not a zoomer!!!!
What is a fast lense?
For me it’s two things, 1) one with an aperture of F1.8 or larger, and 2) quick mechanical operation to keep up with focus.
👍
That’s my story
Hi, video af fast!?
