    Nice video! This is very similar to how I make them for my family, but we always fry them. I think I will have to try baking them instead. I just wouldn't have thought about trying that with crab rangoons. To everyone who is hesitant to try these, they really are easy to make, just a little time consuming if you are making a large batch. They are soooo worth it though. Thanks Noreen, for the baking tip!

      Not the cats, the baby squirrels that we saved when the tree was removed from our yard. They are now about 6 months old. The two boys are living in one cage and they don't come out very often, but the baby girl, who would not have survived in the wild because she has a tooth deformity and needs to have her teeth trimmed every week or so, just so she can eat has very sharp claws and sometime it cannot be avoided that I get scratched. No worries though they are all healthy and have no diseases. They were bottle fed by me and my girls from the time we found them and they had no hair and their eyes were still closed. We love them and they are the most awesome little creatures.

    • @noreenskitchenchannel
      @noreenskitchenchannel  Před 10 lety

      Our favorite Chinese place is China Wok in the Food Lion shopping center off of Red Robin Lane. They have decent food and we know the owners. My youngest goes to school with their daughter. We have never had a bad meal from them. Their prices are good too. I used to like the King Buffet in Havelock, but it seems they have either changed owners or just cheaped out and they are not good any more. When I worked in Havelock I like the "Canton" restaurant across the street from the police station in that little hotel. They have the best almond chicken I have ever had. Always got it with extra almond and pea pods and no bell peppers. I don't like their buffet at all, but ordering off the menu there is awesome.

    • @shimmerysummersun
      @shimmerysummersun Před 10 lety

      I will have to give China Wok a try. My favorite used to be the place in New Bern across from Teeter on Glenburnie. I can't recall the name of it. But the past couple of times I've been there the food hasn't been good at all. I agree with you about King Buffet in Havelock, it has definitely gone down hill. I heard that the people who ran Canton in the hotel are now at China Inn next to Mario's by the Wal Mart in Havelock.

    Okay, this may seem like a dumb question, but is imitation crabmeat made out of some fish-like product? Or is it a soy product? I only ask because I have developed an allergy to seafood. If it really is fish, I'll just leave it out. I've had rangoons without the crab and they are almost as delish. Thank you so much for showing us that you can bake them..soooo much easier than frying. Also, where in the grocery should I look for the wonton wrappers?

    • @noreenskitchenchannel
      @noreenskitchenchannel  Před 10 lety

      Imitation crab meat is called Surimi. It is made from chopped and formed white fish. Very delicious, but still a fish. Not seafood, but fish. Fish is fish, shell fish is sea food. It is unlikely you are allergic to both. Most people who have allergies are either allergic to fish or to shellfish, but not usually both.

    No disrespect at all but please leave out the onion powder, garlic powder and Worcestershire sauce and add more green onion. I tried it with Worcestershire and the flavor is not right.

    • @noreenskitchenchannel
      @noreenskitchenchannel  Před 10 lety +3

      You are free to make changes to suit your taste. I will keep mine this way because that is how we enjoy it and that is how it is traditionally made. Every crab rangoon recipe I have researched indeed has Worcestershire. No worries. You make it the way you like it.

    • @SouloDoloMusic
      @SouloDoloMusic Před 8 lety +2

      Except there's no "traditional" way to make Crab Rangoon. It's great you enjoy it like that but it's not how American-Chinese restaurants do it. They don't put Onion/Garlic powder or Shire sauce.

    Oh wow great recipe noreen thank you we love your channel & btw my daughter katy wanted me to say thank you for saving the squirrels she had one named franklin who just passed last week it broke her heart but she had 4 wonderful years with him she raised from a baby :)

    • @noreenskitchenchannel
      @noreenskitchenchannel  Před 10 lety +1

      Patricia Griffith I am sorry to hear about Franklin. They are awesome little creatures. We did a lot of thinking and research before we decided to save them. The wildlife rehabs in my area are all donation based and two of them have closed and one was under renovation. The tree man said that a lot of people just dig a hole and bury them. Both Molly and I started to tear up when hearing him say that. I cannot let one of God's little creatures suffer that type of end just because. So we have three little tree rats for pets. Samson, Simon and Sweet Pea who we just mostly call baby girl. They are Eastern Gray Squirrels and from the information we read, they can live up to 20 years in captivity if taken care of properly. They really need a specific diet and it is broad, so every morning we make them a squirrel salad and give them a variety of nuts and seeds and I sprinkle their food with something called Squirrel Booster that I obtained from an exotic pet supply. So far they are doing everything the research says they should be doing. They have molted their baby coat and grown lush new grown up coats. The boys are aggressive, but they are loving with us and the girl is so much fun! We don't want any babies, so they have separate cages. I don't show them in my videos because I don't need the back lash from certain individuals who will tell me I am doing them a disservice by keeping them. I don't see how that is true.

    • @flossysmartt
      @flossysmartt Před 10 lety

      Its not a disservice its admiral in my opinion ! My little girl absolutely loved franklin he was gray squirrel also we also had to maintain a special diet & also you have to be very careful around cats bc any scratch are bite will kill them automatically :( he was just the smartest squirrel he loving playing & never scratched or bite her she was truly crushed when he passed our vet said it was just his time :( anyway i love your channel & thank you for replying btw i have no idea why my comment posted 3x sorry for that
