CBTC Project Update for the BART Board of Directors

Work is underway to install a new Communications Based Train Control (CBTC) system at BART. This modernization project will increase the frequency of trains, improve the reliability of our system, and provide a smoother ride. It will replace our 50 year old train control signaling system which uses a fixed block system with significant operational limitations. On October 12, 2023 project staff gave an update to the BART Board of Directors to give the public some insight into how CBTC will be rolled out across the system.

Hi the basically problem is the tube under San Francisco Bay and CBTC will definitely get them some breathing room but as most cities in the world the population is growing and eventually CBTC will not helped much and all, the answer is a new tunnel under San Francisco Bay?. It's gonna be expensive but I don't think you've got any alternative. The Bart people must regretting not having 4 tunnels instead of two because that would help a lot.
