    Only things I would add (cuz I don’t remember seeing them) are scissors and correction tape. Every newbie goes through that fear of making the first marks in pen...and heaven forbid a mistake is made.

    Great video. Rewatched today and thought I’d add comments about pens. I love the Pilot Frixion pens. They are erasable gel pens that work really well in the happy planner and don’t leave residue. I’m one of those people that was afraid of writing in my planner. Didn’t want to mess it up. Try them, I think you’ll love them too.

    Great tips... I also love having a ruler in my planner stash.. it can be used for various things in addition to measuring... an edge to tear off washi, using for straight lines.. also a pencil with a nice eraser... I keep one with me all the time...

    Whiteout tape for whitening out lines and a old credit or store card to cut washi. I have everything except the notebook, the tape and the punch. Haven't had a need for either of those 3 things. My suggestion for first time planner sticker books I recommend are the rainbow and the 1050 sticker packs. The 1050 sticker value pack was my very 1st book and it helped that it already came with stickers to help plan for an entire week that were already themed

    I would add wax paper for a Happy Planner newbie who wants to use a lot of stickers, because especially if you’re not familiar with the mambi sticker books yet, it’s nice to pull stickers as you see them and place them on the wax paper so you don’t get too lost in the sticker books! Also white out tape😁

    The only thing you Must have is a blank notebook and a pen/pencil. Make a bullet journal and test stuff out. If you find that you don’t like to make calendar pages and do lean towards a certain layout. Buy a HP extension and try it out. And before anyone blasts me. I bought all this stuff when I first started.

    Another whole punch out there that is perfect either as your main punch or an on-the-go punch is the $14ish dollar arc punch from staples. Is flat and easy to put in any bag. I love mine. I use it a lot on the go.

    Hi Heather. So I began planning last year and didn't know much about it. I started and didn't fully utilize everything I had bought. My co-worker told me to check out your videos and since I started watching them (I began watching on 10/30/19) I have a better understanding on how I can make this better for me. I've been to Michael's, JoAnn's and Hobby Lobby everyday this week and I picked up a few of the items from your videos (Towbow tape & X-acto knife). I'm SUPER EXCITED that I'm drafting my December Calendar now. Thanks for all the wonderful tips. And yes, Fiskars is the best. My mom has been using their products for 30 years.

    I am a planner newbie and I've been buying some of these items a little at a time and others (stickers and paper/notebooks) a lot at a time. Some things like the paper cutter (also punches and scrapbook paper) I have from creative memories from my scrapbooking days. Two things I would add to your list are a white out runner and a good pair of scissors. Thanks for all your videos.

    I counted 179 sticker books (and AccessorySticker Books, Dashboard Sticker Packs, but not the ones with the cards and not the mini pads) until now. It exploded between Oktober 2018 and Oktober 2019. For this reason I used „our“ stickerbook-list, that I copied last year from your video and added every new book regularily.
    For Beginners: don’t buy too much in the first weeks. Get used to the books one by one slowly. Find out your needs and your taste.
    e.g. I bought Big Planner Sticker without knowing it, just because they looked cute. 3 years later I still don’t have a big Planner 😅😂🤣

I am not crafty and don't scrapbook(though planning makes me want to use stickers and a vertical layout and do sometbing with pics and memories), so I will probably hold off on the punch and paper trimmer. I am going crazy with stickers though! I like the idea of Happy Notes and may have to hit Hobby Lobby while things are 40% off!

    Can you use regular white paper in the Happy Planner or does it have to be a particular weight or even card stock? I'm concerned that regular weight paper may not take the punch as well and not stay in the rings. Thanks.

    • @jmatos7872
      @jmatos7872 Před 4 lety +1

      perryandmichelle you can use any paper you’d like. As long as you have the hole punch so that they fit into your disc. You create use your planner the best way it works for you. There are lots of Etsy shops that have kits etc you can implement into your planner.

      @@jmatos7872 Thanks for the response. That was the only thing holding me back from the Happy Planner because I want to be able to punch my to do lists and move them from week to week because I usually take that long to get stuff done. I'm off to see what kind of goodies they sell.

    • @tinxybee9592
      @tinxybee9592 Před 4 lety +1

      You CAN use any paper but the lighter paper weights (like standard copy paper, or standard notepad papers etc.) will not stay put on the discs as well as heavier paper weights. I use 120 gsm paper myself (about 32 lbs), and companies that sell discbound products, like MAMBI/Happy Planner, Staples ARC, Levenger Circa etc. usually use at least 100 gsm paper. This is for a reason, and that is because the thinner paper will not stay put as easily. The discbound system isn't really meant for the lighter paper weights. Also, if you're gonna move the paper around the lighter paper weights will be too flimsy fairly quickly. It simply works best with sturdier paper.
      You won't have a problem actually punching lighter weight paper, it's just the use of it with the discs that won't be ideal in the long run.
