How am I supposed to be inspired by a team that bought its way into a league, had a draft, got trades and guaranteed to stay in the league so guaranteed earnings.
This was not an already existing team that "bought its way into a league." The owners were awarded a new team in the league, a completely new team that never existed before, and built it from the ground up. St. Louis City SC had historically unpresidented success for an expansion team in its inargual season in any North American professional team sport. This is how North American professional sports leagues and teams have developed since their beginnings in the sport of baseball from the 1870's onwards.
