You have solved my year and a half battle with hip impingement pain in my right hip. I've tried every strength exercise and hip stretching I could find. Physical therapy failed me. Learning to walk properly solved my issue! I've heard many other gait specialists talk about using your glutes to walk but no one ever described quite how to do that until I viewed both of your videos
on walking. Pausing that back heel for just a micro second and letting it propel your other leg forward and as a result engage your glute muscle was the secret for me. Suddenly my pelvis is also moving the way it should and my hip socket isn't jamming into my pelvis on every forward step. It baffles me to think my issue was actually the other leg not extending backward properly and overall poor gait. 'Thank you' barely represents how grateful I am. Now I can enjoy walking again and honestly, enjoy life.

My gait started to naturally correct itself when I started working on my posture. An externally rotated right hip, pronated right foot, weak tibialis/tight calves and a tight/weak thoracic and an overworked lumbar spine had me walking all kinds of f'd up.
I had to learn how to activate my glutes and open my thoracic spine. Walking feels natural now and not like a task.
Protip: invest in some barefoot shoes. The Altra Provision literally changed my life.

Female presenters are straight to the point, and engaging from the beginning. They seem to know what they are talking about.

I walk with my chest concave, shoulders forwards, arms for the most part still at my sides, and pelvis forward. I am a pretty girl, tall and thin... my walk and posture are atrocious. My mother has commented on my walk for years, i was made fun of in high school for it.
I attended modeling school at the age of 15 and was recognized and commended for my ‘run walk walk’ as it was truly good and typical of what you would see on a fashion runway.. however my ‘model walk’ only came to when i was focusing on it. My natural walk is described as above and it embarrasses me daily. I hate that i cant remind myself to walk with poise and femininity on a regular basis.

I've had to relearn how to walk without stumbling over my own feet; the most I've walked for years is from my door to my car; but lately I've been feeling like The Tin Man; "OIL!!" all stiff, joints sounding like a Rice Krispies; I'm walking a bit in the morning, but I came here to learn how I should do it

Can't fault that, based on what I know. Realistically we need to teach people how to breathe, so why not teach them how to walk as well. Very good.

Who are you or anyone else to teach someone how to breath or fix the way they walk?

true, she didn't demonstrate the walk, but I think it was a pretty informative video nonetheless
