- I'm building the 1970's Airfix Bf109 straight from the box with a few upgrades. How long will this take? Don't know? But I'll try and get a video out every week all being well.

Back in the 70s. As a pattern maker I used to make the master models for Airfix.
Happy days indeed.
I would love to see how this was/done. The tooling of these kits (how they fit together at the design stage, the subsequent layout on the sprue, and then the making of the moulds) must be an art in itself.
Blimey... I remember building this as a kid in the 70’s. Don’t recall raised surface detail and sink marks being an issue back then ( but I was only 10 or 11!😂) Brings back happy memories... thanks.
Easily one of the best modellers on CZcams. Been in awe of all your builds lately. Keep them coming !.
Cheers 👍
This kit i made in the early 70's and , after a break of 40 odd years , am going to have a crack again; so pleased to have found you here, my word, modeling has moved on a lot in that time !!😆
I built the same kit in the 70's when I was young, really great stuff for that time...
This is awesome. I have not built anything in 35 years and my model work was rudimentary. However, having a lot of material and design problems in my house (a new house),I taught myself I could do things and was creative so my son and I are now taking up modeling. This is a kit I have and will build. Thanks. Starting today.
Love the detail your putting in Greg , looking forward to the next one . Regards Gav.
I have a Matchbox ME-109 from back in the early 80s at 1/32nd scale. It's a beautiful kit that I wish I had held onto like you did with this kit. It has fantastic detail that I couldn't appreciate at the time at my childhood skill level. I've never seen the kit since but I'd love another crack at it today.
Oh, the memories from > 40 years ago...
Absolutely fantastic work Greg! Also at present I like to build old kits. I remember how I quietly envied this model 40 years ago to my friend. It is a really beautiful model and with your improvements it will be absolutely fantastic model. I look forward to continuing.
That's a great project launch video, Greg.
I built one of these a long time ago I wish I had done the prep you have. I still have the model it is a great model
Wow mate some real modelling going on there. I got myself a Rosie the other month. Just got one for 72nd-48th scale. Haven't used it yet I think I've got an RB productions one to. Fantastic patience and brill work mate
Great job
1\24th BF109 - needs more rivets
1\24th Harrier - needs less rivets
Sort yourselves out Airfix of the 1970's :)))
The Me 109 has just been reissued by Airfix
After the release of the movie Battle of Britain in 1969 Airfix and Revell Spitfires and Messerschmitts were all the rage with modelers into the early 70s (including this one).
I had the Stuka back in the 70s. £6 it was! Those were the days!
Yes I remember the Stuka costing me £7.49 back in 76 👍
Remember getting a choice of this or the stuka for my birthday not a choice really 109 all day did you get the little Adolf galland with the moustache?
I built the Helmut Wick one with the Horrido flash (Airfix got the colour wrong on this model, it should be a blue pennant, not red. I still have half of a Bf109 stuck in a tree at home.
Question: is there such a thing as a Rosie Riveter in 1:24 scale? I see 1:48 and 1:72. Does it really make much difference (dumb novice question)?
I've not seen a 1/24 scale one but on the back of the pack they do show a 1mm option.
I am considering this. I can get it for €60. Worth the money?
The kit is very old, released in 1973, and has been released on and off over the years. Couldn't say what state the parts will be in with the latest offering. But it is the only game in town, for now, that will require a lot of patience.
