detailed look at the power-plays and political machinations that led to the infamous Sheraton Move.
How New Malaysia became the Old Malaysia. Shattered Hopes also exposes Mahathir’s actions in breaching the major election promises made by PH1.0. It also sheds light on his attempts to further curtail the role of the country’s revered hereditary rulers and “Even calling TMJ, Johor’s crown prince, a ‘stupid little boy’,”highlighted Bose.
The book also details Mahathir’s move alongside his Attorney General Tommy Thomas, who allegedly interfere with the appointments of the country’s top judges.
About the Author
Romen Bose is a former international correspondent and currently heads a crisis management and political communications consultancy. Romen served as a Political Communications Consultant for former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak for six years.
Romen was also head of Asian social media intelligence at IHS Markit and worked as a senior foreign correspondent with the French news agency AFP based in Kuala Lumpur.
He was the founding president of the Foreign Correspondents Club of Malaysia and a senior producer with the English service of Al Jazeera International when it opened its regional base in Malaysia. Prior to this, Romen was the Indochina Bureau Chief for Channel News Asia and has also consulted for the United Nations. Romen has also researched and written extensively on the Second World War and its impact on Southeast Asia.

The Sheraton move was masterminded by Mahathir. Because he had no intention at all to hand over the premiership to Anwar.
My views and comments as a Professor in the seventies with thirteen degrees in many fields, and with my close experience from day one when the Reformasi movement was born .
It may be like a revelation for younger people like the host and many younger people.
The motive of the book may look like writing a story but I think it was also to make money form its sale because of the sensational drama.
From my understanding there are many controversial issues, challengeable issues, questionable issues important personalities are missing like Jo Low not seen well in the drama ,after knowing he was the central figure among others
Mahathir family business and its connection to the so-called Mahathirs plot to remove Najib and Anwar . Mega projects which Mahathir wanted for his son was not successful because Najib blocked it.
His Najib not guilty cannot hold water , he is guilty of listening to advisors is illogical, lacks reason and truth.
There are many others which Inam not interested to comment , Having read a thousand books in my in almost all fields , I think it just what he thinks and not the truth. A lot of missing puzzles and not holistic explanations of the events .
This is just my opinion I may not be right. More like a disconnected part of a bigger truthful story. Any way a good attempt , nobody is perfect but a good effort , serious readers need to see the whole big picture and do a reality check and value analysis.

I would agree with almost all the things that was said by Romen. I had been analysing all these happenings, since 2008, when PR broke all their promises when they took over all the 5 states.
I dont support any political party as our analysis would be bias then.

LGE reduced toll by 18% but extended toll concession by a few more decades. Most people I talked to who supported him only mentioned the first part.
The other thing he did was to offload a number of government properties and companies like IHH. Took away subsidiary under Tabung Haji. Also reduced number of stations of LRT and MRT and call it cost cutting.
Other than that, I don't know what else he did. But to be fair, his tenure was short-lived because Mahathir shot himself in the foot.
Also, there wasn't much he could do. He zerorised GST to fulfill election promise and gave tax holiday for 3 months. That also spelled trouble to the government. So... there's that.
In Penang also, not much happening under him apart from giving approval to developers to build more unaffordable homes. I think Chow Kon Yeow does better now. But this guy doesn't see eye to eye with LGE.
