At the dentist, I got the covid temperature check at the door. The assistant asked if i had a fever. I told her i had a fever and the prescription was more cowbell. I just got smiles and blank stares. They thought i was nuts.

I can’t imagine anyone, no matter what age, not getting that reference. I’m 69, my kids are 40 and 32, granddaughters 14 and 16... we all get it.
Christopher Walken is the only actor I can think of who can't disappear into the roles, and is always Walken, and yet I STILL completely believe every character.
You have to write a character specifically for CW and then cast him.

Colonel Angus is a great Walken SNL Skit and was written by the ladies on the show at the time.
We always assume Jimmy is fake laughing but we can’t forget how he’d always break in his SNL days. I think he just laughs easily
I agree! I think he is so genuinely excited and, yes, he laughs so easily it maybe comes off as seeming fake, but I don't think it is. Especially when he has an SNL cast member on he just gets so excited and I really love seeing the back and forth of old friends. It just makes me smile.

When my kids were young we lived in Texas, and when we visited friends and family in the Midwest they most looked forward to the basements because they knew they could go down there and get rowdy (Texas doesn't have basements either). Basements are truly the epitome of luxury to kids. Now we live in Michigan and have a great basement.

Back in community college, a group of friends and I would always put "more cowbell" in the section of the course evaluation form that asked for suggestions of improvement. It's my last semester of university and I'm still doing it!
Most excellent! Every now and then I get a good reaction from some of my students when I quietly mumble at the board, "needs more cowbell" !!!!
That was one of the greatest sketches. Still use More Cow Bell in a lot of situations. Going back East is like going to food festival, Dunkin Donuts, Tim Hortons, Wegman's. Basements are great, they become the playroom when the weather isn't so nice.
Funny how Fallon was just about to say “that was what started it for me, my whole thing...of being known for laughing in every sketch”.
It was what started for him THE CAST knowing he was an easy break and some were trying from then forth-Will in particular-to get Jimmy to break as much as they could. They hazed that poor kid 😂

Classic example of Fallon literally laughing at what was not the punchline at 4:58. I get that it's probably a tic he has, but when you're an interviewer professionally and you do this all the time it's probably warranted criticism.

Basements WERE magical places for west coasters. I spent my summers in Wisconsin and all my relatives had basements and they were amazing.
The story about how the cowbell sketch ruined his life and the waiter saying “would you like more cowbell”? Reminded me of when Arnold Schwarzenegger and his daughter were dining at a fine dining restaurant I worked for in atlanta. I was just bringing out their desserts but after I placed them down I said “I’ll be back…” Arnold smiled at me.
