      Surely the Gauntlet would be designed in such a way that the snap would be taken into account, it was made by Eitri after all. Or maybe Thanos used the reality stone to create a reality where gauntlets can snap.

    If you look at the actual gauntlet, it's metal plate against metal plate, so it could never snap, being as polished as it is. Might be hazardous to my life at that point...

      the snaping technique kyle mentioned is actually wrong, you don't press your middle finger onto oyur thumb off cener, you press onto it straight, then, while your have built up a lot of tension, you move your thumb out of the way, causing your middle finger to slide past it.

    Well Thanos is using all 6 Infinity Stones to execute the snap, right? He could use the Reality Stone to change the material of the specific finger and palm areas of the gauntlet to make them more like fingers, the Power Stone to create more friction to make the snap louder, the Mind Stone to make every living being perceive the snap at once in their minds, the Soul Stone to evaluate the beings' character and make a random decision on whether to dustify or not, the Space Stone to enhance the snap signal out to the entire universe, and the Time Stone to create the long delay for some beings to turn to dust, like shown in the movie.

      Not bad but I think you made a little mistake here :)
      Since the Gauntlet can hold all 6 Stones, I'm not sure that "one" stone can affect it in any given way. (Yeah we see it got damaged by the end, but all stones were used at the same time and for a really big "attack" on everthing.
      And the most problematic thing is, that I don't think the Soul Stone could dust you appart, it seems more like the Reallity Stones power that did that.

More powerful uses allow one to create any type of alternate reality one wishes. At its peak when backed by the other gems it allows one to alter reality on a universal scale.

      ...Except not, because bowstrings can and will rip your fingertips off, so you absolutely want to have gloves on, and crossbow triggering mechanisms are more like large levers that don't require a tremendous amount of manual dexterity to operate, so there's no reason not to have gloves on. Unless you're planning on like... writing your reports or something in full armor, there's no reason for that; and even then, the stupid glove comes off.

      ilovethelegend Yeah, sure, because all Olympic archers wear gloves.

    • @ilovethelegend
      @ilovethelegend Před 6 lety +19

      Disregarding the fact that target shooting is an entirely different beast from combat archery, they do, actually. Target archers use a special kind of glove that only covers the tips of their index, middle, and ring fingers, because a bowstring can and will rip the skin from your fingertips. If they're not wearing a glove, it's because either they're using a trigger release, which is basically a pistol trigger attached to a little catch that holds the bowstring, or their strings have tabs on them, which are those little pieces of plastic on the rental bows at your local range.
      These pieces of equipment are, indeed, made the way they are to protect the archer while reducing their manual dexterity as little as possible, which is super important in the context of target shooting. But, like I said, target shooting and combat archery are different beasts. A combat archer's concern is putting as many arrows in the general area of the enemy army as possible, the idea being that they can't dodge the rain. In that context, a plain glove would be cheaper and easier to outfit a platoon with than specialized equipment that they don't really need.

      Kyle, I feel like you addressed only half the equation. The gauntlet. The other half would be the person wearing the gauntlet. Thanos is a big guy, and I would assume his hand whether in a gauntlet or not would produce much more force than a human can when snapping. Would additional force therefore produce enough audible friction and audible impact on the palm to produce the “snapping sound” all other things being equal? (No bending of physics, reality, space, time etc)

      You misinterpreted my argument. My point was Thanos is so strong that if he did snap his fingers in a gauntlet the metal would probably act like a very thin layer of rubbery material over his hard near impenetrable skin, muscle and bones... some what parallel to a very strong adult human snapping their fingers in a latex glove... the material wouldn’t really affect the resulting “SNAP”/“CLICK” sound...
      For example imagine Thanos’s middle finger and thumb pressed together with a vice like pressure of maybe 2-3 tonnes..... then being hammered down with a force of 3000n on the palm area of the gauntlet using the torque of maybe a Bugatti Vyrone (1500hp) rubbing against the fingers during the action... all of which done at super human speed (let’s say his brain can process fast enough and send signals fast enough to his fingers to make the movement get to around Mack 3 in maybe 10 nano seconds).... the sound would be phenomenally loud (with a sonic-boom shockwave type) “SNAP!!”/“CLICK” Noise.... I mean he would probably ruin the finger/thumb tips and palm area of the gauntlet in the process but it would create an ear shattering “SNAP”/“CLICK” sound

    • @ethandonnelly1973
      @ethandonnelly1973 Před 6 lety +8

      Intellect123 But thats not how sound works.
      You hear a snap or click because the source of that sound holds a certain.....I hesitate to use density but I'm not fully sure which of the terms applies here.
      The density of the material used for the finger snap, your skin and muscles, determines that high pitched sound.
      A metal gauntlet used as you described is likely to screech as the fingers slide and then make highly metallic click, or just a hollow metal ping.
      A metal gauntlet isn't gonna make a human finger click.....sigh, "because science"
      Literally couldn't avoid that reference if I wanted to.
      The motion could be done if the gauntlet allows for it but the sound won't be the same basically, it just can't happen.

    at the same time wouldn't a metal on metal 'snap' if it was possible with the infinity gauntlet be louder and carry more force? its metal, but its made for a giant, so with enough engineering to allow just enough articulation, all you need is that simple movement against the palm of metal and enough force to create a sound (while not sounding like human flesh and bone) that would be even louder than a normal snap. If the glove was made for that specific movement and that tone to be made, it would probably even ring in your ears if you were part of the half that survives. Just imagine a giant with 10x the strength of a power lifter using a metal glove to snap with all their might. it would be like banging a hammer on your washing machine as hard as you can but more like the hammer of a gun going down on a shell casing.

    What would happen of the flash snapped his fingers at his top speed?
    MatPat calculated that flashes top speed is 9 trillion times the speed of light, so using that and F=ma you get 22.332 N (5.868e+14[speed of light times 9 trillion]×0.1), and J=D×F 155.431 joules of energy (22.332N×6.96cm[distance of thumb]), converted to Watts, and counting that its in 9 trillion times light speed because Watts are measured in joules per second, you get about 21600 megawatt hours or enough to power 2 New York's dialy, with one second of snapping. So the flash is wasting his time stopping bad guys, about 8 minutes could power America daily, and about and little under an hour of snapping and he could power the whole world daily, all he needs to do is get Cisco to hook him up with snapping energy absorption gloves or somthing, and he will save more lives than before.

    • @ProfessorChops
      @ProfessorChops Před 6 lety +11

      Nate Von Hagen he does output enough energy to power the entire country but that energy isn't just put into batteries and used when needed. The power companies have to keep a steady flow of power going at all times and since it takes time to ramp up energy production they also have to predict when more power is needed and start increasing their power output to meet that expected need. It's a little bit more complicated than most people think it is.

    There is a type of shrimp that emits jets of water at high velocity suddenly through the air and move their claws along with it to make it appear that they are snapping, could thanos be doing the same thing? We see him make bubbles to starlords guns, could he just be doing it at such a fast rate, maybe using the reality stone, that it appears to be a snap. Could the bubble be released through out space, which is really what causes the dust, bubbles ripping through people at a Ludacris speed, like a deathly bubble gun.

    • @FreedomAnderson

    • @JfkNeedsWindWall
      @JfkNeedsWindWall Před 6 lety +1

      Nate Von Hagen a snap is both a sound, purse clamp, and an action with your fingers. By creating a large enough force between his fingers(he is stronger than the hulk) he could simply create the crackling sound in an air wave without needing palm contact.

    • @linhorne2962
      @linhorne2962 Před 6 lety +4

      The bubbles you're thinking of aren't technically created by the shrimp in question, per se, but actually a secondary result of displaced water rushing back in on itself when a vacuum is created. Thus, Thanos wouldn't be creating bubbles like he did with Star Lord's gun, which are a liquid surrounding a gas, but he could potentially build enough pressure and potential energy up through friction to eventually move so violently that the displacement of air and subsequent vacuum would create a popping bubble effect just like those shrimp, but with the air instead of the water.
      If you define a snap as a building of tension and then a release, with that release causing a sound, then I think that shrimp's punching motion more or less counts. After all, if something like a rope snaps, it's the sound of the tension being released that gives the 'snap' its name. In the same vein, I think any sound made by finger motions in a gauntlet that relate to a build of friction and pressure followed by a release and sound would count as a snap.
      After all, if you saw a guy do the finger-snappy motion and heard a sound, you'd say he snapped his fingers, right?

    • @sharktamer7306
      @sharktamer7306 Před 6 lety +2

      Nate Von Hagen
      So, to answer your question, let’s assume the bubbles will be 1 centimeter in diameter and weigh 780 micrograms(these are the only available numbers online). We will need to go through both skin and bone for this, so I’ll use the average amount of pressure it takes to pierce/break bone. It takes around 25 psi or 172.369 kilopascals(ignoring angles and a lot of other variables) to cleanly break a bone. Pressure equals force over area(P=F/A). We can put in 172,369 for P(pressure usually uses pascals) and 0.0157 for A(area usually uses meters). We then do 172,369*.0157 to get 2,706.1933 newtons. That gives us an acceleration of 3,469,478.58974359976 kilometers per second. This is 11.572934865971845397 times faster than the speed of light. Using the reality stone, this speed could be achieved. In conclusion, Thanos’ Bubble Gun of Death would be ridiculously deadly and terrifying.
