No offense but his list does not cover a lot of ground in terms of different genre's and a very small window in terms of the years the records were made. Very far from obscure as well. IMHO of course. In all fairness for me it would be impossible to name 20 favorite albums because most of us go through phases and what might be a favorite today may not be tomorrow. Don't limit yourself to a couple styles of music! Lots of great music out there and most of it was never got the radio airplay it deserved!

But the rest I dislike, surprised not to see Pink FLoyd or a Queen - not that Pete loves them just that everyone overrated them. The best bands are Neil Young, Buffalo Springfield, very early Elvis Costello , Graham Parker and the Rumor, The Smith, The Replacements, the Kinks, The Beatles but not their last two bloated records that everyone loves, Hendrix, The Yardbirds, Love with Arthur Lee, The Move (became ELO but harder rockin). Rush is maybe the worst of the bands.I know they have talent, just annoying.

Probably "Shoot Shoot" and "Mystery" is metal then. He was an excellent musician but when it comes to opinions, he is one of us. It is an interesting view though. It was Dio's first album with a proper band, so it meant a lot to him.

All the other stuff is great but your friends were jealous not angry because you developed good taste and they didn't understand it yet. Music is meant to take you wherever you want it to take you and I was glad I kept an open mind or I would have never experienced all the different flavors of rock, metal, blues, jazz, classical and everything in between the cracks that could be hard to find but when you open your mind and Branch out you will find everything you have been looking for and sometimes a little extra. I love rock music but I like Chicago, Traffic, Steely Dan, C.S.N.& Y. , Allman Brothers, Skynyrd, Eagles, etc.
There's so much good stuff that people will question if you forgot where you came from, all you forgot to do was open the window a little wider and let everything in. I used to listen to just what everyone else did until my older brother showed me that good music is endless and it just keeps getting better all the time. Keep on searching and you will like what you find, peace ! 🎸

We have at least one LP in common!! But it’s hard as you say to list a top 20, my list is more based on maybe having just one or two classic songs on an album, if we’re honest there aren’t many albums where we like all the tracks! That’s why I always prefer live albums, where most of the time the artist picks the best of their catalogue...
    In no particular order...
Scorpions - Love ar First Sting
    Yes - The Yes Album
Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell
    Rainbow - Rising
Alice Cooper - Billion Dollar Babies
Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin II
    Foreigner - 4
    Deep Purple - Burn
    The Who - Who’s Next
    Motörhead - Overkill
    Lynyrd Skynyrd - Pronounced Len-nerd Skin-nerd
    UFO - Phenomemon
    Journey - Escape
    Blackfoot - Strikes
    Rush - 2112
    Van Halen - Van Halen
    Frank Zappa - Sheikh Yerbouti

@@ACoincidentalLife I actually only finally got Sabotage a few weeks ago. I had everything by Sabbath from the debut to Eternal Idol except for Technical Ecstasy and Sabotage back in the 80s. Now at last I have it!

Volume 4 was first Sabbath album I listened to. Checked it out of puplic library and was blown away. Sabotage might be #2 for me.
