Read the Constitution, it lays out what the president can do. The Supreme Court's ruling does not permit the President to commit murder, it does not permit him to rob a bank, it does not permit him to commit arson. But it does grant limited power in the execution of the office.

Why does he need protection that others haven't had? Because other Presidents didn't have the other party indict and bring somebody to trial for act while in office.
This ruling confirms that Presidents have legal rights to act in a proper way in a governmental setting.
Think about it this way, if a President could have charges brought for everything and anything, Obama would be in jail. He ordered drone strikes that killed civilians, ran guns to Mexico, and murdered Bin Laden. Of course he should be and is immune from prosecution.

Your hand-wringing ignorance is appalling. Nixon had immunity for official acts, not for unofficial acts. The Court clarified the law and how to distinguish between official and unofficial acts and asked the lower court to rule accordingly. Quit acting like some sea-change in the law just occurred. Biden is immune from prosecution for allowing an invasion of the U.S. but he’s not immune for participating in corrupt schemes to enrich his family.

@@monikamorandi2862 Ironically, you pose the question of why should we want a king, and yet I will point out two things that will bite you from your own statement. #1, At his inauguration, then as now, selected voices of the agitators bemoaned the electoral college's roll in electing the President. George Washington cautioned our fledgling nation of the dangers of electing our President by a simple popular vote, and the odds that a wildly popular President voted into office by a simple majority of the electorate could lead this country to a leader akin to the monarchy that this nation had just broken free from.
Ironically, after Biden's supposed trouncing of Trump in 2020 gave him the highest voter turn out and of that, a supposed 81 million votes. The highest number in the history of any election. They beat that drum for the first half of the Biden Presidency. Throw in all of those "Executive Orders" that Biden signed out of the gate attempting to undo Trump's legacy, totally bypassing the Senate and the House, all of that and who's administration looked more like a monarchy? The Biden administration by far.
And given Biden's weaponization of the justice department against his political rivals, who looks more like a king, waving his scepter and banishing his rivals to prison (the dungeon)?
I will acknowledge this, if Trump turn's out to be a monster in his second term, I would lay all of the blame on the Democrats, Liberals, & Progressives, who launched a full scale attack on his Presidency in 2016, before he was even declared the winner! I would lay the blame on 3 meritless impeachment proceedings. I would lay the blame on the members of the media who assailed his character, calling him a rapist when he hasn't been adjudicated of such (Civil proceedings have a far more lax standard of evidence and proof than does a Criminal trial).
Lastly, I would lay the blame on those in power in the Democrat party who refused to do the people's business from 2017-2021, all in the hopes of making Donald J. Trump a lame duck President.

@lorrieshearer3810 the Supreme Court doesn't make laws. They judge if laws or actions are constitutional, especially in regards to the actions of the government (the constitution being the ultimate law of the land). If you have doubts if they are judged correctly. I suggest that you study the constitution yourself. It's very important not to take anyone's word for it. I personally believe they did their job. I have read and studied the constitution many times. Perhaps reevaluate the information you're viewing, ensuring it is non biased source.

One of those duties is to operate the united states military, meaning that the president could order the US military to exterminate the entirety of Texas, and the president themselves would be found immune to all criminal charges that would result.
let me repeat, any president who exterminated an entire US states population would be found immune as long as he was ordering the US military to conduct the operation as that is a core duty of the executive branch.
