- With the Supreme Court set to rule on presidential immunity, CBS News legal correspondent Jan Crawford says that she foresees "zero chance that they're going to embrace Donald Trump's argument that he has absolutely immunity." CBS News chief Washington correspondent Major Garrett adds that depending on the outcome of the Supreme Court decision, special counsel Jack Smith will have to decide if he will try the former president ahead of the November election, which could be "the most consequential prosecutorial decision in the history of the country."

If this isn’t political, why is it important to have the trial before the election? Asking for a friend.

The country needs to know if the candidates, plural, have committed crimes so that they can make an informed decision in how they vote. But, because it doesn't matter which parties candidate(s) are indicted for crimes, it isn't political. It only seems to be in this case because only one candidate has committed indictable crimes that it seems political. That's on tRump, not the law and our legal system. Perhaps tRump shouldn't have sexually assaulted women, and maybe he shouldn't have committed election fraud by his attempts at hiding what he did with Stormy Daniels by illegally using campaign funds. It remains to be seen if he is guilty for numerous other crimes, but the crimes he's headed to court are so egregious and so potentially damaging to the security of our nation, there is no way that these trials can wait. I'm just curious what new delaying tactics our current corrupt supreme court comes up with to shield Donald from responsibility yet again. I guarantee they will come up with something. When you're a crook like tRump, your only play is delay, delay, delay. And, if there was any integrity on the part of the justices that were placed in office by tRump, they would have recused themselves. But there isn't any and so we will continue to see crimes being allowed by the supreme court. It is truly disgusting.

Yes but IF a president does something wrong during their term, there is a process to hold them responsible. You impeach them, find them guilty, remove them from office and then prosecute them criminally. They DID impeach Trump for J6 and he was ACQUITTED! You cannot go at him again on those charges. If this is allowed, every ambitious DA in the country would be indicting presidents for any act they didn't like politically when they leave office.

World Bank statement stated The US economy is the envy of the world and has actually helped stabilized the world economy. Loest unemployment in over 50 years and over 15 million jobs added. Keep in mind it was Trump who LOST 3 million jobs and tanked the economy with an unemployment rate of 14%. Biden has kept unemployment at 4% or lower for his entire term. Trump's inflation when he left office was 9%...It is now 3% under Biden.
