Fuck it I’m just gonna continue this here. New Super Mario Bros. Wii is one of my favorite games of all time, but the level design gets a bit empty and uninspired at the first half of it.
SMG music is great, have the most unique boss fights, also SMG soundtrack is a banger, Odyssey is great, have great open worlds, it has a ton of collectibles, so you can always get something extra replaying it, but some of the bosses are kinda basic compared to SMG, and for me, I kinda have some bias over SMG music, for me, the only Odyssey song I can remember is Jump Up, Super Star, but Odssey is good, SM64 is also great, cool music and it's the source of many iconic soundtracks, of course it have less stuff than Galaxy or Odyssey, because it's the first 3d mario game, and the N64 doesn't have a hardware as powerful as the Wii or Switch, but is a great game, NSMBWii is good, and great for multiplayer, but NSMBWii started the recycling of the NSMB series, and if you can't find someone to play it with you, it's a very lonely experience, the original SMB is basically good for only replaying sometimes, after tons of replaying, it gets boring as much as SEGA recycling Green Hill Zone in Sonic Games, and then you have Mario Party Superstars, it's a party game, what do you expect?
And then there is me, whose favorite game in the mainline Mario series is Super Mario Sunshine lol What really makes that game so awesome to me is the interconnectivity of all the worlds on Isle Delfino. All of the worlds being cohesive combined with all the locals filling up the world (all of which talk about new things with every single level) really made the worlds feel real and alive. What makes the game feel great coming back to it even now is the complexity of Mario's movement, with the only Mario game coming close to it is Super Mario Odyssey (which is very close). You can pull off some awesome stunts in Mario Sunshine that can't be pulled off in other games because Mario doesn't have as many moves (2D Mario) or Mario doesn't have the quick movement speed (Mario Galaxy). But I do agree with all of your analysis of every game that you mentioned. And I am not asserting that Sunshine is objectively the best, but these are the reasons that it sticks out for me.
