as an ex combat veteran I would use that blade in a heart beat in xombat and did use something similar on deployment but most guys in my unit we all carried more then one blade with us as we all carried at least 1 folder blade and one fixed blade minimum. me personally I carried 3 types of blades one on my plate carrier one on my belt and a folder in my pocket as well.
GARBAGE heat treatment. I put a chip the size of a guitar pick in the full size "commando" model just limbing a small tree, I've never seen a chip that bad in 20 years of using hundreds of knives and tools.
You talking about a USMC? Likey the real damage occured in some other prior activities... It manifested (finished linking a line of carbides) limbing... I have beat the absolute piss out of my BK2, wailing on limbs... No chipping. Opened tin cans a couple times... Nada. Rowan may have a slightly better heat treat, but KBar's isn't crap. IMO
@@user-gw6gj3is1j No, the Kabar John Ek Commando knife, the larger one in the same series as the knife in this video. The classic USMCs are totally different. They're made of 52100 steel (which Kabar refers to with the tradename "1095 cro-van") and I've never had an issue with them aside from not really trusting the tang design and not having a lanyard hole.

@@ElektroMoog No idea. I wouldn't buy another one and find out the hard way. I have way better knives in the category. Cold Steel Drop Forged Survivalist has been my #1 combat/survival knife for three years and I don't think there is anything better on the market at all.
