I find those reflections giving me some very nice natural feel in my photos, shooting with a circular polarizer is like putting my highlights to 0 in Lightroom. But I see how it can work great
It is super helpful when it comes to automotive photography.
It's definitely a creative choice!
@@AnthonyGugliotta Which camera you use brother ? Would you recommend a best camera to me? Below 2000 dollars. Sony A73 is stuck in my mind but not sure about the best other alternatives. Would you please advise me?
agree
Sometimes "natural" isn't what you're going for.
at first my artist brain was like "damn this shit makes the photos worse" then you put up the last photos and i was convinced
it's very useful for landscape photography as another area and even just to act as an ND filter as you can then peer underwater which can help setup leading lines if there are some nice boulders, and well... it's dark so it doubles as an ND if you rotate it somewhat to keep the reflections (which is useful if you want to do longer exposures in bright scenes without having to stop completely down)
I forgot all about neutral density filters! (Used to have set of 3 for my SLR.) But with the increase of aperture sizes and shutter speeds on DSLRs, they're not needed as frequently. But it would be fun to mess around with them again.
its really good for 3d art
like every tool on planet earth, its situational.
@@lubbyLBmy thoughts exactly
I’ve never thought of using this for portraits. Definitely going to give it a shot. I usually only use it for car shoots.
Came to say the same thing, but it’s got a great use case on sunny day portraits!!
for a good reason, beause it does not work
Most CP filters have color cast/shifting and increase the saturation, but not equally throughout the color spectrum. bad things for portraits.
“FUR-tography.” ❤😂
Looks like matte makeup! Wow! 😊
Most lens filters do what other lense filters can't. That's why there are different lens filters.
Chill, my man wanted some easy views and got them thanks to the clickbait title. It's basic social media marketing.
No shit Sherlock
@@ptm3993 Thank you for pointing out the fact that I was pointing out the obvious point that he made, which is used for all types of camera lenses.
Finnally an edible comments 😌
*lens
for portrait, I kinda like the reflection on the face, makes it more natural, without looks weird...
Honestly I like the reflection on human faces it makes it feel more natural
These are also great for videography. With a variable CPL you can gradually shift from one phase to the next, so the audience can watch the reflections disappear in real time. It's great for things like revealing the driver of a car, for example.
Subject is beautiful ❤️😌
Which one of them, exactly?
Fantastic content!
everything looks matte
A few caveats with CPL filters. Works best on non-metalic objects and it also strongest when the main light is at 90 degrees from the view.
The physics behind polarising filters is fascinating
The matte-ifier
No that's so freaking cold
I might have to finally try one.
Polarisers aren’t great for portraits as contrasting lighting sometimes brings out the best especially in the first few photos. I agree for the landscape and product photography tho
My favourite lens filter
Polarization are nothing new though, theyre also pretty cheap, it would mainly be used to remove glare not so much "reflections" Due to how polarisation works the amount will change depending on how it's angled too. This is why they are often round and can slide unlike most square ND filters.
I love what polarizers do too skies!
For my low-end Nikon DSLR (that I never use but want to start using again now it's beginning of 2023), I had bought polarizing filters for all my lenses. For some reason, I think "outdoors" or "skies" for use of a polarizer. Going to try it on portraits. Sounds like an excellent idea (of which, if I ever knew before, I obviously forgot).
I have one for my Nikon D40.
If you have a circular vnd, there's no need to purchase an additional cpl. Just rotate the whole thing, not just the front layer, and see it works.
Polarization of light is such a cool comcept
Taking the picture of sun with that lens on 💥
I don't know what will happen, but please do not photograph the sun head-on with a camera that's important to you!
@@-wingsofwasp- Would need an ND filter of 100k or higher. Just to even see the sun. Anything lower and it's too much light coming through.
'This lens filter does something no other filter can do'
Lens fiter: light polarization
I find those reflections natural.
And the sky’s much bluer.
Looks super useful for landscape
It is really good at making clouds stand out and darkening sky a bit plus cutting down reflections on water. I always wear polarized sunglasses so I was aware of the effects it can do.
The name of the lens filter?
Never thought of using a CPL for portrait photography, I'll definitely try it!
Yeah, not much talked about, but it can be really nice. I do street interview headshots. Very helpful.
Very true, thanks for sharing!
Works well on all types of furtography
The most common of filters. Nice video.
For street photos, its the difference between seeing reflections in windows or through them.
For those wondering, if you get creative, you can use a pair of 3D glasses from a cinema as one of these filters. You may see best results from something like a smartphone as the lens + sensor is small and is easy to cover entirely.
Probably the best(and shortest) illustration I’ve seen on the subject
Useful but Only reduces non-metallic glare.
Interesting and important.
Polarizing lens are also good for removing the glare when looking through glass.
That’s help explain the power and impact of lens filters sooooo easily 👌 Cheers!
I need to know where this lens filter is right now! Please someone tell me where and how much it is??
I love my CPL!
I like the portraits without the filters but with the other photos I get it
I really just thought literal rocks
You should make a video trying film photography
Looks like it would be better for product and car photography
Remember, polarizing filters eliminate certain pattern photons (alignment issues) so you’ll need to increase exposure times.
It’s really cool to have a choice between reflections and non
The reflections actually look better🙈
That's cool 😎 Polarized Filter 🎉
Finally some one explain things right
Whats the difference between a circular polarizer and polarizer?
They are actually quite common in photography.
I’m sure it has its uses, but I genuinely preferred the unfiltered pictures you showcased.
More life, more vibrant. Less… well, dull.
I badly need 😫 a dslr for astrophotography ❤️
Photoscanning gonna be good with this
I always thought that how do they get rid of the reflections...now I know. thanx
That's really cool!
Me watching this short in 240p:what filter
magic
Haven’t seen anyone using polarized filter on portraits. I like it
Very important for oily people
Dude, filters like this one have been around since before you were born.
I was blown away to see the results using polarizer but for some reason, the subjects especially people appeared quite 3d generated. They seemed to lack that naturalness that comes from brightness contrast across different parts of the face.
Mix that with a polarized light source and you erase all reflections....except metallic of course.
Cool filter
When I read the title, I expected the lens to remove any rocks from the image. Not disappointed tough
It’s what I used for my tattoos to remove all the glares and show the tattoo better.
It's kind of magic.
thanks for the content, it helps me learn about photography.
Great for skies too. So many cool things you can do today with digital photography including post.
Damn they need to sell shades with these circular polarizer
It just turns worlds rtx off
Although I don't think it works for human subjects what it does with landscapes and inanimate objects is pretty stunning
Thank you for the information 🙏
I needed it
A pretty dumb question I'm asking but is it possible to just put a lens filter in front of a webcam to get a similar result?
i picked up a variable ND filter with polarizer from neewer a few days ago and have had great results (not because of of this video but figure i’d mention)
It's used for landscape primarily, very rarely for portrait.
Instantly makes your images look like a commercial
I’ve wanted to get one of these filters for like 10 years but just never followed through. They make clouds look AMAZING!
The pics without the filter look better🤣
Photo looks better without the filter. The natural lights give a nice natural feel to the photo.
“subject” is crazy 😭
I need to see more of this kind of contents
That filter would be perfect for photogrammetry.
Need a lens filter for my eye.
I'm not a photographer but I actually liked the photos taken without the filter on darker skin tone. Without the glare, it looked so flat.
That is so weird how it doesn’t also darken everything else. Just removed the specular, not the diffuse
In short it looks like every ultra realistic PS5 cinematic game trailer graphics where every character has smooth butter skin like baby's bottom.
ok, so this filter does what every other polarizing filter does.
Brendon Small
might really like this
I definitely like the photos without the filter
So if the lens filter removes reflections from objects, what would happen if you took a picture of a mirror with it
yea this filter is cool and is used in the robotics for better object detection or to see in and under water.
It's like switching to Very low settings from Ultra
I personally think in a lot of applications the reflections add to a picture but I could see situations where you wouldn’t want glare
Bro just went into the game settinga
I couldn't even tell the difference between the two lenses
huh, that's pretty neat
I guess it’s good for product photography, but messes with the contrast a lot, so I’m not sure about the portraits
It is also amazing for making pictures from a fish in the water 🐳
