yes tyler could have gone for a win on his turn. he put me on having removal so instead decided to try to kill me, and set up a win for the following turn.
"vampiric tutor?"
"Tyler?"
"I'm in mono red"
And then he has the counterspell XD
Tyler is an interesting energy at the table. We all know about trickery... we play cedh bro. And simian spirit guide is a regular in the format. I thought that was a bit of a cutthroat move. Followed by "a pretty bad dockside." Not to mention, goblin engineer is a may... Funny stuff
@@prinsepe87 right? Like mono red literally has counter spells
"We know how these decks work"
Five minutes later...
"I didn't resolve the trigger that puts the game winning combo piece into my graveyard."
That was a sweet pod! Loved seeing Gadrak in cedh! Best part of Sundays is definitely new Play to Win Videos
gadrak is actually nuts in the jeska/dargo list, really cool tech
Deck tech ?
Gadrak is very underrated
This is it, this is the video that pushes me to finally build a CEDH deck, and it's going to be freakin' mono red
That was a really cool brew with the mono red deck. Tyler is an amazing player. You're all amazing players! Good video guys! Keep up the good work!
I didn’t realize you all were back in person, so I lost it when Cameron reached across the table to Tyler
I love how mono-red has just popped off in the last year or so. Obviously it had Godo, and a handful of good not-quite-cEDH-but-still-pretty-high-power commanders before, but now it feels like it just has all sorts of new and interesting tools.
"Let it be known that mono-red saved the day for once"
- Tyler, 2021
games like these are the reason I love cedh. keep up the awesome content guys, its the best on the platform by far!
Great episode! One of my favorites yet.
I can't believe it...all this time I thought I was subscribed but I wasn't....I definitely am now, absolutely love your content!!
This is probably my favorite game I've watched you guys play!
I’m so glad that I got to see an episode before my grad party! Really made my morning
Hell yeah a play to win video to start my morning! Y’all rock
Love this game! That Jeska Gadrak synergy was spicy
i repeat myself, i cant help myself w/ that, i just love your energy and your crazy and fun commentary
the mono red dargo, jeska partner is lit. i think instead of using 0, Tyler could have just sent jeska back to the command zone by down ticking in order to win that turn but I'm not completely sure and I could have missed something.
Im thinking the same thing. there doesnt seem to be any reason why he would need to target the dargo with jeska. Seems like he had more than enough mana available betwwen lands, treasures and altar sacs to ping with jeska, swap the altar with engineer, loop dargo and cast jeska again for the win. cant see if ive missed something either.
@@kalebpenno2632 i guess it was a misplay perhaps. i'm still open to hear explanations though.
He thought I might have removal for the alter. If I do, he can’t go for win so he decided to try to kill me instead to bait something out and set up for next turn
@@PlaytoWinMTG appreciate the explanation. thoracle is the best in the meta, but I also appreciate you guys doing games with alternate combo wins.
So many thoughts on this game but holy shit Tyler’s win jam that wasn’t had me very intrigued about playing mono red more than I already am! Using hanweir battlements to give engineer haste to immediately cheat the phyrexian altar into place and then go off was great and then using Tibalts Trickery to stop Cameron was even better because like you said Dylan, it’s already resolved so hitting a free counter off the top goes nowhere so nice!
As always, loved the cursed intro, definitely loved the gameplay!
great to see em back :)
Nates playmat artwork is freaking awesome. 😂
I see nath I click video.
That's the best example why i love cedh, because its like everyone is pointing guns at each other and the first one, who trys to pull the trigger will be shot by the other ones. xD
Great game guys :) love the cannel
that tibalt's trickery was SPICY and that sass was SPICIER
Even if they disrupt chain of smog you can copy it one more time to make someone else discard 2. Also I love all of these personal decks.
Great as always!
Snapping cards on the playmate is just what I need Sunday morning.
Loved the music!!
lets go trickery. i knew when it was spoiled that that card is amazing in commander throughout the power levels.
also that drago infinite produced such a weird amount of infinite you really don't see that often. its is infinite and you have infinite treasures,
BUT you always have halve the treasures than dragos mana cost because you only gain 1 treasure and drago cost 2 more per sac,
BUT he also gets reduced by 2 per treasure sacced so he actually costs nothing and you end up with infinite red that you have to produce to cast him but also don't need for his casting cost and even if you use up those treasures otherwise and in a later turn decided to cast him he still costs 0 if you use all treasures because you can just use an undetermined amount of the red mana you gain to fill the gap and still end up with infinite leftover. and thats why infinity is not a number, it just breaks math.
That's not really how the loop works. Drago costs two less per creature sacrificed this turn, and phyrexian alter produes one red. So when you sac Drago to alter, you can recast him, with the red from alter. The treasures are not created before the end of the turn, from the gadrak trigger.
@@eliaskjr-westermann2082 i was talking about casting him another turn. the treasures you get are half his casting cost but if used reduce his casting cost by 2 and produce mana. so even if he costs infinite the next time you cast him you could pay the cost if you use all treasures but you don't need to us the mana of the treasures.
@@esrohm6460 I disagree. For one there is no such thing as infinite in magic, since you have to pick a number. Even disregarding that you can just crack the treasures beforehand, reducing the cost and floating the mana, essentially having each treasure paying for three mana, thus only needing to crack 2/3 of the treasures.
Maybe I'm missing a line but, wouldn't putting squee on top with revival in response to the tutor be better?
jeska/dargo? that's wild, I love it
More Nath content! keep playing this deck
"For once mono red saves the day" that's why I love tibalt's trickery.
I love that Tyler gets upset but is also low key impressed. Great player
Tibalt's Trickery is funny when used against the player who has Rule of Law effect in play.
You guys are fantastic. I'd love to play with y'all some day
Just found your channel and I'm hooked. I'd love to see a Tasigur deck featured.
"I'm a simple man. I see a Tasigur cedh video, I click" - Someone on reddit
I've been playing a lil jeska/dargo myself lately. was bummed to see tyler throw at about 6:00 when he used the 0 ability of jeska instead of sending her back to the zone with a -1. he would have had the 5 mana to recast her after looping dargo with alter. i found myself in the same scenario before. the deck is much harder to play than people realize. the math involved in dargo's cost is complicated because it creates a ton of variations in your lines that you have to calculate before you just start throwing away resources. great game =] i lub dis channel
I would not have had the 5 mana until the end step at which point I could not have cast the jeska. Or am I missing something ?
How are you using first slivers cascade to cast oracle and Demonic consultation? oracles ability is on the stack, but you cant cast first sliver at instant speed?
I mean from that point, you have tonnes of ways to win So all good. Big fan of tfs playing it myself so love to see it regularly!
FOOD CHAIN!!! Back at it again.
dylans turn 1 was so lovely
Jeska/Dargo is so sweet, let's here it for trickery!
" Food chain try to win. Food chain try to win again. Food chain try to win again," My God y'all are such treasures.
How does he infinite cascade for thassa oracle and consultation with instant speed
I have rebuilt my old Black/Green Rat 60 card deck into a Black/Green Squirrel Commander Deck that focuses on my gaining life, while taking life from my opponents.
I'm still fairly new to Commander. this is only my second custom commander deck (i cheated and used a Pre-con to get used to the new-to-me system)
Practice matches against my Pre-con went well.
Old Stick Fingers, while no the Commander, is a feature in the deck. Pairing him with a card that sacrifices a creature to do direct damage to each opponent, while giving me life (and thus dealing more direct damage), and a huge land cycling factor...8 turns on the first practice. 3 turns on the second. 11 on the third.
Hoping to try it out against my group soon.
they might hate me, given the sheer amount of 'target opponent discards/exiles/sacrifices creature and takes X damage'.
My counter ability isnt great, but i have several instants that prevent other cards from being added to the stack once they are in play.
Tibalt's Trickery is absolutely the real deal. Love that card.
When "witherspoon" apprentice got destroyed with the chain of smog on the stack you should have copied it again to target an opponent since you still had that one last copy that targeted you on the stack.
I want nate’s playmat it amazing
Love the game! One thing, when witherspoon (lol) gets killed you should have sent the copy towards another player and make a possible huge chain reaction of discarda
If I do that he doesn’t have to kill my thing, my chain will just stop
@@PlaytoWinMTG I meant in response to him killing it, you copy it again but target someone else (cam for example) and That player will for sure target someone else and basically hellbent everyone
Cam, maybe you answered this already, but is there a reason you waited for the Vamp Tutor to resolve to cast your Noxious Revival? Seems to me that having Squee randomly shuffled is better than having him have it on top? Or not? Maybe you wanted to guarantee a "dead" draw by putting Squee on top?
Awesome content as always!
Does Tyler run walking ballista or aetherflux because he had unlimited treasures and an untapped inventors fair
I think we've noticed that it's inevitable for cam to tainted pact after a labman. Take notes dylan and co. ;). Keep up the awesome vids
Did Jeska Dargo miss a win here? -X the Jeska rather than 0 it, then you have enough mana from treasures / phyrexian altar to recast Jeska once the loop is done
I have gone back in time to watch your video and request that you play a "best Enchantress deck in cEDH" video. One of these days you'll do it, Skynet be darned!
Oh baby a mono red list I enjoy
Here we go again!
Fun game guys
You can’t actually cascade into oracle + consultation combo can you? Because the Oracle combo relies on holding prio to consultation. How do you instant speed it? Obviously inf creature mana wins regardless, just curious. Sweet video!
Ya that’s messy short hand. Really what he is doing is casting lab mana consult cantrip or something like that
Man you guys gotta let us know your back ground music.
So do you guys sell the play to win sleeves?
Currently sold out
can you explain why you can finish the food chain combo with oracle pls. yeah you can cast any spell that costs less than five in any order but you can't cast consult first because then the library would be gone and if you oracle first how do you consult with the trigger still on the stack? you can't cast first sliver instant speed. what am i missing?
He said Thassa but show and mean maniac first in the field before casting consultation.
You are missing extra steps. In order to win with oracle, it has to be not just food chain and first sliver cascades. Underworld breach is an example.
okay yeah i'm certain you can do it somehow but just wondered how you actually do it.
@@vincentcoo2244 a true and what piece is usually used to draw then?
@@matthiasblum5772 if you check his deck list, there are a lot of draw engine, gitaxian probe, ponder, brainstorm,.... (In his hand , maybe)
Otherwise he have praetor grasp in the deck list, he can get a draw engine from others deck before casting consultation.
if at 6:00 he'd have immediately grabbed altar, he could have won right? (barring any more interaction we hadn't seen yet). Just dargo loop, minus jeska to kill herself, then recast jeska and minus to face for lethal.
Where did Cameron get his dual lands? They're sick asf
he doesnt know either, he used to play them in his cube a long time ago, and doesnt remember where they came from
@@Raaayyyyyyyyyy sadge but thanks!
I love this. I just do.
While it didn't end up mattering, was there any consideration to tutoring Collector Ouphe with the Fiend Artisan to stop Tyler from being able to use his Treasures?
Yes. I decided it was better to go for a win than to try to not lose
Where do you guys get the tokens from? Or did you make them?
Which tokens
@@PlaytoWinMTG Treasure mainly but all of them of that style
Yes we had them made!
@@PlaytoWinMTG They look amazing :D
Where do you guys get your proxies? Or are they not proxies
Mostly printed at home in general but in that game my dargo-jeska deck is 100% real and I think Dylan's was too.
I just thought the ones were cool looking
Fable soundtrack fosho
Huge fan, one note: the music overpowers the voices about halfway through the video. It was a little frustrating having to strain to hear what y'all were saying.
The music got loud when Tyler wanted to back up, so that it would annoy people so they would pay close attention to that part so they saw what was happening
@@PlaytoWinMTG interesting technique
You guys showed it correctly. Thassa's Oracle and Consultation do not work Cascading. But you showed Lab Maniac and Consultation. He'd have to decline to cast anything til he first hits Lab Man then cast Consultation but then how does he draw? Unless he uses Jace..... Or am I mistaken?
You’re right. That part doesn’t exactly matter so we normally rush through it. I put lab man on screen cause that’s what he should have said
Just extra steps. If he casts everything, he eventually hits underworld, which will then allow him to cast a draw spell. The mana comes from casting everything in his deck.
While I generally enjoy watching, but hate playing cEDH, Tyler's deck makes me actually want to build something. Thanks for that, I guess.
Thank Nando (from our video of patron-submitted decks). His silas-dargo deck is what got me hot on Dargo in the first place and led me to build my take on dargo-jeska 😁
I love you guys
I love you too
I could do without the constant interruptions, but I do appreciate what you guys are trying to do
8:11 can't you at the end copy the chain to at least get 2 cards off someone Dylan? ^^
yes good call
"That was you saying like: 'I am not gonna read all that but I'm happy for you or I'm sorry.'"
That was so funny bro, lol
To me that was him like: "I'm going do all this really cool stuff but not actually win the game this turn."
Haha 😆
Dude, whitherspoon, that was so funny dude, so many hilarious lines this episode. Plz do more episodes like this 😂
Can you guys start podcasting again. Cheers
Should have cast the imp seal before going for the win there. You had City of Brass, coulda gotten something for emergencies, incase they prevented tylers win
Witherspoon. 💀 🌳
Super fast First Sliver should definitely use Food Chain, Metamorphosis and Birthing Pod. 75% of non-creature spells should be 1 drop draw/ramp (Overmaster, Insist, etc..) and anything else should be some sort of tutor. Toss in an Eerie Ultimatum for some late turn fuckery.
GG
First Chain Food Sliver
Reject society, embrace foodchain
I love dargo jeska. I fucking hate mono color and I’m actually really interested in it
Ehm... why was he able to cascade infinte times at the end?
infinite mana, cast first sliver for cascade, sac it and rescast
With infinite mana you can cast first sliver how ever many times you want
You use food chain to exile squee the immortal. You get 4 mana to cast creature spells. Squee says you can cast from exile, which you do for three mana. After every exile and cast, you net a mana. This allows infinite mana to cast creature spells. With infinite mana, you cast first sliver then use food chain to exile him, which at point you use commander rules to put him into command zone.
the very bad dockside extorsionist still made more mana that it cost
Awesome game btw jeska/dargo could have won 5:46 if he -x jeska to die and trade 1 treasure for engineer to get altar sac the remaining treasure float 4 red mana sac dargo to altar infinite sac use 4 floating mana plus tap 1 land to cast jeska with billion counter ping every1
FLINThorn elves ftw 🧝♀️ 🧝🏿♂️
God Tyler is so cool
Tyler could have had the win, he should have -1 Jeska killing her and putting her back to the CMD zone then do the phyrexian alter+dargo loop, recast Jeska for 5cmc and -(X) everyone to win...
FOOD CHAIN FUCKING WINS GAMES ~PIG SQUEALS!~
a nice red-saturated B E G I N
neat
Why didn't Tyler recast Jeska on his final turn? he could have minused her, she dies, then he had 3 lands and 3 creatures to sac to altar, she would only cost 5...am I missing something? He could still keep his Gadrak and get infinite treasure if it doesn't work out
ok, answer is he already used Jeska, her 0 ability to threaten lethal commander. Doesn't make the most sense to me tho bc Nate had Fiend Artisan to chump block even if he didn't have interaction
Music too loud this episode
Wait , how did Nate win the game here because the labman need to draw a card from empty library to win so how did he draw a card when he’s tap out
I think he won with the Thassa’s Oracle
Free mana into cantrip
He casts everything in his deck, which includes underworld. After casting everything, he has all mana that is in his deck on the field. After finding lab man and exiling library, he uses mana casted from library to cast a draw spell using underworld.
Or he just uses brain freeze to mill his opponents. Whatever works.
@@PlaytoWinMTG Thanks you for the reply. Its a pleasure that my favorite channel is answering my question :) Love your content
@@MM-oz9nx oh so that is how thanks you for the info i never play against this kind of before.
So pretty much, if Jeska hadnt tried to buff Dargo, instead it couldve downticked itself to death, then be recast and win the game? So the combat wasn't thought out? Dude chose combat over combo bc he didnt see the win?
Nah. Tyler was playing around dylan having removal. If There was removal then his combo would have failed, so he was baiting out interaction
do these guys proxy their cards or just spend a million on their decks
When the wither bloom was destroyed couldn't he have copied it and targeted another player to at least get a mind twist out of it?
Nah
Yes, he could of. Not mind twist, but he could of forced a player to discard two cards.
