RSCDS Virtual Festival 2023 - Scottish Country Dance Group Basel

Set to Celebrate!
Grüezi mitenand from Basel! This dance is a medley composed of four RSCDS dances from the last century: The Triumph (Book 1, 1924), The Reel of the 51st Division (Book 13, 1945), The Trysting Place (Book 35, 1988), and Portincaple Oak (Book 53, 2023).
Twenty-four bars of each dance (excepting the last, which has a full 32 in order to end with a circle) are linked by 8-bar transitions, inspired by clips of the White Heather Club Dancers from the 1960s.
We start simple, with just two dancers, and work our way through different longwise sets, until everyone gets involved for our final square set. We begin in black and white film until the beginning of The Trysting Place (a 1980s publication), to enhance the illusion of time passing.
