9-1-20. Howdy. I will have had THAT EXACT Admiral Blue GS from the vid for ONE MONTH in 3 days!! It is amazing! IT IS AN F-35 fighter jet on 4 wheels!! It drives normally like a Learjet and on S or T it converts to F-35!!! Almost bought 2015 Z06. After so much BAD NEWS about it because I drive hard and terribly AND TRACK DAYZ!!! The best and smart $ and BEST $ went for MY G S!!!!!!! 2017 with 14K miles now has 17,550. Too fun and I ALMOST DONT DESERVE IT, almost!!! Cheers to all good people
I drove a new 2016 Stingray for a week in California and Arizona back in May. It doesn't pin you to the seat under hard acceleration like my 2008 C6 with the NPP exhaust does. Also I noticed that climbing out of Black Canyon to Flagstaff the temp gauge climbed close to the hot. The car only had 2500 miles on it.
GM should of put the ls7 with some upgrades to push 550hp in the grand sport ,it would of made more sense a NA for the track and making it unique within the c7 generation
HP/TQ 460/465 standard corvette 55k, 460/465 Grand Sport 65k, 460/465 Z07 pkg 75k,... 650/650 real Z06 80k, If i had a race track i think the base GS would have a purpose but for driving the roads the standard Corvette would fit my needs.
+sleepybird09 cant rn i bought a used 2010 fusion for the family and they are done making the coupe till 2020 but a 3.8 pushing 348 hp and 295 tourque out of a 3400 lbs curb weight ride is fast
I know this is a super silly question, but is the Grand Sport still considered a Stingray? Is it the C7 Corvette Stingray Grand Sport (massive name btw)? Or is it just C7 Corvette Grand Sport? Is this considered it's own model? Same with the ZO6. Does that carry the Stingray badge?
I see what Gm is doing, it's kinda like how the 5th gen Camaro had the 1le, it was the base SS with some of the zl1 goodies. I'm not sure about the new 6th gen ss/1le in terms of what goodies it can get from the new zl1, seeing as Gm has launched the all new remodled zl1
I know one problem with a Corvette: Fiber glass. Unless they no longer us fiber glass, it's made to look the car beautiful, but is easier to damage than regular armor on a car.
Did the automatic transmissions overheat on the track in Drive Mode? Or did you have to use Paddle Shifters? My 15' Z51 automatic overheats on the track so I am thinking about getting a manual
I am a manual guy but I sold my soul for faster 0-60 and quarter mile times in the auto. The shotgun sound the auto gives when it shifts is awesome and I will miss that if I get an manual, plus the auto is just flat out faster. After the problems and frustrations I have with the car overheating though I will have to get a manual if I even get another Vette. So much for the car being "track capable" per Chevys website. Thanks for the recommendation though!
I’ve been disappointed in the new Corvette’s appearance since it came out, but this time the stock one looks pretty sano. The upmarket ones still have too much gingerbread and too many scoops, creases and color accents for my taste. I’m pretty old so I was lucky enough to own some pretty righteous cars back in the day when you could street race them. These new cars are quantum leaps faster in acceleration performance compared to the older ones. I would have killed myself in one of these new ‘vettes back in the day.
ZO6 rated among the least reliable 5 cars of this past year by Consumer Reports. Finished last in MT Best Drivers Car Compeition. The Z06 was towed home from the test so the question is "will this car still be running after the first 5000 miles or will it be towed home from the track".
This is a GrandSport not a Z06. So it doesn't have the faulty supercharged engine from the Z06, but rather the reliable LT1 from the base-Corvette. In that sense, this car is the better deal.
VirusTornado You are correct regarding the engine at least on paper. Unfortunately for chevy they made a similar claim regarding the ZO6 vs the C7. It turned out that both had issues. Furthermore the reliability issues don't end with engine. The list is long so lets hope Chevy got it ALL sorted out.
It's the "middle level" corvette. For people who don't want just a regular stingray, with the narrow body, but can't afford or don't want all the craziness of the z06, the grand sport fits perfect. I have the c6 grand sport because i didn't want the ls7 failure of the z06 and i didn't want a base c6. I wanted that widebody look. And i'm going for the same thing in the next month or so. I'm going for the new grand sport with the 7 speed. I don't want a regular skinny body c7 and i don't want, well i do kinda, but i don't want the problems the new z06 has.
Oh I thought the GS was a Z06 with just a softer suspension but maybe they dont share the engine either? You cant have too many choices anyway. Although on-track performance is maybe not the main selling point of the GS as I imagine it as the "best" streetcar. If track, go Z06
Most if not every single person who buys a z06 will NOT bring that car to its potential anyway so all the track talk is just for bragging rights. Even a grand sport with less power. HP sells and that's what people want. They want a car with high numbers, to show off. When in theory those people don't drive fast. Or don't have the ability to. That said the grand sport is probably the best corvette made by far, because when you do use all 460hp, it's actually USABLE power on the street.
its a front mid engine. The engine is behind the front steering column. its still pretty balance. A rear mid engine would benifit even more because the weight of the engine will help press the rear tires on the pavement for maximum grip.
C7: 6.2 liter v8 with 420 hp Grand sport: same engine with a wide body kit and stripes with carbon ceramic brakes and better suspension. ZO6: supercharge 6.2 liter v8 with 650hp and the wide body and carbon ceramic brakes and the improved suspension.
Did anyone else notice he was driving a yellow car when he was talking on the race track, but the external shots showed a blue car?
I was constantly switching between different cars on the track.
Sean Seilheimer Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh YOU'RE COLORBLIND, or it was a car switch?
It is yellow car and in the blue car the driver is wearing a full faced white helmet 3:37 ..
Reviewing the Vette while staying composed around the track. You have my respect Zach 👊

I think blue is the way to go with these
My dad owns a '19 Grand Sport and I can't agree more.
Grey with that light blue interior 🤤
Man now this is perfect. This is the GT3 of the corvette line. I want one.
Indeed. Great car.
The color combinations you can do on this like the blue and white and silver and red look fantastic!
I recently got mine. Really like the car and starting to post vids of it on my YTube channel.
i like this guys face. .. it looks like he would never lie to me

Agreed. The car would be perfect. Also, the 8 speed needs to be a lot more responsive in manual mode.
Sub three seconds? ZR1 and C06 only, sorry. And 3200 lbs? Huh? This GS is all about handling and it rocks.
I will add this next to my 2017 Camaro 2SS soon.
My bro is steady trying to get me to buy another corvette. I already had a 73 vette. I was scared to drive it. And I hit my home with it.
Just bought this car. So dope!!!
Great video as always. Can you review the new Audi A4?
Lots of fun! I feel like I got all the fun without the $70K!
Thanks for the review. Are these comfortable enough for a daily driver and long road trips?
Yes they are I own a 2016 live in Houston drove to San Antonio in one had no problem
Say in California, yes. But in a state like New York (all 4 seasons), I would say no.
In my opinion this is how the ZO6 should have been and should have saved the supercharger for the Zr1
Glad that chin strap finally crawled out and secured your helmet on. Nice vid, cool car
king of the kings of the hill..
Sounds awesome
Best corvette ever. I can finally say I'm a Chevy/Corvette fan. Can't believe how cheap it is, if pay $100k
now excuse me as i go get in my 97 neon and enjoy my 130 hp and tourqe 😭
+sleepybird09 i will just get a genisis coup in 2020 look um up its outrageous
+sleepybird09 cant rn i bought a used 2010 fusion for the family and they are done making the coupe till 2020 but a 3.8 pushing 348 hp and 295 tourque out of a 3400 lbs curb weight ride is fast
Mac McIntosh 😂
Is there room for a couple of turbos and or super charger?
$70,455, that's it??? The dealership I work at, they are at least $71K and there are Corvettes out there for 110 grants
StriderCX I think it's considered its own model, if you want the sting ray badge i do believe they sell it in their website.
Helmet chin strap surprisingly missing in first part of video, then appears fastened later. Huh.
About 3450 lbs not 3200. Good video, thanks
I know one problem with a Corvette: Fiber glass. Unless they no longer us fiber glass, it's made to look the car beautiful, but is easier to damage than regular armor on a car.
I might put a number 88 on the grand sport because i am an alex bowman fan.
How come the Mustang can beat the Corvette in a tug of war if it's so powerful? Just curious
Did it overheat on the track?
Nope. And it was 90 degrees that day.
its not a z06
Did the automatic transmissions overheat on the track in Drive Mode? Or did you have to use Paddle Shifters? My 15' Z51 automatic overheats on the track so I am thinking about getting a manual
Were you at Atlanta Motorsports Park testing the automatic Grand Sport personally?
I am a manual guy but I sold my soul for faster 0-60 and quarter mile times in the auto. But what does Cyrus think?

Love it
does the grand sport and stingray have any cosmetic differences
yep
The grand sport is a z06 without a supercharger
Devin Stark or a stingray engine with z06 body
ZO6 rated among the least reliable 5 cars of this past year by Consumer Reports.

The Z06 was towed home from the test so the question is "will this car still be running after the first 5000 miles or will it be towed home from the track".
in all fairness it finished last because it broke down
Jeff K
That is the point! A Brand New ZO6 should not break down.
This was not the AC or the radio but the heart of the car which broke down.
This is a GrandSport not a Z06. So it doesn't have the faulty supercharged engine from the Z06, but rather the reliable LT1 from the base-Corvette. In that sense, this car is the better deal.

What performance enthusiast cares about what CR thinks? CR is for losers who are looking to buy a used Subaru.
Waiting for the depreciation
I dont get it, what is the point of the grand sport compared to z06?

well the zo6 has more horses/torque and has a faster 0-60 time

EXCELLENT. A1. Topnotch. 👍🏽💯
What about the 10 speed automatic? Camaro gets it but corvettes don't...?
How much
Killagunz5 65k msrp
3200lbs? It's nearly 3500lbs for the GS.
Just wish it had a solid roof.
I thought the vet was a muscle car.
+Jacob Dabb 😂😂😂
no omg hell no it never was
Some people consider it a sort of sports muscle. It's got the power of a muscle car but the handling of a sports car.
+Justin Haas no it a combination of tuner and muscle
Mike Garcia I disagree but you are entitled to your opinion.
Maybe if it had more power it could beat the competition and earn a place among the best of again? Less is more? Bullshit
Chris Backstrand I guess you haven't seen the track times this car does beating competition.
still not mid engine tho
Supposedly mid engine is coming, motor trend said so
front engine, rear transaxle so its pretty balanced.
its a front mid engine. The engine is behind the front steering column. its still pretty balance. A rear mid engine would benifit even more because the weight of the engine will help press the rear tires on the pavement for maximum grip.
hey people.
...where is difference between z06 ,c7 and grand sport
C7: 6.2 liter v8 with 420 hp
Grand sport: same engine with a wide body kit and stripes with carbon ceramic brakes and better suspension.
ZO6: supercharge 6.2 liter v8 with 650hp and the wide body and carbon ceramic brakes and the improved suspension.
+Kendal DK *460 hp on the stock c7, sorry.
1:53 start , car don't lean much ....
I wish they didnt call it admiral blue, because its not. Too dark.
He don't look like he wanna be filming a video
S
no thanks. ill take a shelby instead
If you mean the GT350, that's like comparing apples to oranges. Both are great, but different market categories.
All of you are fanboys, and all of you suck.
I think you will loose with your shelby
Grand Sport beats the Shelby on any track tested
